If you need help Forging, you've come to the right thread. It doesn't matter what gametype or map it is or whether it's about building a map or setting up a spawn. Whatever it is you need help with I'll answer as many questions as I can.

ok how on earth do you get the stupid invasion respawn zones to work. Like i want to be able to spawn at point 1 for the 1st wave but not the second and thrid. I cant find away to get it to disappear. What im doing just now is to get a kill ball/boundry to spawn once a wave has been done

How come Bungie never added a paint feature to counter all the grey?

Hmph... you got proof that your an expert? Because your either a noob that knows nothing or your a guy that is legendary at forging but the community has not found out yet ( a bit like me)?

The solution is quite simple and doesn't require a kill ball or killzone to work.

I'm going to assume that you are using the label INV_RES_ZONE for your hill marker, correct? If so, then what you are setting up is called a 'backfield spawn'. These spawns will by design be available for the entire round. Since that's not what you want, you're going to need to use a different label.

On your hill marker, go into the advanced properties and scroll through labels until you see "INV_RES_P1". This label will only be active during Phase 1 (P1). P2 and P3 correspond to their respective phases as well. When the first phase ends, all of your hill markers labeled "P1" will no longer be usable. You will have to set up hill markers with the appropriate labels for each phase.

Pro Tip: Try to give each fireteam at least two areas to spawn per phase (unless they spawn behind shield doors). This is to prevent or lessen spawn camping.

I don't remember the exact quote, but I believe Shishka mentioned that grey was the easiest texture to render and it was friendlier for the framerate. I don't like the grey either but it's better than nothing. People just need to learn how to build more colorful maps that accent and compliment the grey rather than drown in it.

I want to make a 1v1 map with several rounds, picking 2 people at random with the rest in spectator cages, but people keep spawning with all in cages or only 1 in the map.

place two initial spawns for the people you want to spawn in the arena. initial spawns take priority over regular spawns. The rest of your spawn points in the cages should be regular respawn points. If you want to support 16 people with 2 fighting and 14 watching, then you'll need 14 respawn points and two initial spawns

Well wouldn't it be possible to modify the speedpile gametype to have scoring set with kills, and have flags placed outside the map so they can't be captured.

Also, don't we have a slayer flag variant?

I think that's what I tried originally, and people spawned in cages etc when there weren't 16 players.

Would be interesting to try it out and see if what you say is possible. I might give it a go when I get to my xbox.
And the slayer flag variant is called '2 flag slayer'.
