In the books, the covenant conquree planets by glassing them with orbital plasma bombarbment. Why don't they just glass earth instead of landing on it and invading it? There's only two planets they never completly classed: REACH and Sigmus Octanus. And that was because that they had forerunner stuff on them. Could it be that Earth was once a major forerunner planet? Maybye in H2 the MC must unlock the sevtrets of the Forerunners on earth in order to stop the covenant...what do u guys think?

The huge underground multiplayer map that we got some screenshots of looks like it may be on earth, and there is a big forerunner looking building in the mddle

Yea, I agree with RunningMan, I think there are definitely some Forerunner artifacts on Earth. This ties in with my other theory about the genetic modification on the part of the Forerunner to make the indigenous species on certain planets sentient. Maybe that's why the game takes place in Africa? Human life supposedly started there, so maybe that's where the Forerunner "genesis machine" is? Also, if you look carefully at the art in the recent Halo 2 OXM issue in the table of contents, you'll see the Chief holding a rocket launcher and looking at what appears to be a Forerunner structure rising out of the ground. And there is no ring in the background.
