We've had moments of fun in this game but there has been times where things just irritated us and we wanted better.

Here's what I dislike:

-instant checkpoint reversion by death

When you die, the camera should zoom out and follow your body. But there comes a time when you instantly revert. You don't get to enjoy that explosive death you just suffered. This also comes as a surprise so when I'm doing something and I'm about to manually revert, it comes out of nowhere.

-heavy landing stun and damage

I like doing tricks like falling from 2 ledges to the overshield or doing the bridge jump but when I slide off the supply case (and I'm right next to the ground might I add) and still die, that's just a pain in the ass. Sliding should at least cause some friction. H2 corner sliding would have been a great addition to CE.

-AI being removed

This was very minor in CE but it's unfortunately there nonetheless.

-instant splatter

As much as I like splattering multiple Hunters and Goldies with a Ghost or hog, I don't like being a victim of my own vehicle rampages (that includes the Banshee). With vehicles like these, I shouldn't have to play cautiously.

-unusable Wraith

There's nothing more disappointing than flipping a Wraith but not being able to drive it.

-random geometry

As much as I like shaping rocks on AotCR for my diabolical plans, I'd much rather see a pattern that I could get acquainted with.

-it's easy to run off a ledge or platform

The later Halos had walking.

I could go on for a while, but I'll just post this instead-

1)Heavy fall damage.

Annoying how you can jump off the structure on the level "Halo" that you holdout on just to die by fall damage.

2)Banshee tricks

Too easy to get your banshee wrecked by covenant without this.

3)The amount of stickies spec-op elites throw.

I understand that it's "their thing" but it gets annoying.

Halo 2 > Halo 3 > Halo 3 ODST > Halo Reach > Halo CE

Based on campaigns.

TBH, a lot of things

Unmerciful checkpoints, they're far too distanced

The dullness of the campaign. I play shooting games to shoot and kill things, not navigate through a god damn maze.

Assault on the Control Room. Nuff said.

your first point:
Deal with it.

your second point:
I would rather die in a failed attempt to skip part of a level than having the massively unfair advantage of Halo 2 super jumps and general laggieness.

your third point:
I do not know what you are talking about. If you are going to complain about somthing, atlest make it clear what you are complaining about.

your fourth point:
You wouldn't willingly jump out of a fast moving vehicle in real life would you?

your fifth point
That is due to a lack of an animation for the Cheif entering the wraith. However, this also makes the game balanced and more difficult. If you can't handle that then go play Halo 2.

your sixth point:
I have no respect for someone who uses are glitch to skip a large portion of the level and cause enemies to not spawn. Deal with it.

your seventh point:
Halo 1 did have walking on the xbox version of the game. The PC version only has one movement speed because it was intended for someone with a mouse and keyboard to be playing. Deal with it.

1. Not long enough. A longer campaign would have been awesome.

2. No true online multiplayer.

You do realize that I cherish Halo 1 as much as Halo 2 right?

2. You do realize that I'm not a speedrunner. I have my reasons for doing the bridge jump and 2 ledges skip. To be specific, the ledge skip allows me to assassinate Elites that I normally would have to have a firefight with.

3. Haven't you heard of megabattles? It's one of the reasons why I do the bridge skip.

4. That depends.

5. Yet he's able to use it by changing the seat to a Ghost or hog via modding. Wouldn't make a difference if it was usable. The player controlled Wraith mortars aren't very powerful and the Wraith sucks at going up slopes. Here's a demonstration. Actually, I prefer the Halo 3 Wraith.

6. The random geometry inhibits megabattle convenience. It also makes it inconvenient to use this method to get the early Banshee.

7. I see.

Now I'll have you know that I have played the campaign thoroughly and legitimately, no skipping at all. I actually prefer fighting my way through levels rather than skipping (the only levels that I like to skip are: The Library, Guilty Spark, Halo, Keyes).

