Subject: Halo 2: Flood Snipers

I remember, when playing Halo Combat Evolved, the first time we (my brother and I) fought against the flood. Back then it was more chilling then fun at times. Then, when we played the level Keyes, we found a sniper rifle near a ledge that dropped down into an open room mostly filled with coolant from the cruiser above. There were two hunters in that room. Sound familiar?

Anyway, we see the sniper rifle and pick it up. We look out from the ledge and see -- you guessed it -- flood. We have a sniper rifle, and we have flood. Why not try and shot them with a sniper rifle, right? We fire, it slightly flinches; fire, flinch; fire, flinch: eventually we gave up.

Later on I got a sick idea in my head. What if a flood infection form was armed with a sniper rifle?

Its a terrifying thought: what if a flood infection form was armed with a sniper rifle.

Game: Halo 2
Level: Quarantine Zone
Difficulty: Legendary
Date: [classified]

I'm driving along in my scorpion tank. I just finished wiping-out all armor and infantry in the middle of this open canyon. The gondola that will take me directly to the index is just through a set of doors that are sheltered by a structure protruding out of the canyon face. It had two exterior entrances more than big enough for a tank to enter. Past the exterior entrances, on the inside of the structure, there are a set of shutter against the inner wall that open up and release flood, including rocket infantry (flood with rockets). Using the tank to pass through these entrances was a big no-no because of the rocket infantry. So I went in on foot and found a high-ground ledge on the inside of the exterior wall of the structure. I climbed up there. The width of this ledge was probably equivalent to the width of a scorpion tank.

This is where the nightmare starts. I run along the middle of this ledge and approximately 5 flood jump me. No big deal, right, until I saw what was in one of the flood's hands. "Is that a" and before I could say beam rifle, the arbiter simply falls to the ground while a visible beam of light is still present (the other flood didn't even fire: 'twas a beam rifle head shot). THE FLOOD HAVE SNIPER RIFLES.

An ideal nightmare became a reality.

But the whole reason why I put this post up was because I wanted to see how many other people have had this kind of experience: encountering flood with sniper rifles.

your paragraphs are too detailed
how about: the first time i used the sniper against the flood, i noticed it received minimum damage after all those shots i fired

how's it terrifying? a combat form wielding a sniper sounds normal to me, maybe if it was dual wielding it with another sniper or rocket launcher then yes, that would be terrifying and sick

like i said before, too much detail. you got killed by a combat form wielding a beam rifle, don't see why you're getting excited

Sorry about that. Sometimes to get the full feeling out of a moment, I end up writing a short story full of descriptors. My true expression wasn't as strong as I wrote it, but I thought that it would be easier to sense the mood.

Oh and this is also the first topic I have ever created on a forum, so forgive me for my noobishness, although noobishness is not a word.

Actually, the real nightmare (annoyance perhaps being a better word) was the difficult of the situation itself, not solely the sniper. In a nutshell, I drive the tank the rockets kills me, I go on foot the sniper kills me. I can't remember why I couldn't kill that sniper.

Don't worry. We're all noobs to an extent (I'm specifically talking about that invasion kid. Sucks at every thing. Seriously, he can't do anything right).

You're welcome to make more. I didn't see any hint of noobiness (which isn't a word) in your post. We need more strategists like you around.

Because we are strategists united! We're tired of noobs using cheap tactics. We're tired of the noob combo. The genius strategist shall no longer suffer from the infectious disease of noobiness (which isn't a word)!

*takes out SMGs*

Who's with me?!

*dual wields SMGs*

Now let's go out there and kick ass with the fun sandbox of Halo 2!! :D

To Cairo Station!! And the next level. And the next level. And the next level. And the next level. And the next level. And the next level. And the next level. And the next level. And the next level...

No really, I gotta try dual wielding SMGs for SLASO. CS must fall!!

From the perspective of a short story constructed in no more that 15 minutes, how did it sound?

XD

I just got back from my CS SLASO testing. It was much easier than last time, only taking about 14 minutes (I brought Johnson along as a distraction) because I used the sword + melee combo on Ultra Elites. I died lots of times because I got hit by swords...

Now I'm at the part right before the first hangar. I have a plan for that hangar but I need Johnson to keep them busy.

Edit:

YES!! I did it. I cleared the first hangar. Only took me about 3-4 minutes. And I didn't have to risk it like MasterMonopoli. :D

Send Johnson down there, headshot the Grunts from the Pelican area. If an Elite takes out his sword and charges Johnson, assassinate him pronto. Then it's just a matter of assassination after assassination. When the dual wielding Elite comes, make sure he's alone so kill the Grunts.

Edit 2: Managed it again, and almost managed it 2 times. So a total of 4 successful attempts. The only problem is, I don't get a cp after clearing the first hangar. >:( The 2nd hangar is a scary, scary, scary, scary place.

Edit 3: After hours of frustration and hunger, I have come to the conclusion that the 2nd hangar is impossible on SLASO unless you do it like Monopoli. Johnson is mostly useless here. :(

Well, what about that G Domin8r guy: His posts are too long, he take a sentence and turns it into a paragraph and takes a paragraph and turns it into a 500 word essay, and he theatrical freaks out when he see a flood holding a sniper's weapon: a beam rifle to say the least.

Come on! A beam rifle! What's so scary about a flood combat form holding a beam rifle? It's not like the thing is dual-wielding a scarab gun or something.

He sounds rational compared to that one fellow; this one guy we all recognize as a noob. Someone with the initials SG. But don't tell him I said that. Then again, I don't have to tell him...

...because he already knows

Crap, I decided several days ago to do another Ghost collection on Quarantine Zone, just to have the save on this box I have now. I have about 140 right now but this original box is showing overload already. If the Ghosts stop coming before I hit 180 or so, all will be wasted. I'm trying to move large portions of Ghosts to the 1st map but I don't know if it will relieve the overload or make it worse.

Here's a tut for getting all those Ghosts:

I know what it's like to have to start over again. I nearly made it past the hangar room like 9 times (at least 4 attempts were successful) out of 30+ attempts but I never got a cp for the 2nd hangar room battle.

And if I turn on Assassins, the Johnson distraction method seems to be screwed. If I have learned anything from my SLASO attempts, it's that Ultra Grunts are horrible and Assassins skull is bs. >:(

It looks like the only way to do the 1st hangar is to charge in there with the sword, which is freaking hard because of those Grunts. And that dual wielding Elite is extremely intelligent, taking out his sword right before I even managed to land a melee hit on him.

Fortunately, after a hour of agonizing torment and grovelling, I have found the easiest way to get past the first hangar: get all the Elites to take out swords (or get them interested in meleeing which is a side effect of sticking them with a grenade).
