Subject: What is a good Kd ?

I've heard some say that 1.00 means you're decent, and some say that 1.00 is great, others say 1 is bad. Help me settle this, peace of mind type thing.

1 k/d.

You get as much kills as you die on average.
Assuming you would get 20 kills, I would assume you to get around that many deaths.

Strictly speaking, the average population k/d is a few hundredths of a point above 1 (after factoring guest players out of the equation). For your own sake, just accept that the average is 1.00 even, and rate your personal score against that. If you are above that by a significant margin, you're a decent player at killing without dying. Note that I did not simply say that having a higher k/d makes you a better player, because that argument is invalid.

  • 12.18.2011 6:16 PM PDT

it depends on the playlist. having a 10k/d if you only play grifball means nothing, and having a 1.0 k/d but only playing MLG at the highest level would make you very good but have a bad k/d.

I would say, if you play a wide range of playlists, and not just a particularly skill-requiring (MLG) or skill-lacking one (action sack, grifball) then anything below a 1.5 isn't very good.

Alternatively. Who cares. It's this massive worrying about kd's that causes quit rage which ruins the game. Also depends who you play with. A 1.8 on reach has nothing on 1.2 in mlg.

You have 2 other players in your party and you're looking for 4.
2 Players are open for selection.
All you can know is the k/d and the gamertag.

Who will you pick?
Player A - 0.5 k/d
Player B - 2.1 k/d

Go.

Well I have a 2.26 K/D so I would go with Player A to even things out K/D wise. Plus people with the low K/D are normally the most fun to play with since they do the random things in btb! xD

0.97 has been roughly calculated as the global average. 1.0 would be average, but you must factor in suicides and betrayals, which is how people arrived at 0.97. From there you have to argue over the subjective word "good." Good for some people means anything over average. For others it means anything past a certain number of standard deviations beyond average.

Having a high KD doesn't mean you're great. Having a high KD and a good win/loss rate is what matters.
