Yeah but bungie and 343 are fixed on the opinion of making their games easier for the new-and sometimes younger audience. (Well they are a branch of Microsoft, who have been following that thought process ever since the avatars.) Not to start a flame war but, (Exhibit A- 0 Bloom playlist.

But making you die extremely easy would be something their perception leads to a non-selling game.

Our are clearly different- but who will listen to us while we are here- in the bungie forums?

You have a point. If the money ain't there who cares right?

Hey, now!

This is officially either the greatest or worst thing to ever happen to Star Wars. I'm going with the former.

I've wanted something like this for a while. I don't know if we'd ever see one, but a RepCom style game, or even playing as
Marines/Army, with Spartans as supporting characters would be interesting.

I think if you played as a normal soldier, or even an ODST, having a Spartan assist you would just really show the differences between the normal troops and the elite of the elite.

Same as before me, to get tactical gameplay- you need to make the player feel the need to stay alive/ not want to die

In matchmaking on cod- or sometimes halo, you throw your dead body at the enemy countless times. Cover is senseless, and no actual actions are there other that run shot run away. Nobody will even go slow- or check if their teamates are ok by looking at their position and not just chatting away. Some people do this- but the rest are oblivious.
There are 3 ways to give this feeling to the player.

ONE
Have them stay alive longer. In Battlefield BC2 and Battlefield 3, the maps are enormous. You are alive for long times even if you aren't lucky- more or less. You can do multiple things in a live. Run to some other spawn- fool around on a rocket turret, get in a friend's car, get out of a friend's car, look at a friend's car burning, attach C4 to a friend's car... And when your getting shot- you feel the need to stay alive

TWO
Make their lives more Valuable[V1] Exhibit A, you get a killing spree- what don't you want to do? Die. Exhibit B, you are carrying valuable cargo. A flag, a power weapon, ext... Exhibit C, you have an objective. Whether it is achievement hunting- weapon hunting- location retrieving- enemy kill-joy -ing, you give them a meaning to live and protect their life.

THREE
Make their lives more valuable[V2] I think this is the easiest to craft- but complex to have someone realize mid-game. One thing is to give them limited lives. 3 works great- maybe 4. The other is to put the player in charge of other players lives. Suppressing fire- all that sort helps them want to save their own life- and others.

Please pass this on- It is a great opinion in my mind, how about yours?
