Good players can still use bloom. Without bloom, those good players do better than they did before.

No bloom is much better for competition. I don't care what happens to the casual playlists as long as MLG stays no bloom

It's not spamming if there is no bloom.

This.

It's retarded not to fire the gun as fast as you can if there's no consequence to doing so. You never heard about kids "spamming" the BR in Halo 2 or Halo 3, or the pistol in CE. The concept of spamming only exists when bloom is present.

Nope. SouthPole isn't a person. He's the avatar of the force of tryhards everywhere. He stalks the web looking for retards to set straight. He can not be stopped by mere bans or thread locks for he shall rise anew.

You're retarded.
"Mashing the trigger" takes a lot more skill than "pacing". If it's so easy, why do you suck? Oh wait, that's right, it's not easy. It's a lot harder.

Stop trying to convince yourself that the other players are "mashing the trigger as fast as they can". The good players are going to be able to fire as fast as they can aim, creating a skill gap. That's a lot better than forcing the good players to slow down for you.

This.

If you are one of those "new halo players" that have only played Reach they still have your scrub playlists.

If you were any good at a previous Halo no-bloom is perfect. As said above how can you spam when there is no bloom? You also can spam back. I guess I'm sorry you cannot aim? lol

this is a generally believed concept in warfare.

What am I even supposed to say to this? There is no insult grave enough. There is no trollface troll enough. I'm just... at a loss.

I believe that the whole reason Bungie made the DMR a single shot weapon is because a burst fire weapon with bloom on would be a far too inaccurate long range weapon to use in a futuristic first person shooter such as Halo.
Right, because it's not like Bungie have control of the game code or anything. I mean, even if they tried to make a pinpoint-accuracy burst fire weapon the compiler would just re-adjust the code to conform to the "generally believed concepts" of, uh, warfare.

I swear brain cells are dying by the thousands just from reading your posts. I could probably binge drink for a month and do less damage to myself. I hope you're happy.

This is coming from a person who can't use correct grammar. You would be a fool to argue the fact that a burst fire weapon is more accurate than a weapon on semi-automatic fire. Making a burst fire weapon that accurate would be a ridiculous idea. Do not insult my intelligence, child.

I have no idea no idea what you're even trying to argue, how about you re-formulate your statement.

Bungie had control of the game code WHEN THEY MADE THE GAME. 343 is the studio behind 85% and zero bloom. Bungie had no intention of changing the bloom, that was 343's idea.

Chill bro. Gotta get my bowl.

I never understood it either.

Call me crazy, but spamming = pulling the trigger as fast as you can.. bloom is implemented in games to prevent this, by forcing you to pace your shots... however since the bullet spread is random in bloom, it is entirely possible that the bullet will hit your target (risk/reward)..

So WITH bloom, if you pace your shots you will always hit where you aim, and if you spam the trigger you may get lucky and still connect your shots (keep in mind you are still AIMING)

WITHOUT bloom, you do not need to pace your shots, you can spam the trigger and always hit where your reticule is. This speeds up kill times because players do not need to pace their shots..

Essentially all zero bloom does is increase kill times. I prefer bloom, otherwise kill times are way too fast especially in long distance firefights (since the DMR is hitscan)..

lol?

Pacing is a skill now?

Oh gee, sure takes a lot of skill to slowly aim at someone and let bullet magnetism hit them in the head even if I miss like by a mile.

I don't mean offence by this, but you simply aren't good enough to understand it. You don't understand much of anything actually which is why you aren't good at this game.

No, firing rate caps are there to stop spamming. Bloom was meant to increase the skill gap but failed hard at doing so.

So WITH bloom, if you pace your shots you will always hit where you aim, and if you spam the trigger you may get lucky and still connect your shots (keep in mind you are still AIMING)

No, with bloom you can pace all you want and get killed by people who spam quite often. It is not a rare occurence, it happens enough that enough people wanted it gone so now it is

WITHOUT bloom, you do not need to pace your shots, you can spam the trigger and always hit where your reticule is. This speeds up kill times because players do not need to pace their shots..

Wrong again, without bloom you have to perfectly aim your shots. It doesn't matter how fast you fire because if you can't aim, you won't hit anything.

Essentially all zero bloom does is increase kill times. I prefer bloom, otherwise kill times are way too fast especially in long distance firefights (since the DMR is hitscan)..

Hit scan has nothing to do with kill times and kill times are on par with Halo 2 and no one cried about dying too fast back then.

Halo contains quite a bit of realism, such as the fact that when you are shot in the head with a 50 caliber sniper round, you die. There are parameters to realism in sci-fi shooters such as Halo. It is up to the developer to decide where the line is drawn and i'm pointing out where Bungie drew their line. Now i'm going to let you sit here and argue about nothing, as you clearly have no idea what you're talking about. Meanwhile, i'm going to head to the 343 forums to have intelligent conversations with individuals who don't fill half of their arguments with insults because they have no idea what they're talking about. Good day.

How I kill? Simple effective Head shots and Beat downs. My newest favorite saying? Bullet meet head, head meet bullet. I would love to say this to a current telemarketer. I now have come up with Operation Laser. Operation Laser is the basis of basic lasering. Spartan Lasers ftw!

