I'm waiting for you to have actual game knowledge.

The post you made that I later used was a brainfart from start to finish.
The "adapt" argument was, and still is the most idiotic "argument" one can use.

"Huuuuur, don't like it? ADAPT".

Go drink the lemonade under the sink.

MarkFanous and blacknight, the only people you play against are bad and/or retarded. As such, you can't make a judgement on pretty much any of the problems that Reach has because you're both so bad to play against anyone good enough to abuse them.

If you had played at high level Arena, you would understand how certain maps are unbalanced, or how the jetpack ruins maps and is abused. If you were good you would understand how armor lock slows the game down and is nothing more than a crutch that stops bad players from dying when they get outplayed.

However, you don't see these issues because at the level of skill which you play at, there are no strategies or areas to hold down. Everyone just runs around the map like an imbecile looking for the next person they run into so that they can try to AR melee them again.

hey hey i do not suck at halo reach (i consider myself decent and can play good when i actually try) and i definitely dont use the AR melee combo, just look at my commendation for automatic weapons its near the very bottom. You said if we play at high level arena, well hey not everyone on halo plays at high level arena thats only about 10% of the people that actually play arena not even the whole halo reach population. And i have played against good people and had my butt handed to me and i have also had games where i abused the other team

This is me and 3 friends playing a super tryhard game in Team Objective.

Until you play something as sweat inducing as that, you can not say anything about how any game mechanic affects gameplay.

And no, getting roflstomped by people like that does not count as a "sweaty tryhard game."

I hate to break it to you but your k/d is pretty poor, you're not very good. It's nothing to be ashamed about, though. It's only a video game, it's not like it matters.

The problem is that when designed for casuals, the game plays well for casuals but not competitive players. When designed for competitive players, the game plays well for everyone.

Why? Competitive players like to play in balanced and fair settings. If you put competitive players in casual settings, they will take advantage of broken or poorly designed game mechanics and the game becomes less fun for the competitive players. If you put bad, casual players in these settings, there aren't any problems because they won't take advantage of any issues.

If you put these two sets of players in a competitive environment, the overall result is better. The casual players still won't take advantage of any balance issues so there's no problem for them, and the competitive players have no balance issues to abuse, so there's no problem for them either.

Bad players don't see glaring problems because no one ever uses it against them. You don't see the problem with Jetpacks in Arena because you've never played Arena and had a team of jetpackers sit in the soft kill zones shooting down on you and taking advantage of a flaw in the map. I have, and it sucks. Why do you think I always use Jetpack on 90% of the maps in Arena?

Give primary school kids or NBA pros a 10ft hoop and everyone will have a fun game. Give them a 7ft hoop and the primary school kids will have fun, but the NBA pros won't because it's too easy for them to put the ball in the hoop without trying and the game is no longer competitive.

And then the host changed and I got a killing frenzy and cleared up their base for the bomb arm.

If I played on a good connection every game I would be a behemoth of death and destruction.

Anyways so then according to your what you told me, how would you re-design this game for competitive people?

im not following, so you had a super close game in team objective? believe me ive had plenty of close games, tell me whats so special about this one because the stats wont tell me much

  • 12.22.2011 7:12 PM PDT

Armor Lock = Would be fine with out the EMP blast and the ability to instantly destroy vehicles. In BTB, I'm constantly seeing teammates in vehicles get blown up because the enemy went into AL just before being hit. There's no "counter strategy" to that, that's why I hate it. You can't stop that suddenly, so you're just -blam!-. In most other circumstances, it's usually just a douche-move and not a big deal.

Bloom = It's a -blam!-, but it doesn't ruin my games, it just frustrates me. In the TU playlist, when I shoot at a person's head when they're shields are down: they die. In playlists with full bloom: even when I'm trying to pace my shots, it takes like 2-3 shots after they're shields are down to kill them with a headshot. It's stupid.

The biggest problem and the thing that usually ruins my games is the lack of party limit with certain playlists. I'm tired of coming into contact with 5+-player teams of people with major superiority complexes in BTB when searching alone or with 1-2 good friends. Please excuse me for not wanting to take the time to put together a team and plans to dominate, and ruin the game for, randoms. A party limit of four in BTB games would solve that.

Halo Reach isn't a bad game. It's just not a good Halo.

The I in crite is not pronounce as eye.

So, on the one hand I spell it out exactly as it should be.

lol? You can't be serious.

On the other side is the one of the best objective players in the world and his super tryhard nerd friends. Until you play competition like that, you won't understand any of the gripes that a lot of competitive players have with Reach.

Nope. SouthPole isn't a person. He's the avatar of the force of tryhards everywhere. He stalks the web looking for retards to set straight. He can not be stopped by mere bans or thread locks for he shall rise anew.

The least you can do is actually understand why the game is broken. It's not much to ask.

If you don't know by now, you're incredibly ignorant. There have been hundreds, maybe thousands of threads detailing why Reach is a bad game.

no i know the reasons, like armor lock and bloom what i want to know is why people hate those things/why it makes the game bad for them. Yes i have seen most of those threads but people just say that it sucks they dont provide reasons why or real life examples

Why is Reach a bad game? I'll admit what most of these guys won't. Little scrubs are beneath me. And when they have something like bloom, or a cheap gimmick like AAs to get a kill on me, I'm not having any fun. There is no ranking system, so I'm stuck getting matched with idiots I shouldn't even be playing against, complete waste of my time.

I like Halo reach :) only the people who dislike it ever post stuff, and say its a bad game. <---- just my stupid little theory BTW
