As a result you'll get "detractors" that get fed up with the ignorance and simply post "you're retarded" comments, instead of the actual logical, thought out posts (the few that were posted).

Your premise is that those that detract from it have more of a valid opinion than I do, I enjoy the game so I play. Those that do not like the game play as well, if there is a lack of logic in anybodies thought proccess, it is not mine.

You try to come off as trying to sound intelligent then make basic mistakes that should be obvious to a twelve year old.


Besides that your points argue that franchises need to evolve to survive, however that's not true; they need to be re-imagined only if they stop being relevant. Halo (prior to Reach) was unique in the market and had a very strong fanbase. Reach brought in a lot of new players, but it did so at the expense of the enjoyment of long time fans who had certain expectations from the series.

The only times such dramatic changes are really justified is if a series is getting a complete reboot which implies that it had already passed out of relevance. Given Halo 3's standing in 2009-2010 it was easy to say that it was still relevant in the market.
Then suddenly Reach crops up and adds unnecessary complexity (loadouts and bloom in particular) to a beautifully simple design which was still healthy after 8-9 years and had managed to add complexity without affecting the core of the game (equipment, dual wielding and vehicle jacking never affected the core mechanics of equality, gunplay and movement the way loadouts and bloom did).

Changing the way the game plays at a fundamental individual level just alienates people who came to love the series for what it was.

Everything has to die at some point, but trying to resurrect something before it dies is pointless.

Can you make logical rebuttals against their arguments as to why its a bad game?

Do you know what their arguments even are?

All I've gotten from you is that you think its a good game, simply because you enjoy playing it and will play it regardless.

That's all fine and dandy, you've already said its a good game to you.

How ever that is not an actual logical rebuttal to use in an argument. Again it is pointless for someone such as yourself to try to be in a discussion about this. You can simply continue to play games you enjoy, regardless.

I wouldn't normally defend Reach but in this case I will. Swordblock imo, was a great new feature that to me makes perfect sense. These are fully shielded, armored super soldiers and aliens. If they want to block an Energy Sword strike to their abdomen or some -blam!- using their arms in fully plated armor and shielding technology, they should survive from it. However, up against a marine, or a grunt, they should of course instantly die because they don't use plasma shielding technology. Why are you against having sword block Goat? I'm curious.

Well in that case I agree with you. See, I think it's a great feature and it was a great idea to try and introduce, but I think that it is a bit broken. Good point. Took me a moment to really think about it.

1. Its a great feature that makes complete sense when completely trying to casualize the game.

2. And an Energy Sword is hot plasma energy that can cut through anything.

3. It makes no sense what so ever.

Always up for REACH customs!

I like Reach a lot, but it still has unforgivable flaws.

1. Quitting is a plague that ruins at least every one in five BTB or Invasion games, and neither Bungie nor 343 have done anything meaningful to stop it, such as harsher penalties or a drop-in system.

2. TrueSkill is an epic failure. I've been playing for a year and my K/D is usually around 1.7 - 2 in BTB, but I constantly get matched with and against scrubs who go 2 and 20, ruining Slayer games for their team no matter how well the decent players do.

3. Sword Base would be a great map if they just put a soft kill zone at the top of the yellow lift to prevent camping, or maybe a few fusion coils, but nothing has been done.

4. TU should be applied to ALL playlists. Why do we have two (three if you count Anniversary) different versions of Reach?

I was and still am a hardcore Halo fan, I enjoyed them all for what they are and were, amazingly fun wastes of time. Im sorry that you have begun to become frustrated with the changes made in Halo, I have embraced them and used them to expand the way I play the game and to further my fun, perhaps you should do the same.

What? Can't kill a few campers? Not the maps fault. No wonder people think this community is a joke.

Yeah, let's put softkills on all the camping spots. Hell, lets slap em on spawns too, because spawn camping is soooooo mean and unfair.

At least you can recognize flaws.

1. Quit ban is stupid, it should have never have been put in anyway and was only done so because of the failure CR system that we have (which is flawed and completely catered towards casuals). Blame lack of actual ranks for so many quitters (and for casuals begging for a "ranking" system where everyone can rank up). A drop in drop out system is a complete no, maybe use a SINGLE SOCIAL playlist as an experiment with it in the future. I'd still go with it as a no though.

2. Yes. Its so loose that it might as well be non existent. Yay for no ranks and no hidden trueskill.


3. SwordBase will never be even a remotely decent map. Lack of decent (default) maps in Reach is a problem.

4. :)

and it was also like 5 different versions of Reach fyi. Default 100% bloom, 85% bloom, zero bloom, Anniversary and Anniversary with AA's.

Eh 4 or 5, depending how you count the Anni's. Well 5 or 6 because now we have MLG which is ZBNS.
