Glasslands is more important considering Halo 4 is coming out. Primordium, while important in regards to backstory, will have less relevance probabilistically than Glasslands.

And skimming the old pages of this forum from late October to early November, there were not any extensive discussions, and the same on your site Grey.

You have that completely backwards Plasma, frankie said primordium will be more relevant than Glasslands. There where, trust me, the search bar here sucks.

Did he really? Where so?

Also, it seems you dislike most of the recent canon additions to the lore grey. Reach, now Glasslands. Do you not feel that the value of the Universe is degrading if the major canon is not what you think even belongs?

I don't have the interview saved but i think it was on ign or something. If you really need to see it then i will look for it later and PM you. I dislike reach but you don't see me ranting about it, i just think that was bungie's big "F you halo, microsoft and 343".

I dislike Glasslands because of Karen. She said it herself that 343 gave her a list of things to bring up, a list not to touch and everything else was up to her (paraphrased, comicon). Since we have no idea what is what all we can really do is shake our heads.

Disliking two things out of everything 343 has done so far means nothing. I still advocate halo and love it, 343 hasn't changed my views on anything. There is alot of crap bungie messed up massively on yet i still got into halo. the only thing i am honestly worried about is Frankie pushing around canon to make the games more fun, something i feel Glasslands is a testament to with the rushed concepts.

Ok, Ima ignore the arguments that seem to be expanding beyond a few pages and just leave my 2 cents.

I literally finished Glasslands this morning (couldnt start it in October since I was in the middle of the Darth Bane Trilogy.) But anyway, I thought the book dragged on a little bit, but I honestly grew to love the characters, and actually care for their well-being, meaning I hoped the story worked out for certain people, and if something bad happened to one of the characters I'd feel bad about it. That shows me that the Karren did a damn good job, she got me invested in the story and the characters.

The political aftermath of the war was Extremely interesting. I loved how Karren made ONI look even more shady and evil yet out for humanity. Sorta reminds me of Cerberus in mass effect, although perhaps not as fanatical. Anyway the Sanghelli (sorry if i spelled it wrong) political structure, and the visitatons and interactions with Phillips and Elites were by far the most interesting points, that tied with all of the scenes in the Dyson Sphere.

I totally agreed with the idea that Halsey and Mendez would have an astronomical amount of guilt, and that they would be at each others throats. It makes perfect sense given what they had to do, and how Halsey buried herself in her work to ignore the feelings. The sense of betrayal about the Spartan III's and Mendez's own personal guilt and hate for what Halsey and him essentially did all boiled down to some very interesting confrontations.

Then there's the ending, which I'd love to discuss with some of you on here. Hella interesting and my mind is building speculations. I wonder if Glasslands 2 Will be published like a month before Halo 4 and somehow the post war series will work itself into the new games trilogy.

Anyway, my personal opinion the book was easily 4 out of 5 stars.

Umm? I have been watching thw whole time actually. Who are you to say i havn't? I even answered a set of your questions you put into a paragraph. And a quick look back through the pages would yeild the same result as being there from the start anyways so.......

Which is why it is obvious that he is just following me instead of commenting on the people that said the book sucks.

No, you're just the most vocal about why you disliked the book, and you're just couching in more neutral language than just coming right out and saying 'it sucks'. Not to mention that you beat around the bush for 4 pages instead of coming up with some sort of reasonable explanation other than that one measly 'It should've been explained more' you've been spouting out. Sorry, but when I can think of a good reason for why the book was good the way it was, and you can't give a reason for why you think the opposite, I have no choice but to dismiss your opinion as being baseless. Sorry. Come up with something a little more substantial and I'll be more than willing to discuss it with you.

You have to be kidding, because i am the least vocal about the book, since i see opinions as irreverent and normally keep mine to my own.

I am not "beating around the bush" since that was all i had and was going to say on the matter. I have stated my elaborated opinion in several threads and I don't care about your viewpoint enough to elaborate mine.
If you would even read what i said to plasma you can see a small and elaborated explanation. As i have said before i don't care how you view my opinion. The point will stand regardless of what you think about it.

I will keep re-hashing the same stuff for the next four pages because i honestly don't give a damn.

I have not yet finished the book, and I'm generally enjoying it so far, but there are a few things that I cringe at and I just wanted to get some other opinions about them.

For instance: the fact that Brutes (at least some) are working with Elites just seems so wrong. The two races hate each other with a passion. I highly doubt that some would be working together.

Also, very minor, and more personal preference, but she likes to use "kit" to refer to different kinds of equipment (i.e. armor, weapons, etc.) and I just really don't like the word being used instead of, say "gear".

Well first of all, read the entire book before coming here. Don't spoil it.

The Brutes aren't really working with the Elites; it seems more like labor than cooperation. It's not like the Brutes have become an integrated part of Sangheili society, and I perceive much overreaction to this "issue."

As for the whole "kit" vs "gear" thing, that is a very strange qualm to have.

Even so, I just don't see it happening unless the Brutes were, like, wired with explosive collars or something. I mean the Elites let them fly their own ship, albeit a small shuttle, but still.

And I suppose the "kit" vs "gear" thing is a little strange, I just prefer the latter. It doesn't really have any baring on whether the book is or isn't good. I just wanted to see if anyone felt the same.

Traviss, if anything, depicted things more realistically in some respects. Not every Elite thinks the Brutes are completely worthless; some exploit them for their own needs. On the same token, not all Brutes will resist working for the Elites.

It honestly was not that big of a deal. If there Jiralhanae City Centers on Sanghelios, then it would be a problem.

About the Elites letting Brutes fly that shuttle. I have a huge issue with that. Not only is there a history of racial hatred between Brutes and Elites, they were just in a civil war. No Elite would put a Brute in charge of ferrying an Engineer. Especially after it emphasized the importance of Engineers after the war. This was just so wrong.

And I also feel that several of the main characters weren't properly portrayed. (Mendez, Halsey,... that's it.) But I'm not too upset about the lack of info. It would be nice to have another Nylund book again...
