Subject: Fanboys, How on Earth do you argue these points?

1. Melee is a lot of the time the tool of destruction for players. Is this a FPS or a boxing game?

2. You have to pay $15 for maps that HAVE ALREADY EXISTED FOR YEARS. No new design, just a fresh skin and imported into the new game.

3. Why are current developers adding so many reduced and no-bloom playlists if it was just the vocal minority who wanted the change?

4. You're banned from playing if you quit too much. For a game with a pitiful population are bans that make want users want to play something else what's really needed? How about a huge CR penalty or armor loss?

5. You can kill yourself as many times as you want without getting removed. Apparently this line of code was too much for Bungie:

If suicide count = 5 then boot player.

6. You get the same amount of CR if you go negative 20 or positive 20. This one really gets me... People are able to level up by being AFK. Special Olympics ring a bell to anyone?

7. At the touch of a button you can fly or become invincible, simply for being a mouth breather. No need to earn a tactical advantage... Just give it to them. No need to worry about map design and positioning because people can -blam!- fly.

8. The current population is representative of the classic halo formula being ruined. What was once fun and addicting is now slow and random.

Go ahead, try and argue these points.

RC Clone is the anti-thesis of a lurker.

Wait so you don't like the randomness that was added to Reach, but you also don't like reduced and no bloom being added?

Marine Corps.
Semper Fi.

My problems [with Reach] are basically just full parties, mlg, and people who go out of their way not to get killed.

They spout some crap about opinions and call it a day.

1. Melee is a lot of the time the tool of destruction for players. Is this a FPS or a boxing game?

Tons of people back in Halo 2 AND 3 relied on melee. In Halo 2 it was BXR in Halo 3 it was AR and melee death charges. Moreover, I am not going to say Reach is bad just because some people who play it are bad at it.

Posted by: KenergY
2. You have to pay $15 for maps that HAVE ALREADY EXISTED FOR YEARS. No new design, just a fresh skin and imported into the new game.

The maps WERE redone. They were tweaked to be more modern and still have the ability to be played as classic maps. Furthermore, you don't have to buy these. How is a game bad for offering nostalgic DLC?

Posted by: KenergY
3. Why are current developers adding so many reduced and no-bloom playlists if it was just the vocal minority who wanted the change?

Variety. It's the spice of life. Note they haven't changed it in the most populated lists yet.

Posted by: KenergY
4. You're banned from playing if you quit too much. For a game with a pitiful population are bans that make want users want to play something else what's really needed? How about a huge CR penalty or armor loss?

People who are quitting aren't playing anyway and are ruining matches for other players. I don't care if they switch games. They weren't staying in the match they were in with me anyway.

Posted by: KenergY
5. You can kill yourself as many times as you want without getting removed. Apparently this line of code was too much for Bungie:

If suicide count = 5 then boot player.

Few people do that and if they weren't to do that, they could shoot your shields down, hold the objective, block your shots, etc. You really can't stop griefers. They always find a way.

Posted by: KenergY
6. You get the same amount of CR if you go negative 20 or positive 20. This one really gets me... People are able to level up by being AFK. Special Olympics ring a bell to anyone?

Assuming you don't have all commendations maxed, you get more credits for most of your kills. You also get more for winning. Those who AFK in Matchmaking outside of Firefight are generally banned and Halo rank means little anyway since it's simply a time played tracker so who cares?

Posted by: KenergY
7. At the touch of a button you can fly or become invincible, simply for being a mouth breather. No need to earn a tactical advantage... Just give it to them. No need to worry about map design and positioning because people can -blam!- fly.

So play MLG, Classic, Team Snipers, SWAT, Squad Battle, etc. The game offers plenty of lists if you don't like how it is currently set up.

8. The current population is representative of the classic halo formula being ruined. What was once fun and addicting is now slow and random.

The current population is representative of the fact that most people like easy games. That's why CoD is on top right now. It's easy to play, it rewards you for everything you do, it's easy to get long killstreaks, and you can quit out of any and all matches until you get placed with easy kills.

If population represents what's good in a game, then lag, terrible spawns, unbalanced guns, killstreaks, no ranking system, perks, and 1 second kill times are clearly what people want.

  • 12.13.2011 12:27 PM PDT

@An Average Gamer

Your arguments are for the most part just work-arounds. You're avoiding actually fixing these problems. It seems that Bungie has the same problem with identifying a mistake, accepting accountability and fixing it.

Few people do that and if they weren't to do that, they could shoot your shields down, hold the objective, block your shots, etc. You really can't stop griefers. They always find a way.

This is a perfect example of skirting the issue. It's a simple fix to solve an obvious problem. You're saying that a fix shouldn't be made because other problems still exist?

Look at it this way:

Let's say there is one bridge across a river. All along that bridge, there are broken boards, slippery steps, and several weak points. I point these out and say we should fix the bridge and make it strong. You suggest that the bridge is satisfactory and that there is a rope swing to the right and tight rope on the left so I should stop complaining.

Open your eyes. People like CoD because it's fast paced, rewarding, and actually fun to get better.

1. Melee is a lot of the time the tool of destruction for players. Is this a FPS or a boxing game? - Some people that play the game use the cheapest tactic. Kinda like sitting in a corner in CoD Or hiding in a bush with a ghillie suit. Just because they play like that, Doesn't make the game bad.

