Subject: Regular Members Get Banned While Identical Mythic Doesn't?

Spread the love...

I've sort of noticed this before. If the title is a little confusing, let me rephrase it;

A Mythic Member's comment, if it had been posted by a regular Member, would have caused the Regular Member to be banned. However, the Mythic Member is not banned for the same comment.

I say this because sometimes Mythics reply with sarcastic, evil, or troll-like comments. Everyone laughs (including me) and everything, so it's okay.

However, if a Regular Member had posted that, I think they would have been banned. In other words, I feel like the blue bar is a sort of shield around the Member, making it slightly harder for them to be banned.

I explained this pretty badly, but I just don't know how to say it. Also, I have nothing against Mythic Members or anything, and I don't want everyone to hate me. I'm just trying to bring up a point and see if people agree/disagree with me. Also, it doesn't have to be specifically a Mythic Member, it can be any other high-ranked or well-known Member.

EDIT- After reading many of the comments, I think I've figured out the reason for this, even if it doesn't occur often. I think it's because the Mods actually know the people posting, so they can tell they're joking. However, they don't know the new Members and therefore can't tell if they're being serious or not. Am I right?

Best of random chance

You explained it fine, but I haven't perceived anything of the sort. And I don't think anything could be done about it.

In a time long past, the armies of the dark came again to the lands of men. Their leaders became known as the fallen lords, and their terrible sorcery was without equal in the west.
In 30 years they reduced the civilized nations into carrion and ash. Until the free city of Madrigal alone defined them. An army gathered there, and a desperate battle was joined against the fallen
Heros were born in the fire and bloodshed of the wars which followed and their names and deeds will never be forgotten

I think part of it is the mods probably know users who have been here longer (mythics) and can tell when they are joking/playing around when they say things that can sound offensive but will ban newer members for similar offences becuase they can't tell.

You're wrong. You're making things up in your head.

Everything you've said is absolutely incorrect and you're being extremely ignorant about it all.

I also see mods (Hey, Recon) that post things that would probably warrant a warning to a user.

Well...

On a more serious note, I don't find this to be true because I don't see any evidence of it.

I believe it is do to the mods knowing their humor and knowing when they are joking or not.

However, when regular members confront well known members on some of their comments, and their response is less then approprite, then I can only say they are being favored.

I don't think the mods mean too, but if someone is always doing good, its hard to see them doing something bad. And visa versa.

In my experience, mostly only new members care about (act differently towards) base rank. What makes you think that moderators of all people treat mythic differently?

You know what I'd like to see? Proof!

Also this.

If you want me or anyone else to believe your hypothesis, OP, then you should provide examples. Or at least evidence.

Right now you're using baseless and ridiculous claims.

This, in combination with the fact that members who have been here longer have in a way earned the right to push the rules a tad. Maybe I am wrong, but I feel that even if it is unspoken, mythic members have more rights.

Mythics get banned just as much as regular members. You should see the number of people who complain about their bans in the mythic group.

“Strange,” mused the Director, as they turned away, “strange to think that even in Our Ford’s day most games were played without more apparatus than a ball or two and a few sticks and perhaps a bit of netting. imagine the folly of allowing people to play elaborate games which do nothing whatever to increase consumption.”

The Black Chapter!

What this thread needs is an example of two identical / very comparable posts, from members (one blue, one black) with similar ban histories, being treated differently by the same moderator.

Off you go now. I'll be right here when you get back.

Balancing speed with visual fidelity.

Mythic Members probably say it with some class, whereas the normal members are just being retarded.

You don't even need to be a moderator to warn/threaten yourself. I do it all the time.

Izak, you've been replying to spam threads/posts too often. You should clean up your act or else I will report you to the moderators. This is my first and final warning. Don't test me.

Now, in the quantum moment before the closure, when all become one. One moment left. One point of space and time.

I know who you are.

You are Destiny.

The "blue-bar" is by no means a shield. Your examples are a bit far-fetched, as Mythics -- the same as everyone else -- get hammered down for breaking the rules.

Hoobla, do you have any examples of this happening? Not to imply that I disagree with you (remaining neutral for now), but it's difficult to form an opinion on something like this without any evidence.

There comes a time in every mans life... and that time is not now.

There is no such thing as an identical comment. The situation, context and intent can all differ.

“Oh, it’s a little bit of everything, it’s the mountains, it’s the fog, it’s the news at six o’clock, it’s the death of my first dog, it’s the angels up above me, it’s the song that they don’t sing, It’s a little bit of everything.”
- Dawes, A little bit of everything

It's kind of like a get-out-of-jail free card. Mythic members are people who have been here for quite some time, so generally people can tell when they are making a joke or not. Newer members don't have that luxury, and as such, are often held to a higher standard.

SPOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOON!

Its odd then that I get more "complaints" about unfair bans from Legendary and Mythic members than I do from regular members. Even though I agree that regular members are banned muuuch more in terms of sheer numbers. The difference is, there are simply more regular members, so they are banned more often solely because there's like a million times as many regular members. Its odd to me, that the rations remain the same, but are inverse. There's something like 10,000:1 regular members to Mythic and Legendary members, but I get like 10:1 angry PMs from titled members compared to regular members.

I don't know if mythics are given additional slack. I certainly don't give any. I suspect this conclusion came as the result of a biased anecdote. Though, as I said, I don't honestly know.

Bull.

Seriously, this is utter crap and is just as subjective to the observer as the accuser is stating that the ninja are.

I'm getting really fed up with title-crap and the pettiness is breeds. Some folks are able to enjoy the small perk/badge that it is and other folks are so petty, insecure and childish to imagine that the rest of the world is as petty, insecure and similarly motivated as they are.

If we didn't have a potential site revision coming, I would seriously ask that the ninja be set to NOT see titles or colored bars to prevent this sort of BS whining.

Grow the hell up and get over yourself and your perceived injustices.
