Yes they are popular. At the end of the day only YOU can make up your mind whether you like them or not but I'll give you some advice:
Ridgeline: An awesome, two base, big team forest-like map.
Solitary: Multi-Level confined arena, great for carnage in FFA
Breakneck: Very complex and varied big team map, gauss hog and banshee! Tall buildings and wide roadways make the map a very unique experience indeed.
Penance: A cool arena with some intricate paths and height variation. Good for FFA and Team matches.
High Noon: Mixed opinions on this one. A very original map with two opposing, non-equal sides. Tombstones litter an open battle zone in the middle and lots of raised paths make combat interesting.
Battle Canyon: An old-skool symmetrical map with an equal battleground and two perfectly cool bases. Small but great for Team matches. You can't not love it!
Installation 04 (Firefight map): A great addition. Warthog is available and a large structure stands in the middle which you can choose to defend.
Maps are polished to a high standard with beautiful graphics and art-direction.
Lots of variation. Something for everyone! :)