2. You have to pay $15 for maps that HAVE ALREADY EXISTED FOR YEARS. No new design, just a fresh skin and imported into the new game. - You don't HAVE To buy them. Some people just like some nice nostalgia.

3. Why are current developers adding so many reduced and no-bloom playlists if it was just the vocal minority who wanted the change? - It's not like they're changing every playlist to this. There are still many which don't have this feature.

4. You're banned from playing if you quit too much. For a game with a pitiful population are bans that make want users want to play something else what's really needed? How about a huge CR penalty or armor loss? - Because you can get lagged out. If they were unable to quit, They'd just be a jackass the whole game and make the match harder to play.

5. You can kill yourself as many times as you want without getting removed. Apparently this line of code was too much for Bungie:

If suicide count = 5 then boot player. - Ever heard of lag issues causing suicides. That would mean a player that isn't actually trying to kill themselves could get booted for committing suicide too much.

6. You get the same amount of CR if you go negative 20 or positive 20. This one really gets me... People are able to level up by being AFK. Special Olympics ring a bell to anyone? - Last I knew, Ranks = Different cR and so does more kills and such.

7. At the touch of a button you can fly or become invincible, simply for being a mouth breather. No need to earn a tactical advantage... Just give it to them. No need to worry about map design and positioning because people can -blam!- fly. - Different playlists have different set ups. Some don't have Armour Abilities, Some do. If you have a problem, Go play a playlist that doesn't include them.

8. The current population is representative of the classic halo formula being ruined. What was once fun and addicting is now slow and random. - CoD Gets a ton of people because it is really easy to play and win. Halo actually is at least harder having to use more ammo to kill an enemy and generally pick up guns other than those you spawn with from across the map.

Go ahead, try and argue these points.

  • 12.13.2011 1:10 PM PDT

1. One of Halo: CE's accomplishments was to be the first game to make melee part of a strategic move in gameplay. Now it is the same as a weapon that takes half your health. I don't see the problem.

2. You obviously know absolutely nothing about how maps work, and what you just said is the height of idiocy.

3. It wasn't a minority that wanted Bloom changed. There was obviously something wrong with it. The debate comes in when we discuss HOW to change it.

4. The population is huge. Hundreds of thousands every day. Over 300,000 in the last 24 hours. The quit ban punishes people that quit in general. In a game that does not let players drop into games, that is an amazing feature. So thank you for stating something positive about Halo: Reach.

5. Who cares if they kill themselves? They might as well be AFK. There's no difference, is there? It's just dependent on the gametype as to if the team loses points for them. So, again, you don't have a clue what you're talking about.

6. I don't like how credits are distributed either. Hardly a big deal considering how folks like yourself are always stating how rank means nothing anyways.

7. The issue with the jetpack is a matter of what map it is enabled on. Other than some poor judgements in that regard there is no problem whatsoever.

8. The current population is doing great? 300k+. I haven't touched Halo: Reach myself except for customs last week in months. Since September I believe. And I still realize it's a great and fun game. So your 'point' is completely invalid.

Anything else mate?
:/

"It's" is a single word as a contraction.

1) If you're in close quarters, the melee is usually something people use. If you are refering to something like the double melee thing, at least it isn't a one-hit knife.

2) Yes, they are old maps, but not for the new game. Not only do I have disposable income, but it was included with my copy of Anniversary. So either way, I am entirely fine with it.

3) I didn't complain. I'm not still not really complaining. I am just relatively sick and tired of people who try to back it up that it is either "the best thing ever", or "its what a true halo game is (or isn't)". As long as I have a playlist I want to play, then I'm fine.

4) There will always be quitters. If they like quitting games, then I'm sure they wouldn't mind not playing (hence the given ban). Some people may think bans deter players from playing, which is true, but it discourages those players who constantly quit. And I'm fine with those people gone.

5) I don't think they thought that people would be that stupid. I don't blame them either, when I think the community can't get worse, it does.

6) In my veiws, skill has it's own benefit and prestige. If I am good, then I am happy. If someone sucks and they are still happy, then fine. I will not speak for the AFKers, I choose not to think of the idiotic train of thouhts going through their mind.

7) Don't like it? There is a playlist for it. Some people would like to have fun, whether that is with or without the armor abilities is their choice. But saying someone is wrong because their opinion is different from yours is ignorant.

8) Classic Halo formula? You could argue that. Although I disagree, there is far more competition, and a change in the entire community itself.

You can play online on them plus there is new pathways.

Well because it more then the minority and you don't have to play them.

Huge CR penalty or armor loss is dumb and I don't want to play with quitters

Credit penalty = derankers.

People would search for games to quit them so they can have a low rank. No thanks.

Quit ban does not stop quitters but it does make people quit the game. Because of that I wouldn't mind seeing it disappear.

  • 12.15.2011 1:21 AM PDT

Here is a problem solver to your arguement

If you don't like it,

-blam!- off

  • 12.15.2011 1:58 AM PDT

What Viper said.

Plus most of the people who will argue your points do so as they swallow Bungie's load.

  • 12.15.2011 1:59 AM PDT

How on Earth do you argue these points?

the answer is I don't, I happen to enjoy the game and as such I play it, it may not be perfect, it may only be average (well, i would put it ever so slightly above average) but I enjoy it enough to play it.

and guess what, when halo 4 comes out I'm sure I'll play that too.

P.S. enjoying a game and thinking it's alright does not make me a fan boi, and not giving a flying -blam!- what you think of the game doesn't either.
