Subject: Bungie.net Archive System

So I got bord as hell today, and started going all the way to the beginning threads... You know, the threads located 2914 pages away. I never got to the beginning, but I had this idea to organize old posts into an archive system.

What if Bungie.net had an archive with every post ever made bottled up into different files/folders? Without effecting recent posts?

For example:
A post made on September 8, 2007, would be put into a folder marked 'September' inside another marked '2007'. They wouldn't be divided into the separate days, but instead into just months and years. So under '2007' would be each month. You click on a month, and it brings up all posts made that month.

Of course, anything recently posted will still show up at the top.

Thoughts?

I don't think anyone would really use it.

Neither do I. I was just thinking of a way to organize posts :/

I am not quite sure whether you mean this would replace the actual forum posts, or be there along side them. If it replaces them it seems that it would over-complicate things.

At least we have another thing to try to force the web team into doing on a rainy day.

Not replace them. Just organize them. Look and see how many pages are in this month... Goes all the way back like 20 pages, doesn't it? If there was an archive system, it would only be those 20 pages showing up, and not 2900. I'm not sure where exactly they would put it (maybe in with the other links when you click the 'Community' button?), but

was another reason I thought about it.

Having it along side would be much better. Maybe even limit it to important posts somehow.

Probably wouldn't be too hard to do and would be nice for users curious about the old days of Bungie.net. I'd so go for it.

I'd dig this. Mostly because I oftentimes go through those random threads at the back. I guess after the update some of the threads' order got mixed up, though.

They have that for the news archive. I think the reason it isn't implemented into the main forums is because nobody really cares (no offense OP). about 99.9% of threads made aren't that influential so there really isn't a need to archive them. It would wasted space.

Sounds good.

In all honesty, I don't take offense to anything anymore. But imagine you made a thread last week, and you couldn't remember what day you made it (of course, the 'Save Thread' button and your recent history will help you to find it, but just roll with it). Like I said earlier (about how many pages would show up), only the pages from this month will show. That way you don't accidentally skip it and end up 100 pages into June. It's really just a way to organize old threads. It's not necessarily that your archiving the value if the thread, but rather placing it somewhere that's both convient and out of te way.
