Based on the numbers available from other forums, the number of people who read a thread is usually much higher, sometimes as much as ten or a hundred fold, than the number that post.
There isn't anyway of knowing how many users actually read and think about everything posted, but considering that they didn't just hit "reply," it means that they were more interested in what other people had to say. Thus, it's reasonable to assume that several people have seen your post.
Therefore, it is best to think of the number of people that read what you've written as undefined and focus more on the quality of your post regardless of who reads it. After all, it isn't like you win all the points if so many users quote you.
