It's the prestige that makes the illusion.

Before you read:Read the Fall of Reach!

At the last mission when you escort the Package to Cpt.Keyes you destroy the Covenant Cruiser with one shot from the MAC cannon while in the Fall of Reach the Covenant ship's shields can only be destroyed with 2-3 MAC shots.
So it means that the Cruiser wasn't shielded.
But that very dumb because the Covenant knew very good that Reach had 20 orbital MAC stations in orbit around Reach.
So why wasn't the Cruiser shielded?

I think Bungie didn't mind the details about it because they wanted to figure out how to get Noble-6 left behind.

dont like my driving? stay off the sidewalk

I... wat? hang on im gonna try to explain it. first off i think they would have taken down any MAC stations before they invaded the ground and secondly i think it might be a serious design flaw to have a super carrier fire through its own shield, it would seem that at the very least it had to lower the shield around the firing area to get a clear shot at the pillar of autumn and well you can kinda figure out the rest....

I'm 23, I have a house, dog, girlfriend, job and I have no interest in any fanboyism so if you're thinking about sending me a childish PM, don't be surprised when I don't call back.

Lower shields
Fire main weapon
Restart shields

That's why.

Wrong...several O-MAC stations were still active when the PoA launched into orbit so they would definitely have destroyed the cruiser.

You actually never read the Fall of Reach didn't you?
Wouldn't it be too easy for the humans if the Covenant ships would first lower their shield then fire guns and then restart the shield again?

The Covenant fires their weapons with their shields on.

you wait to shoot till the cruiser starts glassing, that lowers the under shields which is why keyes give you the order to shoot
