It was a joke in reference to that other silly thread.

Stupidity, when sufficiently advanced, is indistinguishable from magic

I don't think it matters that much. The mods certainly do try to be fair, and as long as you personally do nothing wrong you shouldn't have to worry about it.

Which is not to say that we can't get nitpicky in this thread, but in the grand scheme of things....

Jerk.

That is the worst ASCII -blam!- I have ever seen.
I'm not trying to be an annoying person right now, but I once was banned for ASCII in my post. He is a mythic member, and this is sort of proving the op's point. Not that I agree with it.

If a mythic member were to post something vulgar or against the rules, they would surely get banned.

To prove to you that I'm correct, I invite any member with a blue bar to please demonstrate this.

You people have just sent my sides into orbit. A bunch of MLG try hards sucking the dick of some supposed pro half the thread hasn't even heard of. Classic.

Go ahead and ban me. I don't care. This title is worthless. If I am banned I will just serve it out in groups or an offsite forum that I am setting up with Obi. Its all cool.

what the hell even is ASC11? Where's the quote button?

By the way, i've been banned for TONS of things that i see regular members getting banned for. Warnings, too.

Sometimes i see regular members get away with stuff that i've been banned for in the past.

"That's about all that can be said for plots, which anyway are just one thing after another, a what and a what and a what.

Now try how and why."

What is it with all of these "the mods suck at this" and "the mods are biased by that" threads? The moderators are people. Sometimes they're more critical of normal members. Other times, they're more critical of titled members. They don't have to, nor are they able to act perfectly consistent. This is because the forums are neither consistent nor rational.

Truth be told, I actually want the mods to be a bit sporadic (well, so long as they don't start laying down the hammer for the hell of it). It forces people to either play on the safe side or risk being disciplined. Why is this desirable? Because it prevents gaming the system. It means that people who care about not getting banned will be forced to think before they post. If they don't they might avoid a bullet, or they might end up playing schadenfreude. There aren't that many moderators compared to the overall user base, so a lot of the moderator's jobs are to put the fear into bad users' hearts and minds.

Kind of like Batman. Batman is awesome.

I am an orange mist amongst a sea of blue, so my flames may stand out and represent all those who trully believe in this great sacriment of Bungie history, let my story be told as the only legendary still standing even after I fall Just as my comrades did so graciously to fight for the true loyal.
If you have legendary, would you stand by my side and go forth into a sea blue and demise as my brothers fighting for those who are trully loyal to Bungie?

It's not title or any of that. It's more a of a mod thing. by mod thing I mean those members are given more chances and know most mods to a level where they may accept their rude or obnoxious behavior more then someone who like myself would be considered "Armed and Stupid" that at any time could do something wrong, over react and screw themselves over.

It could also be said that higher titled members are held to stricter standards because they should know better.

I think that Recon's notion of forcing Ninja's not to see titles is actually a great idea. It would certainly get people to shut up and be quiet, although, people will always find something to -blam!- at. Sorry ninja's, you cant get rid of it :)

And yes, I would actually say that we are held to higher standards than other members. We are more or less expected to act decently (which we do most of the time).

I was Mythic at the time too. I mean, COME ON. It was only a warning, but still. This should pretty much prove there isn't really favoritism. It's just luck. Some get caught, some don't.

I'm still waiting for an example OP.

And don't refer me to Achilles's post, because "<3 xoxoxoxo" isn't a "sarcastic, evil, or troll-like" post. I want an example of a Mythic Member getting away with something that actually deserves a ban.

  • 12.15.2011 5:34 PM PDT

@trueunderdog

Chapter

Narwhallace Smithington: Gone, but not forgotten. Never approve of anything lil guy. <3
Furious George: The new -blam!-

A fair bit of Mythic members would disagree with the OP.

  • 12.15.2011 5:46 PM PDT

I'm well aware. It's pretty -blam!-, and I really don't get why it happens. Probably because the Mods know most Mythic Members and tend to receive more leniency by that token.

  • 12.15.2011 5:47 PM PDT

I remember when I used this space to put cool looking links to my chapters back in the day. I don't even know why I'm using it now. Why are you even reading this? You must be interested in me. Still reading?

I've been banned as a Mythic member. I would have to agree with Recon. Just enjoy it or ignore it.

I'm a college dropout.

I was going to make a joke about how they can't ban me, but some Ninja's have been known to look through a users recent posts and find something they can ban someone with for the lulz.

  • 12.15.2011 5:48 PM PDT

Ugh...

First on a BWU.. yeah, I'm cool.

ODST;MYTHIC Screenshot winner! One of the first to get their hands on the mythic map pack.

I think most higher titled members know how to steer clear of getting banned. I've never witnessed a Mythic say something identical to what a Member has said and only the member gets banned.

I was a Mythic a while ago, until I got a warning about this one thread I was posting in. Other members got banned though. There was this member in the Flood, he's been perma-banned several times before, he keeps coming back with alts, saying everyone on the Flood is a loser, blah blah blah.

Most users, including myself were getting pissed at him. Trying to keep a level head was hard, I slipped up and indirectly called him a douche.

Other members who were banned directly called him derogatory slurs. They got banned.

So yeah, while I (a Mythic at the time) got a warning, and members got banned for the same sort of post (being 'flaming'), the posts were not identical.

My post was much more level headed, less offensive, I didn't bypass the filter. If I had of, I would have gotten banned for sure, but I, along with many higher titled members are smarter than that. (Mostly because I have first hand experience being banned for stupid stuff I've done, learn from your mistakes)

They can't ban me. I'd tell Bungie and the daring yet brainless mod would be made to stand in the corner. Or I'd be booted from HFCS. Whateva, I do want I want!

Anyway, I'd laugh so -blam!- hard. Has any Mod actually been bad enough to get kicked?

I also see mods (Hey, Recon) that post things that would probably warrant a warning to a user.

IIRC, Recon was called out in a thread for breaking a rule that would've usually warranted a ban on regular (non-moderator) members, so he gave himself a three day ban. It was a while ago, so I might be off on a few details.

OT: Mythix run bnet.
