This man, this man right here put it so eloquently that I actually cancelled my own 2000+ word long post.
/slow clap for respect

The person who said participating is important, not winning, obviously never won anything.

I was between Halo CE and ODST, but I ended up voting for Halo CE.

Mostly because of how terrified and how the Flood impacted me all those years ago. It was completely unexpected.

Halo 2 for sure. I regularly go back to the campaign just to experience the Great Schism in the level Uprising....

Damn, now I want to go play it.

*Fist bump*

Lol I'm playing it right now. Those Brutes....they're going to pay.

I can't choose. I honestly don't see any of the main Halo games as a weak point story wise.

Halo CE was a great introduction to the universe.
Halo 2 fleshed out a lot of story Covenant wise.
Halo 3 really expanded on the Forerunner and the grand scheme of things.

Each of them were great. Halo Reach was the worst.

Halo 2? Really? Did everyone forget that Halo 2's campaign completely derailed and muddled the Halo story? Riding the giant space potato, swimming with the reject from The Little Shop of Horrors, a final battle that ripped off Donkey Kong (navigating platforms to rescue an ugly, inept princess from a monkey), and an ending so abrupt and incomplete that calling it a cliffhanger is insulting to actual cliffhanger endings. These are not highlights to be praised.

CE with Halo 2 being a close 2nd. CE established the series. It was rich in potential. H2 gave much more history on the Covenant.

Halo 3 is 3rd for me(I'm seeing a pattern...).

Halo CE told a story.

Halo 2 told a universe.

This.

IMO Halo 2 and ODST have the best storyline.

How do any of those things mean that the Halo story is "Ruined FOREVER!"?

You're implying that before Halo 2, it really had a story. CE was a standalone, because with the destruction of the Flood, Halo, the death of virtually everyone, and little explanation on the Covenant, CE in no way shaped the universe we know now. Halo 2 did.

I'm assuming the character development, heavy religious allegories (please do note Arbiter's crucifixtion/rebirth and that the Gravemind looked like a giant infected snake), and overall universe expansion went completely over your head.

Opinions, we've all got them, but please support your opinion with valid reasons.

The only one that was flat out bad was Reach, and that's only because it was a canon nuke.

Throw up between ODST and CE, but had to go with CE. Although, now I'm going to play ODST again because of it.

The only one I thought had a really weak story was Reach, all the others were great, albeit each with little flaws.

To those who much is given; much is lost.

Not only did Halo 2 deliver the best story, and the most explanation into the Halo world, it had feeling. In each different level it had a sense of emotion. Thinking back on that game, more than any other (maybe ODST) is why it was the best game, and story.

Halo 2.

Its expansion to the Halo Universe and the dark, emotional tone of the story combined with the Elites was amazing. The ending left me so hyped for the final fight, and the game was a bloody brilliant way to set all the conflicts up for Halo 3.

ODST was good, but it wasn't an epic Sega. It didn't give me the chills I had when watching the Halo 3 Announcement trailer and wondering how Halo 2 would be continued.
