Why, God, why did it have to be the Pit?

THATS MY COOL MAN I CAN'T TAKE IT OFF!

Because 3/4 of the MLG community are retarded Halo 3 kids who worship it.

I mean, it's bad enough that Slayer is even an option for the map.

It's bad enough that the map was even remade.

What's the worst thing: Like Reachtards and their Sword Base, if it shows up as a voting option, it's ALWAYS voted for.

When the game is over, the king and pawn go into the same box

Are you talking about the forgeworld version?

The thing I don't understand, is why are the H3 maps put on a pedestal all of a sudden? Has everyone forgotten the H3 forum? Back then, H3 maps were hated, and H2's maps were up on the pedestal.

Halo 2s maps are still on a pedestal for me. Halo 3 had acceptable maps.

I guess with so many crappy Reach maps, Halo 3 maps look amazing.

And I'm talking about any version of the Pit. Halo 3 or Reach.

What was so special about the Pit anyway?

Flag on it is okay.

Slayer? I couldn't tell you. I'm too busy crouching around our Green and Longhall waiting for 1 team to send a guy through Sword.

Let me take a perfectly decent map, plop a giant wall down the middle of it, and have you tell me that doesn't make gameplay pathetically slow.

  • 12.15.2011 5:11 AM PDT

Because The Pit is clearly one of the best Halo maps ever.

Anyway, I really don't know. It wasn't ever really a good map, it was just an alright map. Its made even worse by the fact that everybody votes for it every time it comes up in the rotation (every other vote).

I've played on Sanctuary maybe twice in the last 48 hours, and Zealot like four times. The Pit gets really old, really quickly.

THATS MY COOL MAN I CAN'T TAKE IT OFF!

There's a few FW Guardians floating around. Nothing official though.

Yeah most of the 'popular' Halo 3 maps were terrible. Guardian, Pit, Narrows (OH GOD, NARROWS), Foundry, all crap. Construct and Citadel were the only good small ones original to Halo 3.

Really? The Pit is up there with Battle Creek for me. Simply amazing.

Real talk in this post.

If Guardian gets implemented, hell if any more FW maps get implemented, I won't touch MLG.

To anyone who likes the Pit ITT - why?

Why? The map is perfectly balanced. It required teamwork to win a game, to lock a an advantageous spot down, to "run" the flag. That map took a lot of discipline to win on.

The Pit is generally accepted by anyone who enjoyed playing H3 competitively as one of the best maps and is easily one of my favourites. Good times playing MLG 2 Flag :)

So does every map.
to lock a an advantageous spot down,So does every map.
to "run" the flag.So does every map.
That map took a lot of discipline to win on.If by 'discipline' you mean 'patience', then yes.

Well not all FW maps are bad. I don't know if you've heard of Retroactive, but that's an excellent map that IMO got robbed of its chance on the circuit. Wouldn't mind seeing that one go in.

And while Guardian was bad in Halo 3, with faster kill times it plays a little better.

I don't support any more grey going on to the circuit.

I'd like to see what MLG forgers can do with Anniversary maps before FW maps are even thought of.

  • 12.15.2011 5:45 AM PDT

I never really thought Heretic could be counted as a legitimate MLG map. I never found it to be all that fun when watching, but [no doubt] it did require teamwork doing the flag-hopping from Base to Highest point to Base.

I love Consrtuct. Not only is it a fun map to play, but the waterfall always gives me an nostalgic moment.

Well, I'll stop rambling, but I'll agree with you: FW maps are boring. I think a texture pack would be a nice small edition to the game. [<<< Nerdy reference to Minecraft.]

Good post Bookshelf.

If you would like to know more about Mythic difficulty please go to this thread. Thank you.

Please do not send me "recruitment messages" as I'm not interested in joining any groups currently.

The Pit is a bad map - little verticality and the giant wall make it play slowly at high levels. It's boring to watch and boring to play.

I'm interested to see if MLG will make more of an effort with non-Forge World maps next season. It would definitely make for a more varied viewer experience as well as making MLG more accessible to default players.

Beaver Creek, Damnation, and Powerhouse are the three I'm keeping my eye on.
