Flash Kicks beat Armor Lock.

TheLab.

Two versions for you, first is a Concussion Rifle + Plasma Repeater

Rate of Fire: 10 rounds per second, Full Auto
Ammo Capacity: 200 rounds, energy based
Overheat: Overheats at full RoF after 5 seconds
Range: Close/Close-Mid
Damage: Low, equivalent to around Plasma Pistol or slightly lower
Precision Capability: None
Special Properties: Slight knockback effect per bullet, medium sized splash damage radius upon impact
Main Purpose: Team Support, Anti-Vehicle

or

Rate of Fire: 5 rounds per second, Semi-Auto
Ammo Capacity: 60 rounds
Overheat: None, uses ammo rather than energy
Range: Close, Mid
Damage: Plasma Rifle - DMR, varies
Precision Capability: 2.5x scope
Special Properties: Has an "Overcharge" firing capability. Overcharge requires 1 second to obtain and consumes 5 rounds. Overcharge does not EMP or track, instead does additional damage (DMRish) and adds a Plasma Stun effect. Non-Overcharged shots can be fired at the 5 rounds/sec Semi-Auto rate for Plasma Rifle damage
Main Purpose: Fight Initiation, Team Support

Go ahead, tear it apart. I didn't really go over the numbers all that much, just threw them in instead of simply sticking to "RoF = Assault Rifle."

Apparently it's not obvious that I'm toying with ideas for new guns. Maybe I need to write that in the OP so people can understand that.

The second option sounds much better. I would vote for the first one, but for such a fast over heating time is such a handicap.

The 343 forums suck. They're full of retarded kids and mods who got butthurt in the B.net forums for being told that they're bad.

5 rounds per second semi-auto is fast.

And the gun just sounds like it would be annoying to fight against. Not really frustrating or difficult, but annoying.

I was figuring it to be a capped rate of fire which would limit the player to 5 rounds per second. Did I use the wrong wording or is that still too fast?

And the gun just sounds like it would be annoying to fight against. Not really frustrating or difficult, but annoying.Which version?

Well, try pulling the trigger 5 times in a second. That's REALLY fast for a semi-auto.

And I meant the first one would be annoying, sorry. Honestly, the first one seems like a nerfed Concussion Rifle, and the second one seems like a nerfed Plasma Pistol. I really don't see them being useful.

So lower RoF on first and raise damage on both?

No, lower RoF on the second is what I meant; that one's the semi-auto one. However, the first one would be incredibly annoying because each individual round would be able to stop you from sprinting or evading or ALing or really moving in general until the gun overheated or you died.

And I really just don't like the idea for the second one.

Trying to do a "less is more" type deal with the sandbox. The Plasma Repeater is fairly useless but the Concussion Rifle can be useful, so remove 2 weapons from the sandbox and replace it with 1. Perhaps a lower requirement for overheating on the first?

Second one is to give a plasma based precision weapon to the Covenant, since the only precision non-power weapon they have is the NR.

Yeah, I still think the first one won't be good. A bunch of lil Concussion rounds blasting all around me would annoy the hell outta me.

As for the second one, I think I missed the part where it was a precision weapon at first. After mulling it over again, I think it would be decent, but some more clarification is needed. Is it hit-scan? Headshot capable (I'm assuming this is a yes)? Does the secondary feature have a travel time? What about the cooldown for the overcharge? What exactly is meant by Plasma Stun?

Also, having a precision weapon fire 5 rounds a second that tears through a shield like a Plasma Rifle would be murder. Like I said before, that RoF is WAY too fast.

I'd rather it not be Hit Scan... but I'm thinking with P2P it would have to be.

Headshot capable, yes.

Travel time for the Overcharge could be slower than a normal Plasma Rifle round perhaps.

No cooldown, once you fire it off you could begin recharging it again if you wish or open up with regular fire. Which yes, making it fire slower is needed.

Plasma Stun is when if hit by plasma a player's movement speed and turning speed is reduced slightly.

Meaning the Overcharge would probably be best as your opening shot.

So like the way Halo: CE plasma weapons worked? Alright, that could work. The standard rounds would have to be hitscan to compete with the current precision weapons, but the secondary would have to have some travel time; how much, I'm not sure.

Also, how much ammo per clip?

15-20, 30 at the extreme most.

And I was thinking Shots to Kill could be, on a fully Shielded and Health opponent, about 6 normal shots, 1 OC + 4 normal shots, 2 OC + 2 normal shots, or 3 OC... although of course that could vary.

OK, well keep in mind that the DMR and the NR both have enough ammo in their clips to get three kills max. Your weapon might have to be different to accommodate for the secondary feature.

30 max works then.

Ot-
I think the Covenant just need a gun with precision and is fightable against the DMR. Meaning, a gun that is with odss with the DMR. Basically, DMR type damge, maybe less but has a Plasma Stun effect, and can fare against vehicles, even Tanks, like a DMR does tih a Wraith. I'm thinking of Auto, but not AR fast auto, but not NR slow Auto. Meets in the middle, but a good DMR player can shoot one down.

DMR hurting vehicles is crap. I'll be happy if it's gone in Halo 4. That never should have been added.

Life is a journey, if you spend all of it with your nose in your map, you may miss some of the best parts.

Haven't seen any of these in a while.

OT: Idea is good. Covenant weapons really need an improvement. Practically any idea right now is an improvement.
