that is, compared to reach, in the same way halo 2's at the time dissapointing campaign seemed so charming (and now three times as charming) when halo 3 came out.. now halo 3's campaign with all its color, veriety, rather huge battles with scarubs, and its relative sillyness seem so desirable to play again.

what i feel let down halo 3's campaign was too many predictable and rather boring vehicle sections.. but still, it was a pretty awsome and huge journy compared to reach which feels like a short, uneventfull, anti-climactic episode which ends in your defeat no matter how well you play.

im not complaining really, thats why im on the halo 3 forum, not the reach forum, so i can discuss it with like-minded people.

plus, halo 3's multiplayer in my opinion was just so good. most of the maps had distinct atmosphere, as did the maps in halo 2.

snarl.

"What are we holding on to, Sam?"
"That there's some good in this world, and it's worth fighting for."

Reach multiplayer is just too slow. I really regret not playing H2's multiplayer, though. Let's hope for a H2 remake!

amen to that.
winter contingency was the only reach level i liked. HALO 3's campaign was disappointing when compared to HALO 2's campaign but The Ark was enjoyable. maybe Halo and Floodgate as well

And Cobravert is absolutely correct.

After playing CEA on Legendary I still like Halo 3's campaign better. It's multiplayer was the pinnacle of my online playing thus far, as far as number of games played and friends who played it. Bad lag in BTB drove me away eventually.

Reach? *shudders*
I freakin hate what they did to it.
It reinforced my and a multitude of my Halo playing friends now involvement in CoD.

H3 may have been easier than most Halo campaigns, but it was consistent. And it was a lot more fair and realistic (except for CE, that was even more realistic):

-Brutes no longer damage sponges
-Jackal snipers having short attention spans
-Jackal snipers being easier to spot
-pet Jackals
-Brutes were easy to assassinate
-there were useful weapons near every Hunter encounter

Chieftains having armor immune to Needler explosions and sticky grenades and using Invincibility is cheap but they were still easy to kill by assassination (and their power shields could be taken down with 1 plasma pistol overcharged bolt).

The only real problem was that most of the returning Covies were still fast (i.e. diving Jackals). And when Grunts panic, that's only useful if you can go close enough to melee them. Otherwise, it becomes difficult to get headshots on them because they run around like crazy. I doubt they're actually scared.

If I am not mistakes, I believe you have used the word regret incorrectly.

I started playing Halo with H3. Fortunately, I was able to play maybe around 700 games of H2 online before it got shut down, and it was great. I wouldn't say that I liked it more than H3 simply because I've played H3 more than any other game out there, but H2 was still a ton of fun. And it was very competitive.

Reach, however, is complete garbage. I've tried to adjust to it and enjoy it, but I just can't. It doesn't really even feel like Halo. It's not competitive, it's not fun to play, and it's overall just a huge let-down. It scarred Halo's good name.
