I tried to post this earlier but my internet went all dumb and I couldnt post it, I also checked 29 pages of this new forum and saw nothing else about this so here goes.

Did anyone else get the feeling that the activation of the "structure" was unintentional?

At 1:25 as Spartan-117 steps to the ledge overlooking the object, you can see 27 Covenant Cruisers in a hold position, around the crater, as 9 Banshees ESCORT a lone Phantom, toward the structure.

At 1:26 we can see 3 Cruisers in a hold position above the structure.

At 1:34 when the installation begins to open, the Banshees and the Phantom break formation, and turn away from structure in an evasive pattern.

At 1:39 you can see the Cruiser above Spartan-117 immediately fire up its engines and turn on an out-of-area vector.

And finally, at 1:45, the two remaining Cruisers above the structure fire their engines, again, on an out-of-area vector.

Now, my question to you is, why would the Covenant, who are hell-bent on begginning their Great Journey, flee from its Holy Light? Have you ever seen a spiraling vortex in the sky when Delta Halo was activated?
This really interests me because no theory I have ever seen explains this phenomena, which makes me wonder, what if what was activated, wasn't what everyone thinks it is? Maybe, in some horrible way... something worse

Props to the guy who found this, I cant do quoting good, but props.

Anyway, here is my theory. There is a way to survive that blast and the prophet knows it, and wanting to be the like only thing around he uses the ring to kill everyone and he wins.

I'm guessing it's because of the huge doors opening up that could potentially hit them. Also, there is a blast the comes out when the structure opens, that could push them back.

(Maybe they couldn't see and moved the ships?)

Watch closely when the structure opens, notice the shockwave that rises, they were not fleeing, they were holding postion or moving out of the way of the massive doors.

You should of made up your own instrument. You could have named it the PolarLighting -a-phone. People would buy it and they would all be like "Awh, He's so cool for inventing the PolarLighting-a-phone."

Agreed, though I had the same doubts. I think that the whole thing may have been some sort of dream though (to the chief). That, or that this will not be included in the final version of the game.

I see what EvenG4 pointed out, but I can't help to notice how they break formation and scatter. If they were holding positions, they woudl've stuck together, but instead they scatter in 3-4 directions. I think I'll go with the unintentional opening. Although I'm totally not sure about the prophet, but it is possible.
