in halo 2 when the gravemind captured master chief and arbiter, he had control of the teleportation grid and was able to teleport master chief to high charity. question: why didn't he use the grid to teleport flood and infect high charity?

also, why didn't the gravemind in halo 3 level "the covenant", when you deactivate the firing of the rings, smash us with his tentacles? he just withdrew them when he could have rid of master chief forever.

also, im not sure, but did truth now of true purpose of the halo rings in halo 2/3? if he did, then why let tarturus activate the rings? and if he didn't now of the true purpose, then why did he left with the forerunner keyship?

also, why did regret leave for installation 05 when he was on earth? he should have nown the UNSC would follow: covenant ships follow unsc ships when they enter slipspace, thats why the unsc imposed the cole protocol. even if in amber clad was not caught in the opening, the unsc would have been able to see what direction they went? im not sure. but did regret also know of the true purpose of the rings, or didn't he know?

I'll answer one because it doesn't require much effort from me:

Good question, maybe he A) couldn't get enough through, or B) decided it would be easier to have Master Chief distract the Covenant so the Flood could attack.

also, why didn't the gravemind in halo 3 level "the covenant", when you deactivate the firing of the rings, smash us with his tentacles? he just withdrew them when he could have rid of master chief forever.
I don't know, couldn't reach them? Bad theory, but I really have no idea.

I think that Regret partially jumped into slipspace because he didn't want to get boarded.

yeah, but why did he not enter a random coordinate and then jump out and then switch directions towards delta halo so no one can follow?

My bet is that Halo had fail safes in place to keep the Flood from using the teleportation grid. I mean, if I was the creator of Halo, why should everyone be able to teleport?

what if they wanted to teleport flood off the ring into space? it could be used to defense mechanism. and if gravemind is in control of the teleport grid then i think maybe he would be able to override any potential fail safes

Remember how sentinels work? They attack anything hostile towards Halo regardless of who it is. Perhaps the Forerunners never wanted it overridden.

Which also brings up the question, how can the Halo teleportation grid be outside of Halo?

Truth had some serious issues. Not only would he have killed humanity and the Elite resistance in one shot, he would have wiped everything out. Actually makes me think of the Prophets homeworld. It is known that the prophets had a Schism when they discovered the Forerunner keyship, and were split on what to do with it.

But anywho, Truth seriously lost his marbles.

Making so many teleportations would tax the systems powering the generator too greatly. In the end he made a frigate make a very precise slipspace jump into the gap between High Charity and it's shields.
Why have a few dozen flood, when you can have a shipful?

I thought he hijacked the Frigate.

i am teh gravemind -_-

  • 12.16.2011 10:06 PM PDT

To be honest, when I first saw all this in the weekly update I thought 2 things.
#1- there is an actual legendary ending but,
#2- No matter what anyone does,(kill all the bobs, hit all switches etc) that until the "time" mentioned in "There'll be another time..." is reached there won't be a legendary ending.

The weekly update by bungie has slowed my hardcore search for what unlocks the legendary ending.
