Subject: Intuitive File Sharing and Theater Design

Halo 3 marked the beginning of easily accessed file sharing system for Bungie's games. In Halo 3 there was an in game, as well as an online file share. In the game you could select a person's name and select their file share. You were provided with a display of all the players shared files and thumbnail preview images of those files. This gave the viewer a quick, simple, and appealing view of what that content creator had to offer.

As a screenshot taker, and someone who loved to share and view files on Halo 3. The thumbnail feature was one of my favorite feature, and the one that I felt was most intuitive and helpful for many players.

When Halo:Reach was released I was disappointed to see that the thumbnail feature had been removed, and the entire file share system was lacking the flare that it used to have. For me this was a major discouraging factor in sharing files. It became much more difficult to see great content other players had to offer.

Now, while the thumbnail issue is not the only one I have with the Halo:Reach file share system,I am not here to complain. I have accepted it for what it is and am ready to move on and look to the future.

At this point in time we still have received no information on Bungie's next game. However knowing Bungie they will without a doubt be implementing a file sharing system of some sort.

So that leads me to my question:
What are some of the improvements that you guys would like to see in Bungie's next file share system to make it more intuitive, user friendly, and inspirational to creativity?
Also what would be some great additions to the theater capability that you would like to see added?

Devils Advocate

Returning the Halo 3 UI would be great, IMO it was easier to look at files. I recall looking through peoples fileshares in the pregame lobby frequently in Halo 3. Reach saw, at least for me, a drop in the frequency of said act.

I'm going to have to go onto Halo 3 to reaquaint before I can offer any "improvements".

I would love to see some sort of bookmark system in theater, so you could come back later and have an easy reference point to show you were you want to go. This would also be great for people who record clips for montages and what not.
