Case and point: don't worry about it. Girls start getting boobies pretty soon, and then you'll have plenty of other things to think about. Being an Inheritor is not a life goal.

I have the same feeling towards you & your post just now. Which means you're a hypocrite, & in the end, you wouldn't like it either. So, it's actually the ignorant people like you, who don't think before they type. So at times that ignore button would work for me too if I could ignore the people like you. (Now you see it would be bad right? If someone found you to be annoying, so they ignored you.)
I really do find you annoying.

I don't see a problem here, you ignoring him means he wouldn't have to listen to you, so either way it's a win for him. I really don't see how he wouldn't like it in the end.

I don't see any huge problems with this. If people use it to ignore people with different opinions then their threads would go nowhere and would just lie dead in the back pages of the forums.

I spend too much time here.. too much time indeed.

I agree an ignore feature would be nice.

I think it is a good idea. I would see less Sena spam.

No you wouldn't. Correct me if I'm wrong, but 'Sena spam' is done on new accounts each time.

You'd see it just as often, you'd simply just have a tool to remove it from view immediately rather than hoping enough reports minimize it.

This is why I don't like how community members being nominated as Forum Ninjas. They think that they're the law now.

I already know I'm not going to like your post. Or you. You think that the fact that he's stating that it sucks for regular members without moderation abilities that they can't moderate things that are clearly rule breaking, is him "being the law"? No.

You're just being obnoxiously "against authority".

No OP, you can't do that just because you find something annoying. That's you're opinion to what you think is annoying.

He's not saying you should be able to ban someone or lock a thread because you think they/it are/is annoying. He's saying that it sucks we can't moderate rule breakers right as we see them.

see you as the kid who, if they had it their own way, would report every opinion you thought to be stupid.

That's not what he's saying either. Did you read the OP? It's about censoring your OWN experience. Not reporting random (annoying) posts as rule breaking. Hardly anyone reports posts just because they find them annoying, and that's not what anything in the OP is about.

because someone like you would probably report or (if your wish came true) ignore everyone you, in your opinion, find
posting annoying crap

So you're attempting to illegitimize the points he's saying in his OP because of the fact that you have a certain (baseless) opinion of him that, as it turns out has nothing to do with the content in the OP.

Edit: You'd ignore this too wouldn't you? (Rhetorical)

You're not special, man.

There's nothing that says he has to come back and respond to your post. He's not even in the thread anymore. Stop being ignorant.

1)He didn't state it sucks for regular members without moderation abilities that they can't moderate things that are clearly rule breaking. He stated that "it sucks" that he can't block posts that he finds in his opinion annoying.
I myself said that I severely dislike community members being nominated Forum Ninjas because people like the OP are immature & ignorant. You can report everyone you want to become a Forum Ninja, & it's not right when some of these guys are too immature & close minded to handle their job.
2)He's not saying you should be able to ban someone or lock a thread because you think they/it are/is annoying. He's saying that it sucks we can't moderate rule breakers right as we see them.He did say all that except for the part you added. So...next.
3)The OP had this whole post based around things that conflicted against his own opinions of being annoying. So, your debate is failing.
4)So you're attempting to illegitimize the points he's saying in his OP because of the fact that you have a certain (baseless) opinion of him that, as it turns out has nothing to do with the content in the OP.Baseless? Everything I said came from that paragraph. It had everything to do with the OP. Read them all again if you have to.
5)You're not special, man.

I never said I was special, & you're right, there's nothing that says he's supposed to respond. That's why I put "rhetorical". You're the ignorant one here. I tried to argue with points that either didn't make sense or had to do with this at all.

It's not a bad idea. They could always appoint more moderators, but then of course all those moderators won't help when thousands of newcomers join the site and start posting away.

I get what you're aiming at now, although I still respectfully disagree...

Racism isn't wrong if it's funny.

I disagree. Eventually, nobody would ever see anyone else, and you know there are users who would go through and ignore everyone they came across "just for teh lulz".

Also, what happens if you ignore a mischievous user and then he decides to "clean up his act". Everyone has ignored him, and now you're just driving away users or forcing them to create new accounts.

I don't see how this can be successful. It seems that in the long run it will just inhibit.

I find that it sucks that I can't block posts from users whom I find annoying or posts completely stupid posts. What he stated was his opinion to see who else shares it.
I myself said that I severely dislike community members being nominated Forum Ninjas because people like the OP are immature & ignorant. You can report everyone you want to become a Forum Ninja, & it's not right when some of these guys are too immature & close minded to handle their job.
Cool Story Bro, if you don't like it then if this rolls through ignore it. Also, would you mind clarifying why they're close-minded and immature?

I don't believe he said we would have the ability to ban or lock threads.
3)The OP had this whole post based around things that conflicted against his own opinions of being annoying. So, your debate is failing.
The OP gave an idea based on his opinions, we're relating to his idea with our own opinions. That's how things get innovated and implemented.

You should probably reread the OP.

Spam is the only thing that people need to ignore. I mean actual spam, as in spamming the same things over & over again, or advertisements not relating to this website. Anything else, like this I don't care about. It's humorous. The OP states that he would have something like this removed. OP, if I'm wrong about anything, you weren't specific enough about thing things you want to ignore. All you said was annoying stuff (Which makes you sound like a communist. You wouldn't let some people post their opinions if it were up to you). I'm not mad at you, my text sounds like I'm raging, but I'm not. It's just that your opinion would conflict with a lot of other opinions, in a bad way.

The first sentence wouldn't actually happen, but the 2nd sentence is an example of what I mean.

How would it work though?

Would all threads or posts made by an ignored user not appear to you, or would only a certain thread or post not appear?

That's not confusing at all. You would have known you have the person on ignore, and it's clearly visible that the person is being quoted.

If you can't put two and two together there then what are you doing operating a computer?

  • 12.11.2011 7:45 PM PDT

We miss you Logan.
Ask any question. I'll help with anything on site or off.

I don't think we should have a ignore feature, but I think that when you do see a annoying post we should have a hide button, or toggle whatever you would like to call it.

When does that happen? You always quote people you're talking to to provide context barring the off-chance occasion that you're just to lazy to do so. And a feature shouldn't be dismissed because of a rare occasion that MAY occur.

Sometimes. No it shouldn't be, I (myself) have a different reason to disagree with the feature. Although, you question comes down to what HOOBLA says in response. I only said what I think he might be meaning.

So why not just collapse a person's post when they are on your ignore list? That way you know they posted, and if you really want to know what they said you don't have to unignore them, read the post and then reignore them.

That, in my opinion, would be perfect.
