I was and still am a hardcore Halo fan, I enjoyed them all for what they are and were, amazingly fun wastes of time. Im sorry that you have begun to become frustrated with the changes made in Halo, I have embraced them and used them to expand the way I play the game and to further my fun, perhaps you should do the same.
Perhaps you shouldn't dodge every one of his points you fucking downie.
Wait your turn and speak for yourself and I will get to you, those are my answers to his points, like it or not.

OP I'd like to see you justify sword block
The same way I would justify dying 12 times in one match and coming back to life every time, its a video game.

Sorry, but I'm still not convinced.

Try again.
I would but if the slightest amount of thought is put into it, one would relize, it is impossible to convince someone of somthing that they believe(does this sound familar?). What I am attempting to find out is how someone who fervantly hates Reach and the additions to Halo that it brought, have managed to continue playing and frequenting a forum for Reach a year later. It smacks of insincerity of psychosis.

Your premise is that those that detract from it have more of a valid opinion than I do, I enjoy the game so I play. Those that do not like the game play as well, if there is a lack of logic in anybodies thought proccess, it is not mine.

Can you make logical rebuttals against their arguments as to why its a bad game? I can, but logic is judged to be so by you currently and forgive me for saying this, I believe you have made judgements about my logic before it has been written.

[quoteDo you know what their arguments even are?
I do, I have been watching two forums for a year, trust me, I am well aware of the list of things "competitive" players think is wrong with Reach. At this point, after a year the arguments are still the same basic ones, just different reasons. Example: AL was OP, now its unbalanced or breaks the flow of play or all of them.

All I've gotten from you is that you think its a good game, simply because you enjoy playing it and will play it regardless. Then I should simplify my meaning: If after a year, you still play Reach, but have continued to have more bad to say about it then good, you are frankly losing credibility by the day. The mechanics have nothing to do with what peoples problem is with Reach, the problem is that the mechanics contained within Reach allow what would be called a "casual" by people who call themselves "competitive" to beat the same "competitive" player and "competitive" players are basicly throughing a temper tantrum. This temper tantrum manifest itself in the form of a year long bashing campaign against Reach and the people that enjoy it, that is franly laughable. Keep blaming bloom, and AA for your inability to play Halo as well as you use to, unfortunatly for the competitive player, Reach is Halo.

That's all fine and dandy, you've already said its a good game to you.

How ever that is not an actual logical rebuttal to use in an argument. Again it is pointless for someone such as yourself to try to be in a discussion about this. You can simply continue to play games you enjoy, regardless.
Logical rebutals expand farther than bloom and AA for the reason why they are valid, perhaps you should rejoin your debate class and relearn the finite rules of debating. Or perhaps retake your courses on philosophy as I believe you have missed the point of the debate and my logic.

Wow... I feel like Switzerland...

Look... it takes casuals AND competitive players to make the world go around. What may be "broken" to you, may not be to the next guy. EVERYone who has played has a valid opinion. K/D means as much as rank. The map isn't balanced? Okay, show me a REAL LIFE combat scenario that is balanced, I dare you. "JetPax break maps" you have the option to use the stupid thing too. "AL"... well I have to agree that it needed the nerf. "Bloom"... waaaah I can't spam the trigger without it missing... odd that 85% Bloom seems more popular than ZB.

Ya know what. Its an effing VIDEO GAME. If you don't like it, there's Game Stop, Craigslist, Amazon and eBay.

Why embrace changes that are clearly steps backward?

Spent time learning map geometry and flow?
Advantage lost; you and your opponents can spawn with Jetpacks.

Spent time learning good good escape routes?
Sprint and Evade are here to make it easier to escape in a panic.

Spent time learning how to get around a map without being seen?
Everyone can spawn with camo, levelling that playing field.

Spent time learning how to juke players with good use of cover?
Hologram and the radar jammer inherent to Camo are here to make that less obvious.

Good at positioning yourself to avoid grenades and onrushing vehicles?
Now with Armour Lock everyone can do that in a tight spot.

Got quick reflexes and good accuracy?
Tough, bloom is here to either level the playing field or make you risk missing.

Spent time practising your strafe?
With the magnitude acceleration and deceleration present in Reach everybody is easier to hit while changing direction than ever before.

The only reason I continued to play Reach for almost a whole year prior to the title update was because I had friends who did so and I enjoyed playing with them.
That's because at its core Reach does nothing but level the playing field between experienced and new players; I'm a person who likes to see time invested in an activity actually have benefits but in Reach a lot of the strategic thinking and advantages for knowledge are replaced with shortcuts for any player to use at their whim whilst also taking a huge step away from the equal starts which made the series stand out to me from the plethora of other FPS games on the current console market.

Also, it would have been nice if you actually addressed the points I made in my earlier post instead of basically telling me to adapt.

Ohai, I'm Loscocco (pronounced Loss-cocoa). I'm a college student (computer science major), 3D animator, and long-time Halo player.

Most of these arguments are absolute failures.

Insert facts on what Reach did that most consumers didn't like along with opinions on those facts.
Respond with opinion to "justify" why those facts are wrong because there is an opinion to them.

Basically: "I like this game so none of your opinions matter! Since you disagree with me, the facts are nonexistent. On a global scale, Reach is good because I like it and I said so!"

It's not hard to "master" Armour Abilities though. Not hard at all.

My point is that if I see "Halo" on the box I have an expectation for the gameplay to be similar to what I previously experienced. Most skills should be transferable and there should be a few new things to master that don't affect the knowledge already built up or devalue it in any way.

People may complain about Activision churning out a new Call of Duty every year, but very few fans of CoD can find much to complain about that is related to the core gameplay; shooting and moving and class creation all feel familiar from one title to the next, however changes and rebalances are made with the presence of different ancillary aspects of the games such as perks, streak rewards and weapons.
That persistence lets fans transfer to the most recent title with little trouble. Yes there are usually complaints about the alterations to the aforementioned ancillary aspects, but only the most outlandish of those have a huge impact on the core gameplay and they garner the most hatred throughout the lifecycle of the game.
