Baryon, roberto says many things. Not all of them are 100% accurate.

If you are basing your entirely argument over "Well that guy says so!", it's not a strong argument.

Anyway, as others said. It's a "Duh!" thing that Mass Effect 3 beat Halo 4 for most anticipated game. Tell me, what do you know about halo 4? Chief lands on/in legendary planet. At sometime gets new armor it seems.

We know far more about Mass Effect 3, gameplay videos, new features, etc.

he is really smart and proves that halo does actually have a much better story with more depth (at least 7 times more)

Where is this depth? All I see are shallow characters (Save a vanishing few), shallow hive minded races, no zietgiest at all, and at worst some stupid and psuedo-intellectual misanthropic diatribe.
just wait, i have written to roberto. when he comes online he will come here and prove you wrong.

Why wouldn't it? Halo 4 is from an unknown developer and we don't know anything about it. I'm a big Halo fan and I don't feel any hype at all yet.

Mass Effect 3 on the other hand is the third installment in a consistently amazing series from Bioware; it'll end the story, tie up everything, we've been shown plenty of footage and previews -- of course it's going to beat Halo 4 for most anticipated game.

^ He has a point. I mean all we have from 343i is a trailer that really shows us nothing. I'm still excited for Halo 4 because I love Halo, but it's not going to get most anticipated game when the developer has yet to release more than a teaser trailer.

care to refute his arguments then? i bet you cant.

you only insult people and dont actually retort his arguments which are very thought out and intelligent. you just dimsiss as "if anyone thinks like that, they insane". if you took the time to read what he write, you would know mass effect has a very bad story

very shallow characters that are just there for show, like miranda who isnt even in the third game. her purpose is just to get people horny, she doesnt have any character progression. all romances are like that. and the mass effect fanbase only like the most badass character, the more badass they are the more they are liked. most characters in mass effect are very forced andi honouestly dont see anything original the story, everything is an allusion to another trope somewhere else. halo has a list over hundreds of religous references, a book on philospohy dedicate to discuss halo.

I have been debating with Rob for years and he still hasn't replied to the last debate Anton and i had with him.

You say I "only insult people" but "don't actually retort to his arguments"; are we talking about people or rob?

His entire post was about Mass effect 2 being more action based than story based. I and many others can agree with that and see where he is coming from, but overall mass effect gets into the characters and races more than halo since it is indeed an RPG game. Not only that it hasn't been around for ten years like halo nor does it have that much content out yet.

You cannot compare two completely different things with so many differences. Which is why I said "we laughed at the entire thing." Mass effect has an excellent story so far, we have yet to really see what mass effect is about.

And are you Robs B**** boy all of a sudden? You have seen one post of his now he is a god to you or something? Try thinking instead of blindly following.

Can i get a source saying miranda isn't in the next game? Roberto tends to make claims without sources.

I do not come to this forum to talk about "Halo story Vs [Insert other fictional universe here]", I come to it to talk about Halo's story, and nothing else. I do not care about Mass Effect, Halo's story stands on its own merits rather than being stacked against something else.

So yeah, Mass Effect could really, really suck; be full of plot holes, cheesy characterisation and have a completely nonsensical story, but that still does not change my opinion on how the Halo story has went as of late.

  • 12.13.2011 10:38 AM PDT

Yay yuh!!!!!

they didn't mention halo 4 did they? pretty sure that's why it got beat out.

  • 12.13.2011 10:41 AM PDT

There are books talking about politicians, does this make them great people?

Didn't you outright say you have not played the game? Therefore making your arguments not very solid as you don't know what you are talking about. You are clinging to Roberto and following everything he says.

Last I checked we don't even have a complete character list for ME3. Miranda could well be in it, just maybe not as a teammate.

Here, how about you back up Roberto's statements with proof from the game? Oh wait... you never played it.

Like Grey, roberto ranting here as opposed to their ain't going to do much.

I like the way you a judging Mass Effect when you even said that you haven't played the game and only read the wiki. Oh and by the way, Miranda will be in the 3rd game if she survived the suicide mission and she may be there for show, but she still has a back story and personality. Also, you say the Mass Effect commuinity only likes the 'bad asses?' the exact same can be said about the Halo community who obsess over Master Chief, Arbitor and Johnson who are also so called 'bad ass' characters.

Next time actually play the game you're bashing instead of blindly following someone elses opinions because you think they're smart.

The Halo series is dying, this shows it. Mass Effect 3 trumped Halo 4 for the title of Most Anticipated Game on Spike's VGA...what say you about this Halo forum?

We haven't seen anything about Halo 4 but we have seen lots of gameplay from Mass Effect 3.

Walk softly, and carry a big midget.

IMO Mass Effect 3 deserves it. We've seen a lot more of Mass Effect 3 than Halo 4 so obviously people are going to be more exited for it.

Says the ignorant ass hat.

Casual gamers can relate more to the characters of Mass Effect, this is shown as popular memes, a lot of which generate from videos on youtube.
When people play, halo they're stuck with a generic suer soldier fighting aliens. Hell, for crying out loud, this is the main point for Halo Reach and even Halo 3 odst. In mass effect, I can create my own character, and even decide upon morale choices, that can effect the character's interactions with others. No one is going to waste their precious time thinking about how many stuff halo has in terms of novels or comics. The majority of people only care for the game and what's in the game. Halo failed to deliver and appeal.

