Silent are your lips, silenced are your thoughts, silence where you stood.
Honestly for as far as the most anticipated game of 2012, it has to go to ME3. As far as marketing is concerned ME3 has been on the table for a whole year since VGA2010 while H4 has only been around since E3 of this year. On top of that look at what has been released and discussed about both games. H4 has one trailer and ME3 has multiple "ad" trailers, multiple gameplay trailers, in depth discussions about mechanics, gameplay, features ect.
On top of that look at the fan base to both games. I love Halo, and i have bought every single Halo title on release day, but on the other hand i have bought both ME's on release day, have a copy of both for my pc and xbox, and most of the dlc downloaded to both. The fans like halo because it took them in a new direction, that direction is 10 years old and wearing thin. Personally i think the new halo trilogy should be renamed Chief, simply because he's the only reason they're doing a new series. If they did that then the fans would be excited because instead of them questioning how they are going to make halo extend 3 more games, they are following their hero, chief, but that is another discussion.
Halo fans have seen and done it all over the 6 games that are out (yes wars is a halo game) and were happily satisfied when Reach was called the final Halo game. But the generation of gamers who identified with Halo are almost all grown up looking for different things in life. ME on the other hand came out in 2007. Its only been 4 years; the gamers who started on this game haven't moved too far from it yet. A cake that's a day old tastes better than one that's been sitting for a week. And when that game is also the finale that ties a series together, it's like a triple layered cake with extra frosting. Remember the buzz when halo 3 was coming out? I was on here everyday posting in the rumors forum, talking about gun fixes in the beta forum, and even shooting ideas for how the arc worked. It's the not the same thing anymore. Halo 3 was the last halo game i got excited for because of how intense the fan base for it was. I will buy halo 4 and will play it a hell of a lot. But ME3 is what has me excited for 2012 as a gamer... that and minecraft 2.0.
