Subject: Metropolis - Box Launch to Scarab Gun, Corner Ride Back to the Street

Hello friends! Another trick video here. This time, I launch off of the box and land up on the bridge, grab the scarab gun and use a rocket to blast myself into a corner and proceed to ride down all the way to the street. I had looked for a way to get down from the bridge on foot and found this rocket corner ride to be possible, so it made sense to practice and then combine it with the box launch up there. Hope you guys get a kick out of it!

0x0 x0x 0x0 000 000 x0x 000
x0x 0x0 0x0 0xx 000 0x0 000

I have seen you future

That is incredibly cool.

You got that right pal.

As far as corner riding, nobody has ever blasted themselves to an unreachable corner like Bizz, I just want people to understand that. He won't promote himself but I will.

Plus, like I said in another post, out of all the trickers, nobody has been able to get up to the gun in single player and then get back down until now.

He's got more stuff in the works so subscribing is a good idea.

@ Bizz - There's still the unfinished business of a self-launch up to the gun. That's a tough one, you might want to use dantheman87's box method for gathering nades and do it before the Wraith fight.

@Grumpy - Yeah, I think your right on that one. I'm grinding pretty hard right now with the way I'm attempting it. Do you know of a good vid that shows how to get nades to stick to a box?

This is my personal favorite vid, done by the great dantheman87. Pure genius

Nice Job!

I remember seeing that method of getting up, even made the jump myself once, waaaaaaaaaaaay back.

My question is for corner riding, do you have to have that certain disk type or find certain corners, or can anyone do that kind of thing anywhere if they have the skills? I have tried it before and I have always died. I am not sure if I just suck at it (practice more maybe?) or if it works in only certain situations and with that version what point what disk?(Grumpy will inform us here)

Also, Grumps, how do I find out what disk version I have? I looked on the actual disk and did not see any version notations, got any hints on where to look?

You'll have to wait for Bizz for answers to how since he's the best on this or any other planet, but corner riding has nothing to do with what version, updates or whatever as far as I know. He has a tut on corner riding, I'm sick today but I'll look for it later.

From my understanding, Corner riding is an exploit in the engine. It's where you stick yourself where two polygons meet and can cancel the death barrier when falling from a great height.

(also note that that information was from something scurty said in H2DS, Metropolis I believe)

Sup, I'm Vette. My online name is usually Corvette19, so if you see me at another website, that's my name. I first started playing Halo when I was in the 4th grade, now I've graduated. I believe that was 2002-2003? Anyways, I've been with Halo for a long time. I mod Halo PC/CE so just hit me up if you want to. My Xfire=Corvette19. That's all I can say pretty much..

How in the heck is this even possible haha. That's too awesome. 7 years after and people are still doing crazy things. I applaud you, sir.

Here's a corner riding tut from the master:

For swordflying (your PM), I'll do a simple tut but here's one in Great Journey that anyone can do:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1qS0LstrfiI

Pick up the sword
Take a Spectre to the last beach
Hijack a Banshee and don't kill the Brute
Park next to the Brute
Get in side seat
Swipe once (RT) with the sword (if the reticle is red) and hold
Turn and enter driver's seat
Drive away (let go of RT)
Fly like a bird

Hanger one I just shredded with the SMGs until ammo was out and I just threw 'nades like a boss while BRing.

My experience playing Cairo Station on Legendary

Very cool! I've never been able to get the Banshee to survive the checkpoint in the underground tunnel. Videos like these always cause me to pick up the old friend time and time again.

Thanks everybody! Wow great responses here.

wonmyfts - First thing I'd like to make clear, this is the XBOX version of H2. I have no idea about the PC version. Updates don't matter, mine has the 1.1 map updates and sword fly removal. Every one of my videos is directly recorded from an original Xbox console, but the same stuff would work on a 360 I'm sure.

The easiest corners to ride are ones with a 90 degree shape. A perfect "L" shape. You can ride both sides of it, but I found usually one side will be easier to ride than the other. However, you can still ride both. You want to avoid being right on the "point", pick one side or the other. You can move to the left and right during the fall, hold forward and press against the corner, or is some cases you can fall and survive without moving or doing anything once you are in the right spot. Also, at least for riding in Metropolis, you have to be able to get the banshee to the last zone at least once. I have about 10 profiles with banshees there, because I wanted checkpoints in perfect spots to practice really hard rides.

The video I made explains it and shows examples, thanks to Grumpy for posting it but here it is again:

I think you should either edit the OP or make a new thread here for your all things corner riding vids and tuts. May as well let a few others enjoy the wonders of H2 corner riding.

  • 12.29.2011 5:47 PM PDT

For sure gramps! Not a problem. I've seen what people can do with bouncing, so I know there's players out there that can get crazy with corner riding as well. I'll round up my best stuff and start a new thread.
