Subject: Major League Gaming Documentary (Lots of Halo Representation!)

Hey guys!!!!!

So I mentioned a month or so back that I was creating a MLG documentary for my class. I did not know, however, know that I would become so passionate about the subject.

After 10,000 adderall and countless hours of filming, this short documentary is finally complete. I spent so much time trying to make this perfect and trying to please the community, so I hope you all enjoy!

IF YOU ARE GOING TO ONLY READ ONE THING READ THE FOLLOWING:
This is not a final product. This is simply what I turned into my teacher. I really hope that Sundance or someone sees the potential of this documentary and realizes that this type of video is something that can promote and add to the future of MLG. I want nothing more than MLG to strive and I think that something like this can do just that. I WILL MAKE A FULL DOCUMENTARY LIKE THIS FOR F***ING FREE! I was able to create a 5 minute documentary after a semester of work, imagine what me, Dan, and Jim can do with a year or actual funding and support?

I WANT MLG TO THRIVE!
MLG is a huge part of my life. I spend hours everyday dedicated to this website or anything related to MLG .The entire purpose of this documentary is to get the MLG name out there and make people realize that competitive gaming is in fact a sport!

PLEASE DO THE FOLLOWING SO I CAN PERSONALLY CONTRIBUTE TO THE FUTURE OF MLG!!!
-like the video
-comment the video
-favorite the video
-SHARE the video <---- This is what is going to get the video/MLG out there. SHARE the video please!

EVERYTHING YOU DO CAN HELP!
Lets make MLG more than just an underground culture. Let's bring this into the mainstream and make people realize that we are NOT just a bunch of kids. We are a COMMUNITY that wants to thrive and create a professional environment that promotes hard work and dedication.

THE DOCUMENTARY:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T36VrJRhEh0

Please understand the following:
I want to continue on this project (so do my classmates) by the following:
Pro Interviews
More Starcraft coverage
More Call of Duty representation
More funding/support (the materials used were all classroom equipment. Imagine the doc that could be made with professional equipment or more support?)
Interviews from Sundance, Puckett, Shibby, and others
Less youtube clips and more videos from actual events
More live stream support

This was considered the best documentary in the class (I hope you all do enjoy. My goal is to entertain everyone)

-If you actually read all this ******, I love you so much

Still better than you.

.....most of you, at least.

Okay, first off:

Why did you show the CEA box? Showing the H3 or Reach Box would have made more sense to me.

Then, the montagy thing where you were showing the players, and then some game clips, was good, but showing Sudd 2 and then Starcraft right after didn't make sense. Same thing later on, with one of them talking over the top of BO gameplay.

The interview stuff was good, even if I didn't recognise any of the players bar Sudd twins.

Showing the trash talk stuff probably wasn't a great idea.

Probably getting some more stuff directly from MLG would be good too.

Overall, I liked it, but it's not exactly going to win over any hearts, especially if you're trying to raise awareness of MLG.

Why does everyone hate Halo 2? Maybe its because its the worst game ever next to mario.

A lot of old stuff, but it was still a nice little video to watch. Good job man.

Edit: Man Halo 2 MLG was the best!

Thank you for all the feedback. If it was not for responses like this, I would never improve.

Like I said in the description, this is no where near a final product. The intention of the project was (kind of to get an A) to raise awareness of MLG and the community surrounding it. The time constraints and seasonal scheduling made it almost impossible to get more interviews, and without any funding we were unable to film at event ourselves.

Having to rely on other people's videos is never a good idea, but I am none the less happy with the result.

Again, thank you for your criticism, I hope to create a final product worthy of your praise when/if I get more funding/support for an extended documentary!

Long story short, the footage at the beginning was from a project that I made a long time ago. We needed more B roll film and that's what I had to offer.

Well for one, mentioning the word MLG on this site is like cooties or something, kids don't want anything to do with it and will just post idiotic posts about it. So you probably won't have much help here, nor 343's site. Your best bet for feedback will be on MLG's site.

The smoking at the start was pretty pointless.

There are also a ton better team work audio clips you could use, as well.

I wouldn't show the Sudds at all.

I follow MLG and didn't even know who the other people that were doin the interviews were.... Try to see how many older interviews you can find, with some widely known people. Like T2 and his true life thing or walshy. Those are 2 are more widely known associated to be with MLG and would stand a better chance. Their talking later on was alright, just use something else for the beginning?

I liked the trash talking segment but it can be done a lot better. When the guys talking about how they shake hands afterwards, you should definitely show clips doing that....

How can you forget adding "We just got 25 uncontested seconds in the middle, what are you doing" and Walshys taking candy from a baby in there :/

And when the guy talks about how it said/done to get in your opponents head, try finding main stage clips of that.

The downgrading being too much part was nice.

Try to get better interviews for the end. MLG's been on ESPN before and its lately been rivaling TV stations. There was an article or something on it if you wanna know more.

GJ, though.

When do you plan on showing this to your class btw?

This was due today, hence why I couldn't get better interviews. I really wanted to interview people like Maniac, Demon D, NK, and Decliner (all MD locals) to create some credibility to the documentary however the filming was too close to the national tournament to get good interviews.

I put in the description that this is technically not the final product because this was created completely out of pocket with school materials. Imagine the type of doc I could make with actual funding?!?

It was interesting.
You did good job on it :-)

At 0:11 in the video with a 360 controllers. What is the name of the black controller with the red analog sticks, D-pad, and buttons? It's the 3rd one down on the right.

I'm not sure what's worse.

Creating a documentary about a video game that gets thousands of views and is loved by thousands of people.