We believe that the universe is unbounded: this is not the same as infinite: the 2-D surface of a sphere, wrapped around a 3rd dimension, has a finite size, but has no end. If you start off in a given direction on the surface of a sphere, you could return to your start point without having to turn around -- you simply go all the way around. But wouldn't that mean the universe has an escape velocity like the earth?

Difference, ODST was at least a great in the Halo series in my opinion. But Reach was disgraceful, the voice acting was dreadful. And the amount of time it took for canon to reclarify itself was a huge fiasco in its own right.

but halo doesnt have any plot holes in comparison to mass effect. character development is non existant or blatanly obvious in mass effect. look at this thread for instance,

bottom of page, ROBERTO

he is really smart and proves that halo does actually have a much better story with more depth (at least 7 times more)

Halo has loads of plot holes, I never once said it didn't-- a plot hole is defined as something that contradicts logic or previously established rules or events that were set forth by prior information. I did say people give Mass Effect way to much credit (which was all imo by the way). And as much as ME has it's moments of good character development, Halo has its moments of abysmal development (i'm looking at you, Reach >.>).

In that post, I was only expressing my opinion, which was not meant to look deliberately as if I was saying Halo is perfect. It is logically impossible to make anything perfect. I was pointing out a lot of the flaws in ME that ME fans tend to ignore, and a lot of the plus sides in Halo they also tend to ignore. If you want me to come up with the reverse, I could do so just as well. It just so happened we were talking about ME fans in that particular thread.

Do I like Mass Effect as much as Halo? Not in the slightest, but I recognize the plus sides of Mass Effect and the downsides to Halo. Just thought I should clarify that before some of the people on this forum started jumping to conclusions, as they are apt to do.

I'm a massive Halo fan BUT I'm looking forward to ME3 far more than Halo 4.

  • 12.13.2011 2:28 PM PDT

Silent are your lips, silenced are your thoughts, silence where you stood.

Honestly for as far as the most anticipated game of 2012, it has to go to ME3. As far as marketing is concerned ME3 has been on the table for a whole year since VGA2010 while H4 has only been around since E3 of this year. On top of that look at what has been released and discussed about both games. H4 has one trailer and ME3 has multiple "ad" trailers, multiple gameplay trailers, in depth discussions about mechanics, gameplay, features ect.

On top of that look at the fan base to both games. I love Halo, and i have bought every single Halo title on release day, but on the other hand i have bought both ME's on release day, have a copy of both for my pc and xbox, and most of the dlc downloaded to both. The fans like halo because it took them in a new direction, that direction is 10 years old and wearing thin. Personally i think the new halo trilogy should be renamed Chief, simply because he's the only reason they're doing a new series. If they did that then the fans would be excited because instead of them questioning how they are going to make halo extend 3 more games, they are following their hero, chief, but that is another discussion.

Halo fans have seen and done it all over the 6 games that are out (yes wars is a halo game) and were happily satisfied when Reach was called the final Halo game. But the generation of gamers who identified with Halo are almost all grown up looking for different things in life. ME on the other hand came out in 2007. Its only been 4 years; the gamers who started on this game haven't moved too far from it yet. A cake that's a day old tastes better than one that's been sitting for a week. And when that game is also the finale that ties a series together, it's like a triple layered cake with extra frosting. Remember the buzz when halo 3 was coming out? I was on here everyday posting in the rumors forum, talking about gun fixes in the beta forum, and even shooting ideas for how the arc worked. It's the not the same thing anymore. Halo 3 was the last halo game i got excited for because of how intense the fan base for it was. I will buy halo 4 and will play it a hell of a lot. But ME3 is what has me excited for 2012 as a gamer... that and minecraft 2.0.

We should know better, because we are better.

Maybe it has something to do with the fact we know nothing about Halo 4? All we know can be summed up in one sentence: "Chief has a grenade pistol and is going to a possibly Forerunner planet." That is it. That is hardly a lot to get excited about. We should even try and avoid getting too excited or else 4 will be so over-hyped that we will be hugely disappointed with it. Mass Effect 3 has plenty to be excited about, on the other hand.

Have A Nice Day!

Commander, CammCam's Queensguard; Sapphire Mod; 34th Seat, Table of Avalon(Exiled);Captain, HAND

yolo? -blam!- that! YOLTOSS!! You Only Live Twice or Some -blam!-

As a fan of both series I do not appreciate this glorified versus thread. There is not one reason that a people can't like both and enjoy both universes aside from personal preference. And let's face it, the majority of the people here on this site would most likely prefer Halo. In my free time and when my interest was peaked I have read up on both universes. The difference between the two is that the Mass Effect universe puts everything out in front of you and it has been there from the start. The Halo universe requires a bit of digging to get all of the relevant info, but all of the relevant info is not included in the games. This does not mean it's deeper, it means it isn't need to know for any campaign that you play.

You guys can bring up arguments that other users have made and how many wiki pages there are for each, but let's be honest with each other for a moment. It doesn't matter. Just because one universe is "deeper" than another has no bearing on how good the game will or will not be. Which brings up my next point. Neither one of these games are out yet.

So one got voted by fans as "Most Anticipated" over another. Big deal. I'll buy and play both and let the respective fanboys argue their side to eternity. A part of maturation is learning to accept things that you may disagree with. I think this lesson is being lost around here.
