Subject: Many, many years ago...

In a time long past, the armies of the dark came again to the lands of men. Their leaders became known as the fallen lords, and their terrible sorcery was without equal in the west.
In 30 years they reduced the civilized nations into carrion and ash. Until the free city of Madrigal alone defined them. An army gathered there, and a desperate battle was joined against the fallen
Heros were born in the fire and bloodshed of the wars which followed and their names and deeds will never be forgotten

*yes, spartain ken made "another thread" today

In looking back at Bungie.net in it's youth I uncovered something I have been wanting to learn about for some time, what Bungie points are. (This is not like the thread I made about Bungie currency).
Link

In a time before time, there were Bungie points. apparently everything you bought fromm Bungie store or buying any Bungie games got you these "Points". These Points then can be re-deemed for cool swag. Link of Bungie points on Myth.

I think I have like 20 points now but LOL I can't do anything with them. :P I think they expired from 10 years ago.

Question for everyone:
Should Bungie bring this point system back to Bungie store for Destiny? And if yes, what do you guys think Bungie should make as redeemable things for points?

I suppose there is a reason why they aren't apart of the site anymore. Maybe people were taking advantage of the system that awarded points. Who knows?

Anyone have some insight on this?

The distance between insanity and genius is measured only by success.

The problem with the world is that the intelligent people are full of doubts, while the stupid ones are full of confidence.

It's just a campaign that they chose to stop. I'm sure it was a decision made with the customer in mind.

If there's a question to ask, it should be: What can I do with the points I already have?

  • 12.17.2011 4:26 PM PDT

I love you.

And I think that would be very neat.

Whenever there are points available to redeem for free products, people will always try to find work arounds to acquire the points, which could cause some undesired user actions.

I appreciate the feedback bu why do you say "no"? Why are you against this? Do you not agree with the previous system?

Ten years ago, you wouldn't exist on this website.

As goes for your question, my young apprentice, no. If you were made a lot of purchase, with a lot of points, you would have enough points to make bungie give you a free xbox 360 console. That wouldn't be fair if that was possible. Bungie has their own "Money management" system laid out, and I'm fair certain that they are extremely strict about that kind of stuff in the development phase.

Achronos: And what's this about a "design team" I've been hearing? Apparently stosh is so awesome he's now considered a "team".

As cool as it may be if they did bring it back the community is too large now and they would probably lose money unless they made the required amount of points for a prize pretty large.

Key

Due to the fact that there are infinite Bungie Points in the world there is also infinite inflation on the value of said Points. Therefore everything in the Store would cost a minimum of Ininity Bungie Points.

I am not in favor of the above system.

Maybe you could even earn "Moderator for a Day", wouldn't that be swell?

Really though, I don't like the idea of point systems earned through purchasable items, especially if they're redeemable for tangible items. Using fake currency to buy real things? Nah.

Wow, that is actually not a bad idea. The privileges/rewards you offered seem a little to risky, but if they came up with some that could work, it may be actually something to consider. People would have more incentive to buy the Bungie products. I mean if people are willing to pay for an account with a high rank in a game, people will also pay for cool privileges on the site.

No, they were points that came on a box like like box top points where if you get enough you mail them in. But also it sounds like you got them via Bungie store by saving them on the account you bought something from Bungie store on.

Honestly I was just being sarcastic, but I do approve such things over tangible items.

I know that they are, I don't approve of box top offers or similar things either. But that's just my personal preference.

He was obviously just joking. But this could also be a good way to start a new feature/system. Incentives for preforming well on the site, doing so, as well as buying Bungie products would get you points which you the could redeem for cool and harmless privileges on the site.

I understand nothing because my life is a conspiracy.

If they did, it would probably work like Ubisoft's Uplay. When you get certain achievements or something else, you would get points. With the points, you could them to get additional content for future Bungie games for free.
