Subject: Re-releasing old Music CDs? Possible...?

In a time long past, the armies of the dark came again to the lands of men. Their leaders became known as the fallen lords, and their terrible sorcery was without equal in the west.
In 30 years they reduced the civilized nations into carrion and ash. Until the free city of Madrigal alone defined them. An army gathered there, and a desperate battle was joined against the fallen
Heros were born in the fire and bloodshed of the wars which followed and their names and deeds will never be forgotten

From the Marty Army (IDK if this is "okay" or not to post):
Q: Since "Siege of Madrigal" was originally from the Myth IP, which is now Take 2's property, how did you manage to get it in to the Halo games without anyone calling up a lawyer?

A: All Myth music stayed the property of O'Donnell/Salvatori.

I was kind of interested to find this out. That even though Take 2 has the rights to series like Myth, etc that Bungie music is still owned by Bungie even though the IP belongs to other companies.

With that in mind, what is the thought about re-releasing the soundtracks of older games? Like the Myth total soundtrack for example Link It used to be sold here for $9.98 in 2001, according to way back machine. Link

Obviously it is not sold on Bungie store anymore but have there been thoughts about ever re-releasing some of the older soundtracks again?

And to the forum, would you want to see some of Bungie's older soundtracks come back again?

Case and point: don't worry about it. Girls start getting boobies pretty soon, and then you'll have plenty of other things to think about. Being an Inheritor is not a life goal.

I'd certainly like to see some of their earlier CD's.

I'd love to buy the Marathon soundtrack.

Of course I would like to see them come back. All of Bungie's music has always been phenomenal.

Well, Bungie owns the IP still, they just gave out the source code. It sounds like (IDK for sure) that Bungie still owns almost all their music.

I would <3 to see some of their series soundtracks released again. The Myth Soundtracks are nearly IMPOSSIBLE to find or are over $100.00+ for just the Fallen Lords one.

It would be awesome if Bungie kind of re-made some soundtrack CDs and put them in the store again.

Yes, I AM just that awesome.

I love the music from Marathon and Myth. I'd definitely buy the soundtracks if Bungie re-released them.

Some of the music from Myth is beautiful, and you can actually hear a tiny bit of where Halo music got some inspiration from.

I really wish Bungie would keep selling soundtracks for their older titles. I would <3 to get the Myth soundtrack and the Marathon soundtrack but that was years ago. :/

I'd like to see a CD of all the games with an accompanying book with notation. That would make me extremely happy, I'd be glued to that book for days.

No, that's not how it works. It's not the property of Bungie, it's the property of O'Donnell/Salvatori. They own it, but it was used by Bungie with their permission.

EDIT: Reworded.

You know, Marty must have a personal collection of his own music on CD or his computer. Maybe if he's feeling particularly generous this season he could, oh you know, possibly burn his music on another CD, sign it, and ship it to SK. You know, since Bungie has all of our info anyways.

*looks over shoulder at Marty*

*wink wink*

No, that's not how it works. It's not the property of Bungie, it's the property of O'Donnell/Salvatori, not Bungie. Just because it's theirs doesn't mean it's Bungie's. It was used by Bungie with the permission of Marty.

This.

And no, i don't want them to re-release any old soundtracks.

I acknowledge my user name is stupid. However, I promise I'm not.

Disclaimer: The latter is a lie.

As much as I like Bungie's soundtracks, I couldn't care less.

Why buy it when you have all the sound files with the game? Learn to copy and paste.

Why own a hard copy vinyl record when you can have a digital version?

Because it is more authentic.

Tried the Marty Army?

It's not super active, but you'll probably get some more supporters (and catch the eye of Mr. Marty).

I would love to see the old Myth, Oni, and Marathon soundtracks be re-released. I don't have them, so I would definitely buy them.

Marty keeps all of the licences to all of his music. So since Bungie never owns it, so Marty never loses it. Hence why the Halo CEA music isn't the same as the original.

I think it'd be cool if Marty put all of his older stuff up on iTunes. Would be more efficient (and hip, yo) that producing a bunch of physical CDs.

Sounds good to me. I can never have enough of Marty's (and Mr. Salvatori's) music on my ipod. I would buy the Myth soundtrack for sure.

I would like that too but I always like having a physical copy. IDK there is something cool about it.

You're talking about music from a video game that never existed in any physical form except the games retail disc.
