Subject: Why the hate for ATLAS?

Lol

ATLAS won't be affecting that many matches to worry about. All it does is tell you when and where weapons and vehicles spawn. Anyone who has played Reach more than a few months will already know when respawns occurs. The app is just here to help lesser skilled players who pay more actually be able to time power weapons.

Not to mention, they have to take their eyes and hands off the game in order to use ATLAS on their phone. This means for a brief amount of time there doing absolutely nothing which means easy kills.

Always up for REACH customs!

I hate it because I can't even use it. It crashes all the time on my iPhone 4.

1. It's been hacked to also show enemies.

2. Someone could make a head rig to keep their hands free while using it.

lol not being able to time weapons and know where your team is.

That being said, if it's hacked and used against me - gay.

Just because they know where you are doesn't mean they can out shoot you in a fight.
Anyone smart can use that cheat to gain a huge advantage in a fight.

The 343 forums suck. They're full of retarded kids and mods who got butthurt in the B.net forums for being told that they're bad.

It's the advantage of having perfect callouts at all times, even if your team is full of silent retards.

what nerd would actually go through the trouble of making a headrig just so they can see when weapons drop?

Somebody that's incredibly desperate to improve but really sucks at the game?

lolnope.

We don't need -blam!- Apps for our phones. They should focus on fixing the god damn game first. Fix it all. Instead of wasting time. That's why I dislike ATLAS. 343 is wasting time on new features that keep being exploited easily and making Reach worse. Custom Challenges? Exploitable. ATLAS? Exploitable beyond all comprehension. The TU? Hardly did enough to make this game any better (/opinion). Fix the game first. Then add new -blam!-. I mean yeah, I guess ATLAS is coo land all but they could have at least tried to anticipate the threat of hackers.

Come on dude. To be fair, the TU was an attempt to fix the game, and they did that before these "exploitable gimmicks".

What if they did, but there's nothing they can do about it? I mean, the program is linked straight to the game it seems, which means that it has the ability to show EVERYTHING, possibly even what AAs and weapons everyone has. Maybe they tried to limit it to only show some aspects, but since the program is linked straight to the game, it was inevitable.

ATLAS overall was just a bad idea from the start, it seems.

Come on dude. To be fair, the TU was an attempt to fix the game, and they did that before these "exploitable gimmicks".
I give them some credit for trying. But there was much more that was desired by the community to be addressed and of course even myself personally. I tried to get their attention and I tried to get the communities help even on the waypoint forums, but it seriously seems like there's no way of getting them to fix anything major. They don't post in their own forums. At least anyone with the ability to make TU changes doesn't anyways from my knowledge.

I never see 343 employees post save for maybe BS angel and some other community leader guy. I got into contact with BS angel and asked them to show the people in charge of the TU a thread I made with a list full of exploits in the game, AFK spots to shut down if possible (which I later found out is impossible), the revenant sniper glitch and Gauss Hog glitch, and several other gameplay issues. BS angel told me in a PM that she sent it over to their matchmaking team to see if they could do anything. I was pleased with this. However, by the time the TU comes out, none of these issues are addressed. Aside from this, we were promised a lot of other stuff over there by 343 too. For example, with the December Playlist TU, we were told by BS angel that the cR cap was going to be raised. I had seen several people including myself, ask the question even via PM "What's the cR cap going to be raised to?" No answer. Then the cap didn't get raised this past week and even more people were confused by this. Then more people had asked BS Angel what went wrong and still no answer.

My point is in my giant wall of text and ranting is basically this. If they have the time to introduce a bunch of new features such as ATLAS and Custom Challenges all of which are already being taken advantage of by the community, then they definitely have the time, people and resources to give this game the massive overhaul it needs to really become the best Halo game to date. That is in terms of multi player. The Campaign is an atrocity which is irreversible. The least they could do is actually get a quick answer or two out to us on their own forums when we ask them politely once in awhile. Sorry but that's why I hate ATLAS at this moment. Because 343 isn't working on key problems with Reach and instead are trying to make a quick buck with an iPhone app that most people will probably not even use mid game with the exception of hackers.

Lol

Dark Martyr, 343 is in no way, shape, or form required to listen to you or anyone else in the halo community for that matter. You can give suggestions but you can not "demand" a company to fix problems unless the problems are so game-breaking that no one is going to be playing the game at all. Key problems to you may not be key problems to the financial stability of 343. Unless it affects them personally or financially, there not going to take you or anyone's suggestions to high regard. If you were a Microsoft employer, who deals with 343 financial situation, then they would listen to you, because their lives would be at stake.

Then I suppose I should get a job as an employer at Microsoft if I want Reach to get fixed properly then? ATAS like I said, is cool. But to me, seems like a waste of time and resources spent. They should focus in on other areas. That's all I'm trying to say. /myrantingandinsanedemandsforchange

  • 12.14.2011 11:05 AM PDT

Lol

I know what your saying, and I agree to a certain point. But there is no point in ranting when nothing is going to change. Nothing changed with Bungie and nothing is going to change with 343. The TU playlist did improve some things, but it wasn't going to save this game. Halo is what you make of it, the designers aren't going to cater to the fans every cry and whim. There going to take the path to make the most profit.

  • 12.14.2011 11:09 AM PDT

I agree if this thing is getting hacked and giving players extreme advantages it needs to get pulled. Yeah it may have been a great idea but...come on do you really think those online "sleazy online jerks" would have actually used it for its original purpose?

Because people can hack it and use it to display the other teams location which is bad for Arena/MLG.

i don't think there's much of a chance for that, the app is fully online, so i'm pretty sure who ever hacks it, might just turn back to normal or get blocked or something like that... lol

  • 12.14.2011 11:16 AM PDT

this ATLAS thing was all a bad idea all along, now halo reach matchmaking is ruined, they just made a good TU and they ended up adding a stupid app so that ppl can hack and then cheat on matchmaking, reach is trully over now!

Really? I thought that the app was $5.00. I was wrong about that then. I'm sorry. Still doesn't matter though. They still wasted resources then if the app is just free.

Hi.

I don't see a problem.

It's a tool for beginners that offers no advantage over intermediate and advanced players. As for the "easy exploitability," I haven't seen any proof, so I'll reserve my judgement. Though, I wouldn't doubt it, seeing that most phone apps are very easily exploited.

Its an advantage that you purchase. Atlas itself is not a problem. The concept of who paid more has an advantage is a dangerous precedent to set.

Will the Legendary Edition of Halo 4 give the player overshield off spawn because they paid more? Bad.

I love ATLAS so much though...

It's getting hate from the competitive community (Easy fix is to not allow it in competitive gametypes) and it's also getting hate from the people who think that 343 are some next satan and that Bungie is the bane of human existence (Which, sadly, cannot be fixed).
