Crazy, I would remove the 'it's morally wrong' point from your synopsis. Morality is subjective.

Personally, I think the ignore system would work best as previously suggested, as an extension to the report button, acting as the equivalent of a global report button.

I was thinking about not putting it in but it was put up as a rebuttal by one of the major opponents of the feature (ken) and I wanted it to be an even 5 and 5 reasons for and against. So, it's there.

Edit: I removed it. It was silly.

What system would you guys like to test out of all the systems put forth? I personally would like to see the "drop down" ignore system, posted quite a few pages back, implemented for a few days. I'd like to see how it would pan out.

Sorry Dazza, ignore the cool-off section and re-adverse all criticism to the "Random generator section". I realised the problems with the cool-off, hence I removed it from my post, before you posted :P
That just seems like an over-complicated way of having a look through their post history.

Again, it should be as simple and easy to use as possible so that even someone who has no prior knowledge of what it is or how it works can use it - like the "Block" button on a PM.

While you're here, could you add something like this to the OP to help out people just coming in?

So something along the lines of a "Post History" button next to the ignored user?

As nice as this would be I doubt it will happen. The only way to fix this is to kill the public forums....

WITH FIRE!

Uh.... NOPE

But you do raise a good point there, maybe people should try joining more private groups/making them and only include people they like.
Uhhh. Yes so I won't have to deal with fanboys like you.

Good. :)

In a time long past, the armies of the dark came again to the lands of men. Their leaders became known as the fallen lords, and their terrible sorcery was without equal in the west.
In 30 years they reduced the civilized nations into carrion and ash. Until the free city of Madrigal alone defined them. An army gathered there, and a desperate battle was joined against the fallen
Heros were born in the fire and bloodshed of the wars which followed and their names and deeds will never be forgotten

I would like to point out that you must be a pretty large fan to come here, make an account, and post. Calling someone a "fan boy" when posting on Bungie.net seems kind of hypocritical.

No it's not hypocritical at all. Once again, your inferior logic shines through once again. Most people came here for the stats for Halo, or for news about Halo 2/Halo 3. That doesn't make them fanboys.

There's a difference between being a fan, and being a fanboy.

A fan enjoys something and will partake in the enjoyment of that something.

A fanboy is in love with that something and believes all else to be inferior, to the point that they'll belittle others and cause wars between franchises or consoles, etc.

Fans? Yay!

Fanboys? Go away...

It is the soldier, not the reporter, who has given us freedom of the press. It is the soldier, not the poet, who has given us freedom of speech. It is the soldier, not the campus organizer, who has given us the freedom to demonstrate. It is the soldier, not the lawyer, who has given us the right to a fair trial. And it is the soldier who salutes the flag, who serves the flag, whose coffin is draped in the flag that allows the protester to burn the flag.Father Dennis Edward O'Brien, USMC

I think this thread needs a time out. here hasnt been a civil argument made in like 5 pages. Lets all take a deep breath. And hug it out.

The distance between insanity and genius is measured only by success.

The problem with the world is that the intelligent people are full of doubts, while the stupid ones are full of confidence.

Does anyone have anything new to say? Constructive conversation is great, repeating yourselves 50 times is not.

This should not be a personality debate. This feature has nothing to do with banning people. The argument for people having the ability to ignore others already, so we don't need a feature for it, is mundane and ignorant. This thread is a perfect example of how people CANNOT and WILL NOT ignore others unless they cannot see what is being posted.

We need a vote on a trial run.

I would say this thread is an example of how 3 to 4 people need to learn not to flame people on the mains or get banned. Most people here were consturctive and VERY few people were rude.

I am still surprised after how long this thread has gone on the mods have not banned the rude people.

That makes the thread go bad.

OT:
I am really confused on what people seem to want the ignore button for. Some want it for trolls, ignoring people to ignore people, and some people seem to have no clue why they want this.

Truthfully, I really don't see any reason why people can't just not respond to a topic. If you have an issue, PM someone or a mod.

I don't think the webteam should give a feature to the people who are rude to others on the forums. IDK how much it will help against flaming but I think some users get off way too easy for it.

But, I guess a trial of this feature wouldn't hurt becuase the Webteam could see who is ignored, why they are ignored, and if it is effective.

Also, some of the real trolls and annoying people will not use the feature, and continue to be annoying for the sake of being annoying,

Yax is a shining beacon in these dark times. You should all strive to be more like Yax.

So this thread is basically all of us throwing our opinions as hard as we can at each other, and having them all clash and break so Achronos can see where the community stands and the pros and cons of the concept, right?

If you're still reading this Achy, would it be beneficial to have other threads on entirely different topics for the same purpose? Threads for all the main issues and suggestions that are repeated and reposted here but don't receive any official attention from Bungie. Or are those all, in your opinion, closed cases and you don't need to hear our opinions on them?

I would say the webteam reads MANY threads but of course they don't respond to them all. I think Achronos posted so much in this one becuase he is considering makeing this a feature. But, he wants feedback.

If this feature is added, it will change Bungie.net, a lot. If this isn't done right, it could have conequences. I like many users have opinions about this.

I think many people don't see the big picture on how this will effect the site or further implications. It is easy to say now "block, block, block", but what happens when you try and go into threads full of blocked users and you see the discussion going off and you can't catch up?

Same goes for the person blocked a lot who is undable to make effective threads or posts becuase no one will see them.

IDK how this will go, I am for this if it can be done right but the maturtiy of users here and the effect it has on the forums I feel would cause a negitive result.

So people proving your idiocy is being rude? Hmmm....

Proving my idiocy?

I want to adress this tight here and now.

Saying that is attacking the user, not talking about what is said. many people here do not understand the diffrerence.

Saying "I am stupid" is flaming, saying my idea is flawed and reasons stated why it is bad is NOT flaming and helpful to the discussion.

I also don't feel I am mentally "impaired" in any way and it kind of hurts my feelings when I hear that.

It is rude and after 2 years of being an active memeber here, being flammed for having an opinionn, I am sick of it.I think this attitude shows this feature wouldn't fix any problems, they will always be there. All we are doing is trying to hide it and I don't really know how effiective it will be.
