The Pit is a bad map - little verticality and the giant wall make it play slowly at high levels. It's boring to watch and boring to play.

I'm interested to see if MLG will make more of an effort with non-Forge World maps next season. It would definitely make for a more varied viewer experience as well as making MLG more accessible to default players.

Beaver Creek, Damnation, and Powerhouse are the three I'm keeping my eye on.

I heard talk of possible Sword Base in MLG.

Meh. I doubt it's anything more than somebody fantasising about using every default map. Even then it could potentially work for KotH, albeit not very well.

They have better options, I don't think Sword Base has any realistic chance.

But yes, I'd love to see Powerhouse make it. As well as any other Anniversary map they could make work.

the forge remake is out of proportion though, everything is huge

You follow the standard set before you by fools who can't even get a handle on the rules of their own language.

Why didn't they just make a midship remake and implement that? It'd actually work now.

The Pit wasn't that good in Halo 3.

Gh0st - some of the Midship remakes I've played on would have been better than the Pit. Hands down.

Midship... It surprises me that it worked as well as it did considering there's not really anything of value to fight over. It's literally a case of squashing 8 people into a small space and having them fight it out.

Not to say it's a bad map, but it is very simplistic. Definitely not a trend that all maps should follow - if every map has a similar design philosophy there's little point in playing on different maps because they all challenge the same skillset rather than offering varying challenges.

The thing I don't understand, is why are the H3 maps put on a pedestal all of a sudden? Has everyone forgotten the H3 forum? Back then, H3 maps were hated, and H2's maps were up on the pedestal.
Halo 3 had the master race of BTB maps. I could really care less about the rest of the playlists so the Halo 3 maps are on a pedestal for me.

I never really liked the pit unless the other team was stupid (camping sword with maulers).

My favorite CTF map in H3 would have to have been Standoff. The dynamic of opening the gate was too much fun.

Non forge world maps that could possibly be implemented in MLG-
Powerhouse (one of my favorite maps in Halo)
Battle Creek
Reflection with spawns on the sides of the map
Anchor 9 with static spawns

They could also use Tempest and Timberland as forging maps.

I disagree. The middle of the map is sunken in and there really isn't anywhere to be held other than your turret, above shotgun, and the observation deck with that little window. That leaves 1 of your teammates doing nothing.

Not enough middle ground.

I'm going to make a no space Anchor 9 variant, but I'm trying to figure out if I should leave out that small "porch" or whatever in the front. Because most of the time I play, I end up holding that Y hallway, and outside is the only way to retreat.
