In light of this topic (and that video posted) I would like to point out a few things.
Halo 2 does have some nasty auto "assist". More so then Halo 1, and it is blantantly obvious as every once in awhile you will be shooting one target in Halo 2 and when another runs past your screen it will sometimes aim towards that target.
But that video is very biased. Note the "Sweep Sniping" section. In Halo 1 it was all one scene, in Halo 2 they jumped from scene to scene showing the lucky shots. I have just tried this on my Xbox, and I am pretty confident it is a very rare event.
But this massive auta "assist" boost is there for a reason. (this has been stated before) In the average XBL game you face a substantial amount of lag. People are not always where they appear on your screen (hence sometimes the shots that look to be head are indeed just body shots). This is why auto aim is in the game, to make it so thoes people that may be a few inches off to the left actualy get hit when you point the gun at them. If you don't believe me, load up Halo 1 go on Xbox Connect. Its a program that links multiple Xbox togeather to allow for simulated online play. Have fun aiming that pistol in that mess. EDIT: Another test you can do is shoot your teammates on Xbox Live. Try to kill them... its hard isn't it?
Of course sometimes lag is PERFECT in a game resulting in the gross display of auto "assist" seen in that video. They where obviously playing on the same XBOX (see split screen) so the auto "assist" was able to show how powerful it really is. Don't believe me? Make a match on XBOX Live with a buddy and try thoes tests out. You will be surprised how they don't work as well (if at all).
All in all you can't really measure what game takes more "skill". Halo 1 had a sickening pistol. I know, I've used it. But it can be beat if you are "SKILLED" enough. Halo 2 has a sickening Plasma Pistol/Battle Rifle combo, I know, I've used it. But this can be thwarted if you are "SKILLED" enough. The only true way to measure how much "skill" you have is not to play rank and "Pwn newbs with das uber sword/rockets/plasma pistol, battlerifle combo" or "boinking your buddies in the head In Halo 1 with the pistol" but instead to show you don't need thoes things to win. That my friends is true skill, show your above that and you will have acomplished being "skilled".
Play what game you like to play and not the game you think makes you more "skilled". Because if your whole goal is to be the most "skilled" you will be sorely dissapointed. There is ALWAYS someone better then you, and you will ALWAYS get beat by people who you think are worse then you. This is life, its called the HUMAN ELEMENT. Your never the same twice.
