I've been to 343's website and their forums have some features like thanks and post counts. I think Bungie would be smart to add some features like these to their forums.

Bungie's forums have an amazingly easy and uncluttered layout though and I never want to leave this site. I'm kinda vision impaired and 343's layout is small, cluttered and I don't really like the colour scheme.

I think stuff like the post count should be added into profiles to keep things uncluttered. But things like 'thanks' count would help people determine if a person is worth listening to or a valuable member.

What do you guys think?

Edit: I also can't access 343i's website because I'm stuck in a URL redirect loop.

Yax is a shining beacon in these dark times. You should all strive to be more like Yax.

Just checked out their forums. Why do they look so bad? Surely they could do a better design then that.

"You build on failure. You use it as a stepping stone. Close the door on the past. You don't try to forget the mistakes, but you don't dwell on it. You don't let it have any of your energy, or any of your time, or any of your space." -Johnny Cash

They do have some great features over in their forum, but we don't need them.

I disagree fully with this, the worth or value of a person's words should be determined by the individual reading it, not by the collective whole. The same reason I'm against any "Like/Dislike" feature.

I wouldn't mind a post count, but "likes/thanks" are a bad idea, even on 343i's forum the users with the most likes are just the most popular.

I guess you guys are right.

I just like numbers. Even a personal counter of likes would be cool so people can express their appreciation for someone without writing a post about it.

I think Bungie.net needs a few extra features. I'll list my top few choices:

1. Music player - nothing beats listening to some decent tunes while browsing.
2. Live doodle section - for those times when the forums are a little slow.
3. Awesome "you've got mail" full-screen animations upon receiving a private message.
4. Glorious banhammer animations when a user is banned.
5. Live streams of what the mods see on their monitors - "QUICK! The mods are looking at the Community, let's run rampant in the Universe forum!" or "Hahahahaha TU's hovering over 'Unleash Ninjas' on my post. What a joker. Wait, NO DON'T CLICK AAAA-"
6. A Dropship dude worship forum.
7. The ability to add pie graphs to posts for statistical representation.

Those are my favourites of my 101-item-long list of features I feel are a necessity to keep this dump moving.

Forums are for discussions though. If you can just click on a button to show your approval or appreciation it doesn't add anything to the discussion. People should expand on why they agree with the post or thread.

Sometimes I just don't have anything to add but just want to show that I agree with someone or find their comment funny

If you don't want to post but want to notify the poster that you approve of their post, you can always just PM them. That's what I do. I PMed Spawn a while ago when he said something funny in a thread, simply to tell him that I enjoyed his post.

That's what I do to.

Also, to expand on your list, Dropship. How about a scrolling marquee with a list of 10 or so most current bans that updates on a regular interval?

Along with a direct link to write a PM to them with the subject of "lolubant"? That's definitely on my list now.

102 and counting.
