Well, if they didnt end it sometime, the plot and gameplay would get so played out. Ya gotta know when to quit while your ahead. say they did make a Halo4 and then 5 and so forth, its gotta be hard to constantly have to come up with way to surprise and astonish people. Plus, what happens when one of them completely bombs? Now the once great Halo name has been tarnished and its very hard to bring a game back in this fickle society of gamers.

Better to go out with a bang instead of fading into mediocrity

The stories over the covenant will be defeated in Halo 3. Either that or all all life in the universe will be destroyed.

Wouldn't be surprised to see a game covering reach however.

all i can say is that if it is the final game I woulod rather them take their time, make it very long, make it very awesome, lots of replayablility and tons of kickass multiplayer maps

The series needs closure. As much as it'd be great to kick huge amounts of Covie ass, there needs to be closure. As the team were disappointed with how it turned out last time (making of DVD), here's hoping that they'll work even harder still to make sure that the series ends with a bang.

its hard to make another game about fighing after one that is going to "finish" the fight. 3 is a nice round number anyway

Because Bungie isnt a one trick pony. They could make another game afterwards and it would still own.

what if they came out with a collectors edition, with all three games (revamped for 360), with all multiplayer maps included and revamped?

I'd be interested to see what Bungie could do with a diferent style game...not that i dont like the Halo series but it would be nice to see a bit of diversity.

Think about it, "God" is an atheist.

cuz you can't break TOO much new ground if you keep making sequels.

EDIT - and just like jerry seinfeld, they know when to call it quits.

I would be absolutely fine by that, remaking Halo and Halo 2 in the future. I would buy it.

because it woudl turn into final fantasy's, and no one likes that. but it would be nice for bungie to continue to develp the halo 3 (or sequals) as new gen consoles came out.

  • 05.09.2006 2:07 PM PDT

Only crappy games keep continuing with more games. Halo is good, and it wouldn't be as good if Bungie were to keep making games.

Great things come in 3's. Besides a Halo mmo is being made under the name project orion. So there will be another game if that's what you are worried about.

anyone notice how star wars episodes one, two, and three were the dumbest movies ever...

  • 05.12.2006 10:52 PM PDT

Personally, i'd like it if they went sort of Starwars-esque. Have the Fall of Reach, and First Strike. T'would be friggin' sweet.

Well, in the FAQ, Bungie said that it was the end of this story arc, so there could be other Halo games, but I doubt it. Even so, I do remember them saying that Halo 2 was the last one but maybe they realized they coulden't fit it into one game?..
