Subject: Question about Reach's Level THE PACKAGE's ending

I remember in the ending of the Halo: Reach level "The Package" the cut scene has Halsey explaining that what Noble Team was looking at was "knowledge...a birth right from an ancient civilization. This AI is its custodian. And she has chosen you as her couriers." And then she says later "unless we can gleam from this knowledge a game changer. On the level of the chronicle bullet in the 19th century or faster than light travel in the 23rd." So could someone tell me exactly what the knowledge was, because they never really explained that part!

It isn't really explained, but it is implied that it has something to do with leading the Pillar of Autumn to Installation 04, possibly co-ordinates.

I thought that too, but then that would mean Cortana lied to Jacob Keyes when she told him that they made a blind jump.

She DID lie to Captain Keyes. It isn't the coordinates to Halo because Cortana got those from that crystal.

That's true. It is possible that Cortana got info on Halo. This could be why she knew so much when Chief put her in Halo's control room.

She knew so much because she absorbed all the data that was in the control room.

Yeah, but she was able to figure it out quickly. The "knowledge" could have helped her. She is really smart, though, so who knows.

By the power of truth, I, while living, have conquered the universe.

We're never told and likely never will be.

No, she just absorbed the information present in the control room.

Signatures are for squares.

It is implied that it's the coordinates to Alpha Halo, but that then makes the importance of the Sigma Octanus crystal completely null.

Or it's simply part of the coordinates. Or it's something that allowed cortana to see the coordinates on the crystal.

Or it's just something that lets her access forerunner tech easier.

its probably what caused her to think of the sigmus octanus crystal as being a star chart. she didnt know what it was until they made the jump

Oly Oly Oxen Free

But even when she first saw the data she knew it looked familiar.

No, i think it was data on the installations, possibly only decrypted after accessing installation 04/00.

So possibly room for 343 to;

make her lifespan longer

give her some of the capabilities of a Contender class AI

give her knowledge of shield worlds/other yet unknown forerunner strongholds.

Not to be that person, but in FoR it states just that.

And she didn't lie. She followed cole protocol which means when you jump, you can't jump in the direction of a human colony.

She simply put in that location instead of an entirely random one.

A blind jump would be jumping to a random location; it wasn't random. She chose the coordinates. She didn't jump towards a human colony, but it wasn't a blind jump.

See what I'm trying to say here?

-blam!- Was that actually blammed out? Or did I just type it? You'll never know.

The knowledge of how to badger out meaningless plot devices. That's why the information was kept away from the player, or else they would know.

But at the same time, it was a blind jump as she had no idea what was at the location.
