Subject: Winning Consistently

"What are we holding on to, Sam?"
"That there's some good in this world, and it's worth fighting for."

Okay, stupid question here:
How is it that some of you guys get such consistent wins? I'm a 48 in Team Slayer, and I can't seem to win consistently enough to reach 49. I win and lose plenty, but I never get those 8-12 game streaks that would rank me up. I have so much TS EXP that I can't rank up by just going win-lose-lose-win-win-win-lose-lose-win-lose-lose, which seems to be how I'nm playing now. It doesn't seem to be making much of a difference whether or not I run with a friend or solo. Also, I don't rank up as fast when running in 2s, and I rank down faster. Yes, I have read the ranking explanation thread, probably five times. From everything I've heard, most people got their 50s by winning 20 games in a row. My question is...how? I know, it sounds stupid. I don't mean how do you win in slayer, I was just wondering how you got so many consistent wins. Is there some trick to winning consistently, or did you just all get really good? Like I said, it's a dumb question, but I just thought I'd ask. Is it better to have marathon gaming sessions, or just an hour here and there, so I'll stay fresh? Thanks.

Well looking at your last game, your biggest mistake was not controlling spartan laser. On standoff you always want to control spartan laser. Having the laser will deter all vehicles and can keep the enemy pushed back at their side. Once you've gained an OK lead. You need to get on the back of their spawn and put as many shots as you can into people spawning. If you have the lead and the other team trys to camp in the base, let them. You have the lead and the advantage. This is only a review of your last game however. Other than that without seeing your gameplay I can't really tell you what you're doing wrong.

Thanks man, I'll try to do that on Standoff from now on. But is there any real trick to winning consistently, or is it just figuring out what you did wrong each time.

I'm not making excuses. I never claimed to be good. I have never played any colonel better than me though.

Top 1% Overall Player for H3 on Halocharts

I have been playing MW3 recently but sometime soon when I get a new xbox(my one right now is pretty -blam!-) I'll play H3 more often and can help you as long as you're not dropping -10's every game. Add WjB79.

The only way I have ever won consistently at high level was by playing with my friend who I always play well with. Make sure you have one good person you play with constantly and well and you should find winning consistently not a problem.

If you don't have anyone like that it will take ages.

Yeah, I have a lot of people of my friends list who are willing to help me out, it's just a matter of getting one who's always willing to run slayer with me....most of them only sometimes accept, which makes it very difficult to run slayer with someone specific.

Why not stop by my File Share while you're here?

~Long Live Halo 2
Only regret is I didn't play more of it.

If you haven't noticed by now, I'm sort of a jerk.

I'd probably just cause you to lose now.

Don't FxcK with Australian TS.
We will dominate you.

Run with at least one good team mate. Whenever I used to play TS I would always run with zTransition or Breathe. We rarely lost. It's all about having good team mates, especially in a game that's so team-orientated. You don't want retards on your team.

Ignorance in it's finest form.

Try playing with 3 friends (that are good).
This can help you get wins.

Lol how is that ignorant? This game is 4 years old, a new installment has replaced it, Halo 4 is on the way, and you can spend 15 minutes searching for a match

Game is dead, move on.

Take a step back with me and enjoy a taste of the bittersweet that is our current generation.

I enjoy Battlefield and Call of Duty, and Gears of War.

20 years old, manager of my family's business, aspiring officer of the law.

I love anything political.

Winning consistently is a thing of the past for me. I can't even manage it in social.

And yet I'd still rather play halo 3, I don't spend 15 minutes looking for a game??

Fair enough. Let me rephrase that:
Why would I let anyone tell me what games not to play?

Idk, play whatever games you want. I still play h3, but there's no point in still taking it seriously.

Just keep playing how you're playing and you'll continue to improve and will get the 50, I played you last night on another account and you did fine, your team won because my randoms went -5 and -7 but you deserve to be a 50 imo, the only thing I would say is just don't rush too much, last night you were rushing at the wrong times with your AR.... sometimes its better to survive and put shots on someone rather than keep trading :) good luck though.

Thanks man, appreciate it. What map was it? I got a lot of lucky teams yesterday.

Citadel, i was playing on an alternate account just for fun where I haven't played ranked in so long and I matched you my first game, I went neutral.... normally takes me a few games to get into the swing of things, GG though.