Here's some examples of me playing the campaign without skipping:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L5Tr99_hKCQ
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_EqN3CCgcxE - Bringing a Goldie on Two Betrayals Legendary to ground floor with hardly any skipping

With the exception of these 2, which were developed for SLASO (although the 2nd video only has skipping after clearing the bridge and room with the Stealth Elites):

Right now, a joke involving the term "gold digger" would either be extremely appropriate, or would be a pun so lame that the forum would implode upon itself.

2. No true online multiplayer.
I hate when people discount Halo PC when talking about online multiplayer. As if the only real way for a game to have online multiplayer is through Xbox Live. Then again that's exactly what Microsoft tried so hard to convince everyone, wasn't it?

OT: I made a thread a while back detailing a mod I was creating on the PC version of Halo to eliminate about everything I disliked about Halo: Combat Evolved's Multiplayer. The only thing I don't have on there is that I wish there were faster movement speeds/more trick jumping like physics for the game to add an extra competitive feel.

In terms of Campaign I can hardly think of any improvements except for vehicle boarding. Only other thing was fixed by Anniversary. (The Library being impossible to navigate even after the 15th time playing it...)

For the Xbox version, the main thing I hate is obvious to anybody who has played PC FPS games: Aim Assist, Aim Assist, Aim Assist.

@omega: No game is perfect. There are flaws within every single one of them. I have to admit that I suspect him of making this thread due to the amount of hate from the Combat Evolved community towards Halo 2, but this isn't really about comparing it to Halo 2. If you can't admit the game has its flaws then you're just as bad as you think they are.

Actually, I'm just noting some things that I've run into during gameplay. I don't harbor any ill will towards the CE community for their opinions concerning H2.

Yesterday, I kept failing the slide jump on SC (which I used to do with ease) which frustrated the heck out of me. Maybe it was from the Goldie assassinations that I was doing previously... they aren't as easy as I make them sound.

Pfft, I'm mainly known as being a part of the CE community and I even resent that part of it. xD

I've tried doing the sorts of things you do in Campaign and I have to say I don't have nearly the amount of patience that's required for that stuff. I do love seeing the outcome, though.

Really?

Same here; I can tolerate CE since there's plenty of cps in most cases but I can easily lose my patience. AI collections come to mind. The outcome is probably the best driving motive.

This is what I was trying to do yesterday. One of my most entertaining tests yet! :3 After assassinating the Goldie, I used his body as cover (crouched behind it) while I shot at Covies down below. Then I would run down and do the slide jump, but I ended up dying 90% of the time. Finally, I work my way back up since I've already activated the cartographer.

It would definitely be innovative if Halo 4 featured the ability to setup corpses so they take most of the hits. Of course, it would be enemy only. And there wouldn't be gore unless they were Flood bodies.

Not much, but the fall damage and the delayed jumping was quite annoying just as it was in the original Halo 1. But what annoyed me the most was the change from the Halo: Reach assault rifle model to the Halo 1 assault rifle model. It made me quite sad when I found out that it was just a place holder. :-(

I really liked the Reach assault rifle aesthetically :(

I'll agree with that, though MA5B > MA5C as well, so I'm not sure your argument is quite so strong and conclusive.

Fall Damage. (to much)

Aesthetics: After playing anniversary it hit me how dry and lifeless the original was. Thats just how i see it.

Yea the health system was tedious. Not that i dont like health, i thought reach did it well, having at least SOME damage repair itself, and not needing a health pack after taking one PP shot unshielded.

Repetitive environments.

Other than that it was a great game and one of the best halo's.

The campaign should have been as long as the dead space 2 campaign xD Boy was that long...(That's what she said!)

Is this game too hard? Do you have the attention span of a fly?

You may wish to try Call of Duty.

CE had it's problems, but it is something I can look past very easily. What I can't look past is the same problems repeating in sequels.

For a 10 year old game, Halo kicked ass. CEA plays like a modern game. What it lacks is a solid handful of set pieces and still plays like a true old school FPS.
