I am a scrub, the definition of random, but I really want to get better, I know most of the callouts and am just trying to learn. I don't want to group with better players and drag them down, and I only have one friend that actively plays Halo. Should I stop searching as a random?

It'll improve your aim.

Good players know team work, and you typically don't master that as a random.

Its best to go in with a full team, because it not only improves aim, but map movement, communication, and general teamwork.

At OP: No, you're only as good as when you're part of a coherent team. Lolrandumbs typically do not work as a coherent team, so poof goes your skill.