OP might as well not argue it. 80 to 90% of the bungie forums that I'VE seen so far like the no bloom thingy. No point in arguing to the converted.

  • 12.13.2011 5:53 PM PDT

"I'll tell you right now, if you ever see someone called ll wa1do ll... leave the game immediately. My friend knows him, I've been in his party a few times, do not mess with this guy. From what I've heard, he's the real deal. I also heard someone made a guy named Wa2do (similar to his name) and then he hacked that guy and boosted off his level." -From Minou on Bungie.net

What we really need is 275% bloom.

Only a dummy would fire as fast as possible

MLG pro's disagree. Spam the f**kery out of the DMR in close/medium quarters combat.

That's because their panicking lol, they are playing against other pros so taking it easy will not work.

What the hell are you talking about?

You have to aim.

By all means, educate me.

You would be a fool to argue the fact that a burst fire weapon is more accurate than a weapon on semi-automatic fire.
Nowhere did I argue that a burst-fire weapon is more accurate than a semi-automatic weapon in the real world (assuming a degree of parity between the weapons and the firing scenario). I guess it was too difficult for you to understand, so let me spell it out a bit more clearly: you are a -blam!- retard for suggesting that this fact has any relevance to a sci-fi video game.

Making a burst fire weapon that accurate would be a ridiculous idea.
Like being able to consistently headshot people while jumping with a shoulder-fired sniper rifle? Yes, clearly there's nothing ridiculous in Halo.

Bungie had control of the game code WHEN THEY MADE THE GAME. 343 is the studio behind 85% and zero bloom. Bungie had no intention of changing the bloom, that was 343's idea.
I'd love to know what this has to do with anything I've said.

No, firing rate caps are there to stop spamming. Bloom was meant to increase the skill gap but failed hard at doing so.

It's a semi automatic weapon... the firing rate is as fast as you pull the trigger... the DMR has no "firing rate cap"

No, with bloom you can pace all you want and get killed by people who spam quite often. It is not a rare occurence, it happens enough that enough people wanted it gone so now it is

Not what I said.. I said that if you pace your shots you will always hit where you aim.. that's not saying you're guaranteed the kill.. And honestly, I don't feel spamming (with bloom) will win you a battle that often. You have to remember that most of these spamming problems come from close quarter combat.. but you can be less accurate at close range.. its just common sense (and that's not saying you don't have to aim)

Wrong again, without bloom you have to perfectly aim your shots. It doesn't matter how fast you fire because if you can't aim, you won't hit anything.

Think for a moment... you still have to aim perfectly with bloom when you pace.. AND you still have to aim when spamming (keep this in mind).. so say in a game with bloom, you are AIMING at guy, perfectly as you put it, and you spam the trigger (DMR is semi auto, the fire rate IS how fast you pull the trigger).. some of your shots may miss, but they might not (its like a gamble, but it still rewards AIMING).. ok now remove the bloom, the firing rate doesn't change.. so you can shoot just as fast as you can with bloom, but guess what, if you're AIMING at the guy all your shots will connect.. so this essentialy speeds up the kill time (which isn't a bad thing mind you, but I'm always seeing bloom/spamming being argued for the wrong reasons)..

Hit scan has nothing to do with kill times and kill times are on par with Halo 2 and no one cried about dying too fast back then.

The Halo 2 BR (post TU) and the DMR are basically the same weapon, since the BR's spread was practically nothing.. however, the BR was not hit scan, on larger maps you would have to lead your shots.. the DMR has hit scan so its more like a sniper.. leading your shots was a different skill altogether, and since now you don't have to do that, I've noticed its easier to get kills long range.

haha, try me. Normally I'd stop reading but..

Either you're bad or you're deliberately playing bad. I don't think the distinction really matters.

It's a semi automatic weapon... the firing rate is as fast as you pull the trigger... the DMR has no "firing rate cap"
Do you not actually think before you type, or have you just not played the game? With or without bloom, there is a maximum fire rate for the DMR. This is a basic fact. Go get a turbo controller if your finger doesn't work.

Not what I said.. I said that if you pace your shots you will always hit where you aim.. that's not saying you're guaranteed the kill.. And honestly, I don't feel spamming (with bloom) will win you a battle that often.
If spamming won one of a hundred battles, it would be one too many. It's certainly more than that. Why should someone ever win because of deliberately programmed random chance?

AND you still have to aim when spamming (keep this in mind)..
You don't have to aim as accurately, though. So long as the target is within the reticle, you're maximising the odds of your shot landing. It doesn't matter where in the reticle they are. By its very nature, an unbloomed reticle requires more precise aim.

(DMR is semi auto, the fire rate IS how fast you pull the trigger)..
Points for persistence, but it's still not true. The firing rate is how fast you pull the trigger until you reach the fire rate cap.

The Halo 2 BR (post TU) and the DMR are basically the same weapon, since the BR's spread was practically nothing.. however, the BR was not hit scan, on larger maps you would have to lead your shots.
Post-patch H2 BR was hitscan. Why bother writing all this stuff if you don't know anything? Honestly.
