Don't you miss the days where you could just take a ghost straight at a person's face knowing that they'll either jump over you or you're going to get a splatter? I know I do. It simply just isn't the same due to armor lock, that changed a lot of my desire to play this game.
The missing 1-50 system being replaced by a "you all can do it in time" system is nice and it's more player-friendly but I believe that a latent factor of many players' desires was that urge to always be "better" rather than "okay, that's what your skill set is, you'll be the highest rank in X amount of time."
Another thing, RECON. That was the Holy Grail, the be-all and end-all of what Halo 3 players wanted and strived for. It was that urge, that idea that somewhere out there, there was this attainable armor that you could get from some way, and I feel it was a driving force behind a lot of gamers, especially Community-savy gamers. Haunted doesn't fit the bill the same way.
In the end, yeah, I like Reach; it just does not feel the same.
