Only very recently in multiplayer Reach, I have played against teams who during individual matchups appear to get 4-5 headshots EVERY time they fire their weapon and regardless of my orientation (run fast, zig-zag, even camo-ed, etc. I understand that when multiple people fire at the same target, your dead -- quickly -- but these were single on single matchups and I understand that if my upload speed is limited by ISP to less than 0.5kbs, someone with 3kbs upload will make me seem like I am standing still so I will again be VERY dead.
I ultimately do not mind being bested by someone who is better -- there are always lots of someones who are better -- but if these individuals are using mod-ed devices or super fast upload speeds, is there a way to detect this and allow them to play against others with mod-ed devices only instead of mixing them with the un-mod-ed population (me).
Would make for a more enjoyable matchup and would allow me to believe I was on a level playing field.
If you get to see one of your teammates on the screen running fast and then see the opponents teammate OVERTAKING him on a super fast run, it makes you think something is amiss if they are both running at full speed and there is a max speed when the controller tab is pushed to its max limit.
You can always tell when you are about to get stomped because your entire team is dead within the first few seconds of the game and the score is 8 to 0. Then after the game resets and one of the opposing team's members quits, your team miracously works its way back in score to even sometimes beating the other team. This is a little too coincidental.
Next incident is the sniper headshot. Either someone out there is a VERY good at headshots or there is another mod at work. I have only played in 2-3 games where the opposing sniper was headshot perfect on EVERY shot regardless of distance, orientation, or map (yes, I stayed with this guy from one game to the next -- dummy me) -- this was repeated between maps. Again a little too coincidental.
Especially in teams you win some -- you lose some -- but its more enjoyable when the "coincidences" do not repeat themselves too often. In the meantime, I simply place the players which are this good on my ignore list as "too good" and move on. Regardless if its their prowess or mod-yness, I get to play against gamers of "roughly" the same or SLIGHTLY better skill level as was intended in the "TrueSkill" method.
