At the end of Halo 2, the Arbiter (who also had more than half of the covenant on his side) discovered the secret of the Halos. They were meant to kill everything. Now, assuming that this is the Arc, and knowing that the Arbiter knows what the Arc does. He would want to stop that. Now that that is over...look at the trailer. Almost every covenant flier you see there is a fighter/destroyer ship.

This infers that this is the half of the covenant that the Arbiter has on his side. Now if Truth managed to reach the Arc, and activate it, or it was activated in some other way, I am thinking that those ships aren't trying to just move towards it, or protect it, but are trying to destroy it. Discuss...

yeah at the end some of the ships had completely turned around in the other direction

well i think it's strange that all the covenant ships seem to be running away from the laser, as if it wasn't meant to be fired.

did u just pull the idea that those ships were sanghelli controlled rite out of ur butt. I dont see how ur explanation verifies that the ships we saw were elite controlled, not Covenant controlled

It seems likely that the Large laser is the result of the arc.
But Bungie just loves to throw in those kinda moments. Its the Equvilant of the 'Bet you can't stick it.' moment for Halo 2.

Well...assuming they were trying to get a good, clean shot, they would have to get rather close...but before a majority of them COULD get there, the laser was just about to fire. That would be a senseless waste of a ship, and lives if they didn't try to get away.

Like I said, it is a theory, but my backup for this would be that not ONE ship shot at the MC, although they flew right over him. Now technology like that, that is far beyond that of the earths 500 years from now, is not likely going to skip over the single spartan that has killed hundreds of covenant. Now assuming that the elites were piloting the ships, along with the good part of the covenant, they wouldn't have shot. It makes sense.

oh, unfortuantely though, even though the elites are out of the covenant (or just demoted), doesn't necessarily mean they'll drop their life-long religious beliefs that humans are evil =\
also, it seems kinda hard to believe that some of the covenant will believe that the rings/ark are wmd's since they were central to their religion..

i still like your theory though, perhaps it'll get worked out in the first third of the game before the cinematic (i read on either IGN or Gamespot that this cinematic takes place roughly around the 1/3 mark in the game).

true or not, i think i'd still rather be way off on the plot at this point because it'd be no fun knowing the story to the last game in this Halo story-arc. =]

Maybe the war is over and everyone is dead and the master cheif is the only human and all the ships are filled with the flood and that giant flood is on that blue thing and cortana is useing the giant flood to draw all the flood to shoot them to other galaxies or something maybe

I got the distinct impression that the Fleet was on the master chief's side in this one.

343 Guilty spark said you can activate the other Halo's from the Ark, so is there really a need for the Ark to be a weapon?

Did you happen to see the way it looked just before the flash. It has at least three singular lines of light coming from the center. And a pinnicle of light upwards. If you silloetted that it would look like the ship that MC got back to earth on..

And im sure that if the cruisers and what not were Sanghelli controled...The MC wouldnt be walking.
