Halo CE > Halo 3 > Halo 2

Fix the Halo 3 BR spread, plz.

They should keep some, but remove almost all of it.

Leave it in, but improve it.

* IN halo 1, Bungie had to modify it so you could actually hit someone without chasing him down for 2 minutes. and they gave it a "range" that if your gun butt doesn't have to touch an enemy to kill it, made it extreamly retarded looking.
* Halo 2 gave it a lunge to get it a feel of power, and to make up for the range, making it a bit eiser, but it was not perfect. They shall perfect it in Halo 3 by giving it a larger hit radius(i'mm thinking).

Does that help?

I say take it out totally. It's absurd to have a process that depends so much on exact timing between two characters over an internet connection. The slightest lag will totally screw up a fight to the point "whoever has the best connection wins."

Melee in Halo 1 was a challenge. In Halo 2 I can double the score of the person in 2nd place WITHOUT FIRING A SHOT.

A way to improve the existing lunge process would be to enable you to turn mid-lunge. As it is, you just drift in the direction you lunged, even if you twist around.

NOTE: I'm not saying you can't spin mid-lunge... You can rotate and put your fist anywhere, you just can't change movement direction.

It is necessary(sp?) because of the online play. You see how hard it is sometimes to get a beatdown/assasination with the lunge, without it would be impossible in some situations. (this is all because of latency)

most idiotic idea ever...

sure it looks good, but it doesnt work. at all.

it misses all the time.

if they want to add, like an assasination animation, where if you come behind someone you grab and then knife them in the neck...

do that, at least it wont make it miss.

thats stupid.. why are you trying to make this like splinter cell? an "animation" would be way too slow for halo's fast action. melee lunges also make it easier to beatdown and as said before. you dont have to run for 2mins to beat someone down.

Halo 1 and 2 had their problems. Halo 1 the melee hit, but its range was small. In halo 2, you had a larger range, but alot of times you still wouldnt hit them, just lunge at them and tell them your there.

Add a bit of auto-aim to the mellie.
And take out about 2/3 of the lunge.

I think that it takes out the skill of silent attacks. If we wanted an easier game, we could go play Halo CE with hacks

Take it out. I hate it how the screen moves around to the movement of the gun. Like in some other game where the screen moves when you reload a weapon. That was uber stupid. I dont care if it looked retarded if you didnt have to be right behind an enemy to kill them. I still liked to kill them.

I don't understand all the complaining. The melee is part of what sets Halo apart from other bs fps's. I never have any problems beating people down and I don't think I've ever flown off a ledge from a miss unless I was weilding the sword. Have you guys tried switching to green thumb or boxer? I think the lunge is sweet!

I say take it out. It's too easy to kill someone with it. In Halo CE it took some measure of skill and timing to successfully melee someone. In Halo 2 I've had too many miss and fly by someone to get myself assassinated or go off a legde. What does everyone else think?

Skill? Timing? Have you forgotten how huge the range was for the AR melee? You could take a swing and thump someone from like 10 yards away. Me and my buddies all called it the milee cause you could smack someone from a mile away.

Yes the old melees did have a long range. No longer than the lunges do now though, certainly. And don't forget the lunge pulls you towards your opponent, even if you are off to one side.

Take it out; it causes far more problems than it solves. Increase the range to compensate.

I played Halo:CE the other day on XBC and was able to hit people just fine (off host). In fact, it was easier than in Halo 2 because the lunge doesn't exist, so you don't fall short, you don't go through people, and you can do jumping melees. It is not necessary in online play for a successful melee attack

The melee in Halo 2 is so frustrating on Xbox Live. I can say that 3 out of 10 times when I melee it goes straight through my opponent.

I love running behind an enemy swinging at him furiously while each shot somehow slides off his back. I've had it happen for almost 30 seconds straight before it connected.
