This is truly false, because the reticle for the BR is much larger than the reticle for the DMR, and this allows the DMR to be far more accurate at longer ranges than the BR without bloom.

Because the size of the reticle totally represented the spread of the weapon...

No, but the size of the reticle dictates the area in which a bullet may end up. A weapon with a smaller reticle will have a higher percentage of landed hits.

Could you contradict yourself any more?

The Halo 2 BR had almost no spread what so ever. If you were on host, you could easily 4 shot people across maps like tombstone.

The 343 forums suck. They're full of retarded kids and mods who got butthurt in the B.net forums for being told that they're bad.

He must have never pulled host, ever.

ZB is only in 2 playlist. Don't want to play ZB, play another playlist.

Precisely. The key term in your statement is "almost", even a host BR cannot 4 shot a person across a map like a DMR can, thats just the fact of it. Put a DMR vs. a BR across a map like Tombstone and the DMR will win in a long range fight hands down. Burst fire weapons are not as accurate as single fire weapons, this is a generally believed concept in warfare.

Since the BR has just the slightest spread even with host (But keep in mind, sir or madam, that there is only one host per game) it is only logical to assume that the single fire weapon can better control of it's shots over a longer distance than a burst fire weapon.

I believe that the whole reason Bungie made the DMR a single shot weapon is because a burst fire weapon with bloom on would be a far too inaccurate long range weapon to use in a futuristic first person shooter such as Halo. Thus the DMR was designed to operate under a bloom shot. Look at Gears of War for example, in the original Gears of War the hammerburst was a burst fire, but when Epic implemented bloom, they made the hammerburst a single shot weapon. This might not be the case, but I find it interesting none the less.

IN CONCLUSION, lol, I would have to disagree with the concept of zero bloom in Reach, and I would have to compromise with 85% bloom instead. If the weapons were designed differently, then I would prefer zero bloom, but this is not the case.

I thought that this was discussed before...?
It is not spamming if you are just firing at the allowed Rate Of Fire (ROF). There must be some detrimental effect for it to be spam, such as bloom or in the case of real gun recoil and the rising of the gun.

Forget it man, and get with the countdown. Shake this square world and blast off for Kicksville.

Reach host ranking algorithm: (a*quit_percentage + b*isMexican + c*(1/KDR) + d*hasGuest) * 100
where a > b = d > c

What am I even supposed to say to this? There is no insult grave enough. There is no trollface troll enough. I'm just... at a loss.

Right, because it's not like Bungie have control of the game code or anything. I mean, even if they tried to make a pinpoint-accuracy burst fire weapon the compiler would just re-adjust the code to conform to the "generally believed concepts" of, uh, warfare.

I swear brain cells are dying by the thousands just from reading your posts. I could probably binge drink for a month and do less damage to myself. I hope you're happy.

Only a dummy would fire as fast as possible

MLG pro's disagree. Spam the f**kery out of the DMR in close/medium quarters combat.

If you're MLG, you shouldn't be in close quarters with your DMR out anyway :P

  • 12.13.2011 3:20 AM PDT

OP you waste your time, most the people here are brainwashed.

However OP I agree with you, I tried spamming a DMR with bloom, doesn't work FOR ME.

Even if I hi the target whilst spamming it feels as if the bullets do less damage.

How the -blam!- do you spam on no bloom retard? omfg you're stupid 1v1 me right now lets dance.

You have the same ability, if he can do it faster and more accurate, it's called SKILL GAP.

If there isn't any bloom, then why wouldn't you pull the trigger as fast as possible? If you pace your shots, you're going to die.

it doesnt take skill, you defending button mashing is like defending using a turbo controller on a semi auto rifle meant for single shot

A DMR IS semi-auto -blam!- people need to learn what the hell is going on. In a FPS game, a shot should not be randomized for the fact that casual gamers would get dumped on by higher skilled players.

I believe bloom was introduced due to the sole fact that Bungie KNEW there was going to be no TrueSkill in the game, and thus needed to find a cheap and confusing way to close the skill gap. So why not randomize shots with bloom? It only hurts better people who can keep their reticle centered on their opponent. Plus, any shooter game that relies on a luck factor for 95% of it's precision-weapons battles ruins the concept of competitive gaming.

Bloom = Crap

Only the skilled and longtime fans know this. The casual, less-skilled players support it. Who do you trust?

Trueskill is in every Microsoft published game. Risk on XBLA even has it. So, no. Trueskill needs a good population in order for it to work, which It can't in Reach.

Regardless, I liked the idea of bloom. Halo was dictated by, first shot won. Which works, obviously but bloom had the chance to make it so overall skill will win a fight as opposed to who sees who first. It failed, terribly.

  • 12.13.2011 7:01 AM PDT

bloom, no bloom, who the hell cares. It all comes down to skill in the end. I do the same when playing no bloom as when I am playing bloom.

If you aren't, that just means you suck, and now since there are two options you can no longer blame any of the game mechanics. You have to accept the fact that you aren't any good.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but it actually takes way more skill nailing 5 perfect shots on an opponent without bloom than pacing your shots. Bloom only allows more inferior players to keep up with the pace, and when it comes to spamming, the winner is decided by a roll of dice.

br was easy as hell to use

If you were any good with the BR you wouldn't be a Kernal.

I can do the 4sk like a boss, but I always miss the 5th shot, so I slow my pace a bit.

Me too. I really hate 5sk because of that. It just feels too slow.

OP is a bad player who prefers bloom because he can get lucky kills more easily due to the game deciding whether he wins or loses a particular battle whereas in ZB it's all down to him but he's not as good as everyone else in the MLG playlist so he comes on here and cries because he doesn't like being beaten at a videogame.

I can't believe people are still arguing about this topic. I think it is great. The zero bloom and bleed through gives halo reach a more classic feel, but it still stays fresh with AA's etc.

They should just make an HLG playlist then you guys can hide against each other and see how much fun it is.

OP is either trolling, so bad that he doesn't understand what he's talking about or simply retarded.

His 0.77 K/D ratio whispers me the second option is the right one.

My problems [with Reach] are basically just full parties, mlg, and people who go out of their way not to get killed.

People act like the only difficult thing in Reach is managing bloom.

Bloom does not take skill, people. It has been said and explained thousands of times on this forum.
