Subject: Armor Customization. Get over it if you don't like it.

Some people go too crazy about armour. Otherwise, I'm completely ok with it. I actually love being able to change my character in different ways. I mean, In R6V2 I generally made my guy look different to your typical lightweight guy. It's just that people who love a certain armour too much or are crazy about GRD For example are annoying. GRD Could be an exclusive helmet for 343i and the fact that some people just want it so much pisses me off.

I love customization of characters, but the fact that the whole game is based around it makes me think twice about the feature entirely

Life is always slow...

Don't hate me for this, but my tradition in Reach is to change my entire armor every match or game.

  • 12.13.2011 1:31 PM PDT

I don't dislike it, I just hate it when people put so much care into it that it makes devs think that it's a legitimate area to devote resources to when such a trivial thing should be more of an afterthought when compared to the amount of work put into the gameplay.

I wonder if you typed that with a straight face, considering your case of shoulder cancer?

I look at it this way: if it's in the game I might as well partake in the barbie dress-up. Do I find it fun? No. Do I get joy out of it? No. But when I'm high as -blam!- customizing my armor gives me something to do between games.

If I were running a studio like Bungie, armor customization would have been red lined almost immediately. There are much more important aspects in a games development that deserve much more attention than barbie dress-up *cough* more default maps *cough* (or how bout even just better default maps).

The fact that Bungie spent so much time, effort, and resources to create the "Armory" with its numerous options is a great example of what's wrong with Reach. They became distracted with pointless fluff and forgot to focus on what actually makes the Halo experience great - the story, environments (maps), and gameplay.

Its not my actions that define me, but under what light I'm being looked upon.

Me after a physics lecture "So what you're saying is, non of it actually exists"
Yellow box "and I thought we were crazy"

I don't like people who only wear armour because it costs a lot or is hard to get E.g. people who wear gungnir. you should wear what you like.

I'll use what they give me. Doesn't mean that I approve of them caring so much about it this time around.

If I could change a few things in Reach, it would be....

*Get rid of yoinking and medal ( yoinking is retarded )
*Force Bungie to work again and get rid of 343's existence
* A few other things

Yeah but some people don't do it for fashion. They want their spartan to be unique. If everyone looked the same the game would not be as it is now. I am not trying to argue with you, i am just saying that some people like to "stand out" and some just want to make their spartan what they think he/she would look how they wanted them too.

It's like being in a candy store when my younger cousin comes over he goes mad crazy customizing the color and emblem even though he is a guest and it drives me to drink. He plays on his console also and its like he can't wait to get the next helmet.

To each his own i guess.

In space, no one can see your shame. The utter beauty of the stars and galaxies will leave you lost in the desolate wasteland of rocks and dust, and that, children, is why astronauts are crazy people.
On a side note, I am a grammar & vocab-friendly guy. So don't assume I'm a smart ass if you get into a complex argument with me...

It's not that we hate it, it's that it's overdone and makes credit seem like it's only purpose is for armor pieces.
Halo 3's armor system worked much better.

Name's John. I'm a 21-year-old firefighter/EMT from lolhio who doubles as a die-hard Halo fan. I've been enjoying the franchise since 2001. My favorite iteration of Halo would have to be Halo 2 simply because I never got to experience the joy of a full-on Halo: CE LAN.

If you have any other questions, feel free to ask.

Oh yeah, and boot Zome.

Don't have a problem with it, but I'll still call it Barbie dress-up since that's essentially what it is and I don't invest much thought into what my Barbie is wearing to the ball.

If it bothers you, we can call it Ken dress-up since the majority of players most likely choose male Spartans.

Either way, I'm going to satirize it just because I can. I make fun of myself for occasionally changing my Spartan's appearance.

I made a Bungie account and i'm supposta get the blue fire stuff coming out of my helmet but i dont know how to activate it or even know if it worked. Can you help me?

Ohai, I'm Loscocco (pronounced Loss-cocoa). I'm a college student (computer science major), 3D animator, and long-time Halo player.

I think it is a neat little aspect in Halo and definitely consider it a benefit to the game. However, I will call it "barbie dress up" if people make threads/posts as if it is the center to Halo's gameplay; people complain and obsess over pointless cosmetics as if its importance matches that of core gameplay mechanics.

  • 01.05.2012 9:14 PM PDT

Almost everyone who does any of the "lol(insert thing)", "barbiedressup", or "stop caring about credits" are just doing it because its a fad.

There are so many hypocrites, suckups, and guys who want to fit in here. Just ignore them and move on.
