you can't work on a BTB map until you finish your ODST Invasion map.

Speaking of which, are you an official member of BTB.net now?

Nope, and I'm not doing BTB after the Invasion map. I have another project I wanna finish.

Halo CE Invasion?

So this isn't research for a new map. Just a normal "I was wondering" type thread?

Infection in Halo 3 isn't zombie killing; it's ethnic cleansing. Have you ever noticed that these "zombies" are just black Spartans?

Covies on Valhalla.

Best. BTB. Ever.

The sad thing is, Halo: Reach could re-capture that feeling easily. For a game that boasts the single largest degree of player gametype customisation options on the Xbox 360, it boggles my mind why when I jump into BTB I play vanilla Team Slayer on Haemorrhage every single time.

Where's the love for the Elites and the Covenant sandbox? Ghosts, revenants, wraiths, plasma pistols, plasma grenades. Pure, distilled carnage. No where to be seen. Do Elites think fighting over flags, collecting and holding skulls, and standing in giant glowing rings are all beneath them?

Ohai, I'm Loscocco (pronounced Loss-cocoa). I'm a college student (computer science major), 3D animator, and long-time Halo player.

Probably either Halo 2 or Halo 3. Great map selections: Waterworks, Headlong, Valhalla, Avalanche, Sandtrap, Terminal, etc...

I'll say Halo 3 just because I have more memories of it and there was more variety in gametypes.

@spawn031

"So much of what we do is ephemeral and quickly forgotten, even by ourselves, so it's gratifying to have something you have done linger in people's memories." John Williams

Favorite gametypes in BTB were:

1 Flag on Relic
1 Flag on Zanzibar/Last Resort
2 Flag Heavy on Valhalla
2 Flag Classic on Santrap
Assault on Sidewinder/Avalanche
1 Flag on Rats Nest
2 Flag Heavy on Standoff
Phantom Pistols on Waterworks
Shotty Snipers on Waterworks
1 Flag on Headlong

There are more. I think the problem with Reach's maps is the lack of map movement. There is too little space to move around in. In Slayer gametypes, the spawns should always be static, otherwise there is no point to obtaining map control. It's tough to compare what the better gametypes are for BTB to Reach's standards, since in Reach matchmaking, there is no incentive to win for the opposing team even if you're trying very hard to score the objective.

Half the time people quit anyways. Halo 2/3 had a better player base for BTB games especially, because everyone was trying to win the game. Not to mentioned Ranked BTB in Halo 3 for a while. Even if one team is leagues ahead in raw skill, very few players quit. Halo 2 had vehicle spawns much faster than Halo Reach. Maybe it's because Reach's vehicles are made out of paper ma-shay and seem to die faster. But it does seem that I spend lots of down time just sitting at a base waiting for a vehicle to spawn.

On a side note - What happened to BTB Splockets? That was awesome!

BTB is my favorite gametype. i play it 90% percent of the time.
i gotta say i F* hate hemorrage. either you get a sniper or your screwed. the distances between bases are too long to go on foot. there arent even enough rocks to cover you from guys in warthogs or snipers. in my opinion hemorrages is just good for some pure team snipers. it really is about patience and taking LONG shots. not just running around trying to get a body shot and ended with the pistol, that is not sniping
anyway, bring back BTB community, i want more maps already!!!!

R.I.P. Halo 2 <33333333
Do not play halo much anymore. Barely ever come on here.

Halo 2 had the best BTB imo. Halo 3's wasn't bad either with maps like Standoff. Reach's BTB sucks because the maps suck and the vehicles are made of paper. The worst part about Reach is the credit system. It pretty much turns objective games into slayer games, unless you're with a team.

  • 12.16.2011 12:15 PM PDT

chances are I don't care who you are or what you say.

honestly I don't have a favorite BTB

I like them all, each game's is very different

Agreed. All the changes are good and add variety. Do we really want another Halo 3? Just running around with one gun and no armor abilities? It's good that 343 wants to try something new. Do we really want the same thing for three more games?

All I have to say is I don't know how they did it, but Bungie somehow made BTB boring.

My vavorite thing is how versatile it can be. You can go on foot, sit back and snipe, grab a powerweapon, use vehicles, etc. The maps need major adjustment. The spawns need to be adjusted and the postioning of the weapons/vehicles needs to be fixed. No team should have more of an advantage than the other off of spawn.

Probably because most of the maps are lame and vehicle combat sucks

And there are no interesting maps like Sandtrap

vehicle combat sucks
This. The outcome of every vehicle conflict seems predetermined. I miss the time when a ghost could realistically outplay a hog.
