Subject: Marathon: Durandal Forum?

I just realised something interesting about Bungie's forums. They have their section of game forums which features all of the Halo games before and including Reach, and a forum for Crimson. But what about Marathon: Durandal? It's still an XBLA game and it's still on the XBL Marketplace. So technically, it is on xbox and still being sold. Why not make a forum for Marathon: Durandal and put it in the game forums?

We don't need it. Nothing new is going to be brought up in a game that's over 10 years old.

The Marathon playerbase isn't a large enough demographic on Bungie.net to warrant a forum specifically for Marathon. Discussion of classic Bungie games (aka, pre-Halo) is reserved for the Universe forum.

If you want to find others who share your interest in Marathon, check out For Carnage Apply Within or go to Marathon.Bungie.org.

That's for the Bungie universes, not Bungie games. You can talk about marathon story there, but I don't think the subject can be on game-play.

That's funny. Halo CE is over 10 years old and didn't 343 just release a completely made over version of it?

While this may be true, I don't see any Marathon thread being frowned upon in that forum. Just doing my part.

Halo gameplay discussion is prohibited there.
Halo gameplay threads are prohibited in this forum.
Since there's no place for discussion about any other Bungie games (other than groups), it's the only place for it to go, other than the Flood.

We need some salmon or gold text up in here for clarification.

This is my point. Bungie's forums have nowhere to talk about everything Marathon apart from the flood, and that's full of trolls who want to talk off topic, not about Marathon.

In a time long past, the armies of the dark came again to the lands of men. Their leaders became known as the fallen lords, and their terrible sorcery was without equal in the west.
In 30 years they reduced the civilized nations into carrion and ash. Until the free city of Madrigal alone defined them. An army gathered there, and a desperate battle was joined against the fallen
Heros were born in the fire and bloodshed of the wars which followed and their names and deeds will never be forgotten

I wish Bungie had an "Action Sack" forum to talk about all games pre-Halo. But, most people use the Universe forum.

The problem though is 90% of the people who post in the Universe forum only talk about Halo. Threads about Myth, Oni, and Marathon are quickly ignored.

But Marathon does have a confusing story and I could understand how people would still be talking about it.

The Bungie Universe Forum is for discussion of all elements of the storyline, backstory, plotline, and canon elements of all Bungie games, including Halo, Marathon, Oni, Myth, and others. Additionally, this forum is for discussion about Bungie's potential future projects.

You can also find a description in the Bungie Universe forum itself, here.

I already looked it up, and it's weird that it only specifically prohibits Halo gameplay discussion. The description says that it's about plot/universe discussion, but when it was called The Underground, gameplay was also discussed (albeit sparsely). I wonder if the topic of classic gameplay was simply overlooked when creating the forum descriptions.

So i'd say Bungie Universe Forum. I don't think you can talk about the gameplay. I think from reading the rules, and the quote it's only The storylines and plots things of that sort.

I don't know. Maybe the new description was forged to illustrate that they don't want subjects based solely on game-play, although they are fine with the discussion of game-play relevant to the discussion of the Bungie universes.

Right now, I'm starting to think that a post only from a gold text could clarify this for us. Until then, we can only presume that they don't want us to discuss game-play.

Why do people in ship mutinies always ask for "better treatment"? I'd ask for a pinball machine, because with all that rocking back and forth, you'd get a lot of free games.

Maybe in order to understand mankind, we have to look at the word itself: "Mankind". Basically, it's made up of two separate words - "mank" and "ind". What do these words mean? It's a mystery, and that's why so is mankind.

Myth, Oni, Desert Storm forums are needed to.

Until further notice, we'll have to conclude that game-play is off-topic in the forum.

Here, it's an entire website dedicated to forums of Marathon.

Here is a website which is also the home of the multiplayer aspect of the Aleph One Project.

A tosser is the same as a wanker. To toss oneself off is to fondle the trouser weasel.

Achronos

Joe Staten

Y'all seem to be terribly confused.

The Universe's banner is self-explanatory, it has logos/symbols from the Marathon trilogy, Oni and the Myth series.

The Universe forum is the place to discuss old Bungie games. Marathon, Oni and Myth, just to name a few. You can also talk about the story in the Halo games, but not about gameplay things. (i.e. the BR spread)

Back when the XBLA version of Durandal was released there were many topics discussing its' gameplay, how to beat certain levels and things like those. Those threads were never locked. I don't see why asking today how to beat "If I Had A Rocket Launcher..." on insane/legendary/seriously hard difficulty would break any rule.

The OP talks about Durandal's XBLA version as a Bungie game. Well, Bungie didn't put that game on the 360. It is an edited version by Freeverse of the original game (which was released in late 1994); the new version has HD graphics and Survival Mode, among other things.

That's why there isn't a dedicated forum for the XBLA version of the game. Just like there isn't a forum for Halo Wars or Halo CEA.

Also, free Marathon trilogy.

Play the original Marathon 2: Durandal for PC and Mac. That is a classic.

***MESSAGE FROM CMDRSCOTT1701***

<Topic: Personal Feedback>

I too, have desired a forum for the releases prior to the twenty-first century, as I still have an abundance of comments on the games which made my childhood rich.

However, I must leave certain things behind and realize that the majority of commentators would be of a newer age, unable to relate to my nostalgia.

Bungie is a thing of the future, always. Although each and every one of their titles has significant historical congruences and mystic jests which may very well carry on to other games, it does not warrant a completely separate discussion board. This is why there is a Universe Forum.

<On the subject of the Universe Discussion Board>

The Universe Forum is not a Halo forum. While aspects of Halo are permitted to be discussed, this is not its primary aim.

Most people cannot see past this, as Halo is the best known and most recognized Bungie title. Should older games like Marathon wish to be discussed, this forum is open for such users.
