Subject: [Speculation] How will UNSC Infinity stack up against other ships?

Still using a pump-action shotgun over 500 years in the future I see.

omg not realistic stop game production plz

T4R. How do you think the new girl will stack up against other ships (e.g. the largest Covenant ships like Long Night of Solace, or against a Forerunner ship).

There is little information available on the UNSC Infinity at the moment, so this is purely a speculatative thread, i.e. what you personally think the Infinity will be like in combat.

Depends on what it has. While we know it will have the forerunner slip space upgrades we don't know about its offensive and defensive capabilities.

We should hope so; if the Sangheili find out what ONI's been stirring up for their race, we're going to need Infinity to fight off the handful of ships the Elites have.

EDIT: Forgot to throw my own two cents in....personally, I think Infinity could take a maximum of two CSO Supercarriers. That sounds underwhelming, but they are supercarriers afterall. Forerunner tech often has the appearance of being unbreakable, but if enough plasma is fired at the Infinity, it'll break.

It should have shields, not to mention if they got their hands on forerunner barriers then it will be fine.

  • 12.22.2011 11:50 AM PDT

My honor student can beat up your honor student.

I agree that the Infinity should be able to match a CSO Class Supercarrier in combat, but only if it makes full use of the forerunner tech found throughout the war as well as that in Onyx.

Judging by the time it took for the UNSC Post Stanley to be retrofitted with forerunner slipspace technology during the course of Glasslands, I doubt this will take very long for ONI to dissect Onyx's treasure-trove of forerunner goodies.

The only limiting variable is how the tech is implemented. We'll likely see how this plays out in Halo 4.

I'd say at the very least it would be ale to take CPV Destroyer without having much damage done to it.

What is UNSC Infinity?

Waypoint Moderators aren't really Moderators, just power hungry and its goal is defend their beloved Halo at all costs. (Meaning that they wank Halo too much.)

Uh, Glasslands did state that UNSC Infinity did get Forerunner enhanced weaponry.

SC Matt Klassen

If you have read Glasslands, you'd know what it is.

Otherwise, read this. UNSC Infinity

Forerunner enhanced weaponry.

Well that settles it.

If this is brought out into a battle against anything belonging to a UNSC rebel faction or a Covenant remnants/hostile Sangheili faction, it's going to end the same way as what happened when the Prophets brought the Keyship around to fleet battles.

However, that ship against a Forerunner vessel, the Forerunners on board will briefly wonder WTF, before blasting the Infinity to the sub-atomic level.

What I think its biggest advantage is going to be is the ability to quickly adapt any Forerunner technology it comes across. Infinite upgrades.

Your one stop shop for all of 343's fabulous errors and ridiculous notions in the Halo lore.

If it's in Halo 4, I hope it gets blown up almost immediately.

Or crashes/is damaged being repair :P.

Though, my question is when did the UNSC/ONI get Forerunner ship weapons? I doubt those were in the portal structure...

I doubt the forerunners would put a slipspace capable ship on a halo that houses specimens of the flood.

If there is Flood, then why did ONI put research station at Installion 03?

Just sayin'.

Weapons maybe though. Point defense guns of halo. Though the ship point is good. Unless 03 doesn't house flood specimens...

Full contingent of Spartan IV's, forerunner technology, not to mention the horugok that had upgrading this thing. I'm betting it has 2 triple Mac guns instead of the 1 the Autumn had. Remember the Autumn took out that Covenant superubercarrier above reach on it's own.

If Andrew Del Rio is competent and Rear Admiral Saeed Shafiq is understanding we should be good to go.

The Supercruiser is not the same as a Super Carrier.

Um that is extreme paraphrasing since some SIVs were only briefly stationed there in the past. I doubt that thing would still be using mac rounds. And The Autumn taking out that ship above reach was extremely risky and it got banged up doing so.

You do know the PoA had a single MAC gun. It was merely designed to fire three smaller projectiles with a single charge then one large one.

Be in halo 4 or blown up immediately?

Cause you can't prove he's wrong on either point. I mean, think about it, would be something to show how badass this new foe is.

Implying we know it has no flaws. You are aware that's what Mary Sue means, right? Every ship has flaws, I'm sure Infinity is no different, especially in it's prototype stage, and especially when we know literally 1 thing about it: it's got Forerunner tech, that's about it. We know no weapon specs, how it maneuvers, it's shielding, it's armor rating or really anything. Kinda early to call it a Mary Sue.

If it were, all Forerunner ships are Mary Sues by that logic.

Anyway, if Infinity is destroyed, it needs to first be established in game that it is the most powerful ship in the human's arsenal, to make the destruction of it more impactful.
