3x scope on the DMR is too powerful, so they countered it with bloom. The DMR is super OP at any distance, but its also super random during DMR battles (because of bloom combined with even the smallest amounts of lag). The only way to survive is to camp. Go out into the open and you'll get pinged by DMR fire from any direction.
The Banshee is SUPER Overpowered, so they made it extremely vulnerable to DMRs, and made it flip as much as possible to avoid DMR fire. Now we have a glass cannon flying all over the place that can't be destroyed by a team without communication (most matchmaking games)
Sprint is countered by a slow base movement speed (you walk like a turtle). Sprint allows people to run away from their battles.
Jetpack is countered by low jump height (spoiler alert: you can't jump anywhere without sprint). Jetpack totally ruins map-flow and breaks the sandbox (there's no argument here)
Grenades and Rockets are Overpowered, and because we can't move and jump at our base movements, they are almost unavoidable.
There is no counter to armor lock. Simply waiting for them to come out is not an option if their teammates are fighting you.
Active Camo is super unbalanced. You knock out the enemy radar AND you're invisible? That doesn't even make sense.
Loadouts ruin everything that made Halo what it is. Halo used to be about spawning on the same foot and competing for the weapons/powerups on the map, now its simply given to you and everyone can start the game differently. If you beat a guy using an armor ability, he should not spawn again with the ability. Thats like killing a guy with rockets, and he just spawns with rockets again."

ah, a self spoken rational gamer. very well, i will present my arguement: (WALL OF TEXT)

I believe reach was made more casual friendly or "catered to casuals". while this makes sense as a business move on bungies part because they make more money i cant help but feel resentment for them because one could say that they "sold out". i was an avid halo fan since the original halo presented itself in America but reach seems to have lost its edge very quickly. i blame this to the largely unfair dynamics such as power weapon hording, spawn camping, flawed weapon bloom system, and espically the unbalanced "armor abilities". in previous halo games there was a solid skill gap that defined "skilled" players from (for lack of a better word) "unskilled" players like the "true skill system". this was totally removed from reach due to the credit system that can be easily exploited.

TL;DR: i think reach was catered to casuals and as an ex-hardcore halo fan i dont like it.

You are just so mind-blowingly -blam!- retarded. First of all, what you just described is not an argument, it's a behaviour.

Second of all, the fact that you and your fellow retards like Reach DOES NOT MAKE THE GAME GOOD. THIS IS NOT HARD TO UNDERSTAND. HOLY -blam!-.

The fact that I dislike Reach does not inherently make it bad, either. The fact that bloom adds random luck to gunfights, that players cannot move as fast and thus cannot strafe effectively, that the game has severe framerate issues, that jetpack breaks most maps, that the "ranking" system encourages selfish play, that the campaign is dull and destroys existing canon... factors like this make the game bad. Not my preferences, and even less so yours (since you have shown yourself to be so woefully lacking in the ability to even reason out basic concepts).

Again, THIS IS NOT A DIFFICULT CONCEPT. Just because people like Justin Bieber does not make him a talented musician. Just because people like Halo: Reach does not make it an excellent game. Frankly, if you are any representation of the people who like Reach... I despair.

I'll give you a campaign-only list, let's see how you handle it. Because arguing with someone as dumb as you about MP is like arguing with a wall.

*The battle for Reach was short, The Coveneant found Reach on Augus 30th, 2552, and defeated it the same day, or up to a week later. No more, and certainly not the months of time that Halo Reach is.
*The Pillar of Autumn was never on Reach.
*By that, Cortana could not have been carried by N6 to the PoA.
*PoA insignia altered.
*Reach was not defended nearly as well as described. I saw 1 orbital defense station in the game, where in the books it's described to have the second most, only behind Earth itself.
*The UNSC force on Reach (in game) is so small, it's laughable. Whereas in the books, it has a considerably sized fleet.
*Halsey knew pretty much nothing about the SIII project, yet when she encounters Noble Team, she acts as if she knew them all the time.
*Jorge, a Spartan II, working on the same team as SIII's
*Spartans, as described in the books, are augmented so that their personality is almost robotic. They only speak when spoken too, and address all superiors as "sir". We don't see that happen once in Reach. In being robotic, they don't talk back, and their skillset is much higher. Jun and Emile are more of ODST's, if that. Buck is more of a spartan than either of them.
*Carter, Jun, and Emile died 20 years prior to the events of Reach (All of Alpha was KIA on the same mission).
The list goes on and on, that only touches the surface.

Reach had its time to shine last holiday season. Games like Modern Warfare 3 are going to sweep gaming sales this year and actually take players away from Reach.
Alright,game on! Im predicting a climb to 6 or 5 on live post Christmas and into the next couple of months. About a 20,000 population jump with solid retention. I have my reasons and my sources for why I think this will happen and a few things could help foster even more population.

Care to put some numbers down on what you believe will be the result of the holidays besides just losing player, which frankly would be impossible for the next couple of months.

As much as I love Reach, you are misinformed.

I am a cashier at Toys R Us. I see what sells first-hand as I am chiefly in electronics. What is selling is not Halo Reach/CEA. Mostly, the popular Xbox games right now (which aren't Kinect games) are FIFA, NHL, NBA, and Madden 12, CoD MW3, Skyrim, and NFS. Out of all of those, CoD and Skyrim are selling the best. For every probably 20 of those, a copy of Reach/CEA sells.

Beyond that, I also know that the focus isn't on the 250 GB bundles of the Xbox with the digital download of Reach. The main focus is on the Kinect bundles. Microsoft is really pushing those on us, and the consumers. Our Black Friday ad had the 4GB + Kinect bundle for $200 plus a gift card and we have been pushing only that bundle since while barely getting the others in stock.

Reach isn't high on sales, or priority, really. I still think it's great, but, at least from what I've seen, it's not really doing much for sales.

I don't think you understand, "Competitive" players were the ones that defined the Multiplayer for the Halo franchise, without their existence and guidance, Halo 3, ODST or Reach wouldn't have existed, well they would, but not high in population. Developers seek feedback from their consumers, especially the "Competitive" players since they know what MM is all about. Campaign, FireFight or Forge, best leave that to people who excel in those sections.
